I had a reel to reel in grade school. I actually miss the pops and clicks from my vinyl lp's, too.
I audio taped entire movies to listen to, also.
In 1982 I taped Blade Runner, cause I didn't wanna wait for the videotape to come out (at that time it was like years you waited), that's my most 'listened to' movie.

No, I just haven't met so many with similar interests to my own since the last science fiction convention I went to (in the late 80's!), and I guess I'm making up for lost time.

Prob the movies I've seen the most are:

Grease (lost count after 100+)

The Breakfast Club (again 100+)

Wizard of Oz (watched that sucker every year it came on)

The Little Mermaid (the Disney version)

and the ORIGINAL Star Wars movies.

Well, count me in on the audio taping of TV shows. I used to tape Buck Rogers in the 25th Century when I was a kid 'cause it was on past my bedtime .

I've watched Slingblade (with Billy Bob Thorton and John Ritter) and Disney's Lion King (lots funnier when you've had a coupla wobbly pops) at least a dozen times each. The first disc of Firefly at least that many times too.

Sorry I don't subscribe to the Buffy series. Never liked whatsherface. Angel wasn't bad but never grabbed my attention with ferocity of a staving pitbull like Firefly did. Army of Darkness I watched when it came out originally and thought it was good, but not good enough to inspire me to watch it repetitively. Besides, when you have kids, you have to be....choosey..about what you watch, so it's what ever you can squeeze in between their bedtime and ours.

I've been thinking about this and I realized I left off some movies.

Back in the day Iwatched Breakfast Club all the time. My parents got me hooked on Rocky Horror, who knows how many times I've seen that. Disney's Beauty and the Beast and The Aristocats. The Fifth Element and Galaxy Quest are my space fix. My Fair Lady. Toby Tyler. Pretty much every musical that has ever danced across the screen has danced across my TV at least 20 times. That's a lot of Merman.

As for TV...I was a latch key kid. I grew up with the TV as my friend. I've seen all the great shows, over and over and over. Gilligan, Brady, Donna Reed, Patty Duke, 54, Monkees, Hillbillies repeatedly. Every episode is etched into my brain...poor brain. The one episode I've seen more than any other? The Corbomite Maneuver.

Got to be Blazing Saddles and Fifth Element.

Whenever the world gets just a bit too PC for me, Blazing Saddles goes in the player (so you can imagine it gets quite a workout).

I find something new every time I watch Fifth Element. Maybe just some little thing in the background that makes it more of a real world. And I love the score.

You know that Limp Bizkit line: "I've seen the Fight Club about 28 times."? Well I've seen it far more than that. Dont ask for a precise number cos I've lost count.
I've also seen Plan 9 from Outer Space so many times I almost know it word for word (ditto Fight Club actually). Same goes for the first ep of Red Dwarf.
As much as I love Firefly I barely get a chance to watch it cos I'm always lending it out to people. I really should get a second box set.
