Well, you can always start another topic for it. But those of us here should get to be founding members. Especially ones who had those clunky open reel tape things.

I don't think I ever considered taping Firefly - it's just too visual. Although with dvds, it'd be a cinch to rip the audio and burn the mp3s to cd. I have an mp3 cd player in my car, even. Way easier process than hooking up the vcr to the cassette deck or the computer inputs. Isn't technology grand?

It did have a brief moment during the first run of Babylon 5, since JMS wasn't shy about letting everyone know he was a fan. IIRC, Gareth Thomas even presented him with an award dressed like Blake - last episode Blake...

For me, it was just the right antidote to years of ST:TNG and all that political correctness. I liked Dark Angel for the same reason, all that gloomy post-apocolyptic scenery.

Desperado's up there for me, too. Sometimes I watch it just to hear the soundtrack.

But you had to do it the hard way Chrisisall

Here's the thing about Seven and why I really, really enjoyed that movie. Mills, as presented in the movie is in a headlong, foregone conclusion with the ending of this movie. If you watch eve the tiniest little detail...even in his first scene, he gets a little angry at someone for bumping into him. Every little thing about Mills screams that he was just the perfect person that Doe was looking for and exploited to explosive effect. Why Mills is struggling at the end, is because for all his apparent "intelligence" shortcomings, Mills is a good cop. He knows its wrong to kill a suspect. And for me, I think that is the ONLY reason that he hesistated, beyond the shock of the moment...Now me, on the other hand, would have pistol whipped the shit out of John Doe, shot him in the head six or seven times, danced on his corpse, set it on fire, and then pissed out the flames...right or wrong be damned...And there would have been no hesistation.

Isn't Desperado great...Its a crap movie, but one that is saved by some savvy direction and people who were genuinely pleased to be making almost a guerilla/mainstream film. Did you know that Columbia pictures gave Robert Rodriguez 30 mil to make that movie, and he told them to keep it...he only needed 3! That's balls, baby!

You all got me curious, so I did a little lookin'. I can't seem to find Blake's 7 on dvd here in the states, and I don't have a region free player, but when it's released here, I think I'll get S1, it seems cool.
Are the special effects along the lines of UFO? It looks similar in the pictures I saw.
I also saw good reviews of Global Frequency around here...
Good sci-fi needs to be pushed out in the open.

Desperado was an absolutly perfect B movie! I LOVE the way it ends, throwing the case on the road, then coming back for it as the music swells.
I can't believe I couldn't really get into Once Upon A Time In Mexico! I was so hot to see it, and when I did, I was like, hey, why don't I love this movie? Why is Salma now a (dead) killer? How come Depp (who I love, BTW) seems to be the star? Where is Antonio in most of it?

Anyway, I've seen Desperado about 35-40 times.

Glad to see that you cross the i's and dot the t's Chrisisall

Blakes 7 is not yet available in the US on DVD, but they are up to Season 3 (out of 4) in the UK. I imagine it won't be long, as the Dr. who DVDs sell well in the States. Maybe they are waiting to release the whole series as a big box set...

The FX are probably comparable to UFO, or Dr. Who. Although it has a big advantage over Dr. Who in that it is mainly a show about human characters, and very rarely tries to depict monsters or aliens, which are where the budget limitations of Who really showed through.

B7 also has the best ending of any series ever, in my opinion.

Hmm...Half seasons, boxed set should come in at $80 - $90, okay, I'm in.
If Blake's 7 is even half as good as Starlost, I'll be a happy space camper.*

*The last sentance is a joke, and should be in no way construed to suggest that Starlost was in any way an entertaining series.

I don't wanna get flamed.

I'm not familiar with Starlost, although it sounds like something I want to avoid becoming familiar with!

Movies (in chronological order from the first time I saw them, because I'm bored ): the Star Wars OT, The Princess Bride, Space Camp, The Little Mermaid (Disney), Beauty and the Beast (Disney), Independence Day

TV: Firefly: Out of Gas, Shindig, Safe, Serenity, and Objects in Space (I've seen all the episodes too many times to count, but these are the eps I taped from the original airings, and therefore have had more opportunity to watch).

Stargate SG-1: 'Upgrades,' 'Divide and Conquer,' 'Window of Opportunity,' and 'Entity'

Buffy: 'The Wish,' 'Once More With Feeling' and the episodes that were released on those VHS box sets, so basically the end of seasons 2 and 3 and the beginning of season 1.

Angel: 'Hero,' 'I Will Remember You,' 'Smile Time,' and 'You're Welcome'

I know there's more... I watch entirely too much television
