Sci Fi Channel unveils its new projects

Gotta say I'm looking forward to the new Stargate series. I've been hooked on SG-1 fromthe first episode I saw, but I will agree that the show has kind of taken a downhill turn in this last season. Hopefully "Atlantis" wil revitalize things a bit.

Looks like Battlestar Galactica is getting confirmed as a series, from what I've been reading online. Finally. Sci-Fi might actually one of these days manage to drunkenly stagger back towards, y'know, science fiction.
History doesn't always repeat itself. Sometimes it merely shouts "Weren't you listening the first time?!?" and lets fly with a club.

I can understand why this is on Sci-Fi, lawyers would consider this their worst nightmares! Sounds like that sci-fi made for tv movie where all the cowboys who went to purgatory went. •The Divide. This mystery series centers on a bogus radio psychic who discovers that his abilities are real when he is visited by the ghost of his twin sister. With the aid of a coroner, the team solves crimes.
Sounds like Crossing Jordan meets Madam Cloe.
•Legion. about a young man who sells his soul to the devil to save his daughter's life and finds out that he must leave his family and wander the world with the ability to recognize other demonically possessed souls.
then what? Do they get together and go bar hopping? Maybe a little demonic kareoke?
•Stargate: Atlantis. a new team in the Stargate SG-1 universe. A secret base left by the originators of the Stargate is found in the most unlikely of places: on Earth, buried within the ruins of the legendary civilization of Atlantis. A new team travels to a distant universe, where they find a primitive human civilization threatened by a sinister new enemy.
Soon to be followed with Stargate: Miami.
•Painkiller Jane. Based on the Event Comics series, this superhero series focus on a young marine officer, Jane Browning, who is exposed to a biochemical weapon that changes her genetically, endowing her with incredible self-healing powers. She becomes an ultra-covert agent fighting crime while struggling to remain free from those who would now use her gifts for sinister purposes.
Sounds like Dark Angel, and I never watched Dark Angel! But seriously, this also sounds like the Bionic Woman, the 6 Million Dollar Man, and any psychic to come onto a science fiction show. The originality of this network just leaves me speechless.
•Clive Barker's The Evil One. told from the perspective of an evil demon, in which the forces of good and evil do battle each week.
This actually sounds like something I would watch. You never see the bad guy's POV. This is actually something with promise. I'm now going to check to see if anyone's seen any flying pigs, or if anyone know's Hell's temperature.
•Total Eclipse. This series centers on Jeremy Cross, a new teacher at Greylock College, who discovers that the school is a nexus of the supernatural, where the faculty's IQ increases annually, intelligent wolves roam the forests and research deals with time travel, ESP and anything else on the edge of science.
Buffy goes to college. oh yeah, she went to college. This could be the college that Willow would have gone to if she didn't follow Oz and the Scoobies.
•Suture Girl. Developed from the Gretchen Culver character in the Spawn comic-book series, this series centers on a former advertising executive who was murdered by a serial killer and finds herself stitched back to life and imbued with special powers by a mysterious gypsy woman. Suture becomes a voice for the oppressed and a court of last resort as she fights evil with the help of a handsome crusading lawyer.
OK, they're not even trying anymore.

What's wrong with Stargate? After Firefly got cancelled its the best Scifi on tv! My rankings of current shows:
1. Angel
2. Alias
3. Stargate
The spinoff could be really good. The show has gotten better every year and the premise of the new one sounds really good. And I think that description is wrong. It's another galaxy, not universe.
But what is with all the demon shows? They cancell Angel so they want to put 10 crappy versions in its place?

Hey Guys!
There was another "new project for sci fi" that I am waiting for, its called "Koala Boy".
Its about a toddler who was shipwrecked on the Australian coast and adopted by a family of Koalas. The series follows his adventures foraging for gum leaves and searching for a nice sturdy tree to sleep in all day.....

Although what's really got me excited is "Carrot Man Swashbuckler of the Seven Seas". And the Sci-fi pictures original movie "Crest Gell and the Battle for Toothopolis", staring Joyce De Witt as "Cavity Queen".

Actually, I'm a big SG-1 fan, and the missus and I have our little Friday night ritual of "Joan of Arcadia" followed by "Stargate SG-1". There's nothing wrong with SG-1. The comment was a poke at the idea of a spinoff with same premise, different location, just like "CSI".
I have never seen "Alias" once, and I got out of "Angel" some time ago when WB started shifting the time slot around. Gorram fools.
They can have my "Firefly" DVDs when they pry them from my cold, dead fingers....

Truth is, sci-fi as a genre has always been littered with some pretty Grade-F stuff; that's what gave MSTK3 all its material. And I agree, if you reduce ANY literary work to one descriptive sentence, it sounds hokey.
This is, however... ahem ... discouraging.
You gotta have bad stuff to make the good stuff shine so bright, but I just tend to click the "OFF" button. Too bad my TV isn't one of the two connected to whatever far-off bubble Neilson lives in.
It's those few shiny ones that keep us coming back and hoping, people like Lucas (before they 'cloned' him), Serling, Hitchcock, Whedon...
We're not just looking for bizarre ideas, gore, or special effects. We're looking for believable characters in believable worlds that we can get lost in, when WE need to go out into the black.
