The only part of Buffy that elicited a tear for me was when Buffy was begging Angel not to see the sunrise just before it started to snow ( that was awsome ). Heck, I can think of six or more times DA and FF each had me in tears ( my barometer of a show's greatness, what can I say ).
So: Firefly > Dark Angel > Buffy > Angel- so far:)

One of my favorite "Angel" lines is in the very first episode...
Cordelia: ... nice house, no mirrors, thick curtains...HEY! You're a Vampire!"
A kind word turneth away wrath, but not as well as superior firepower

Russell Winters: "What? No I'm not."
Cordelia: "Are too!"

Really? The only thing I found even slightly affecting throughout DA's run was what Zack did in the finale of S1.

I just rented and watched the first four eps of Angel, and I wasn't all that thrilled...(?)
Oh they get better.... Tell me you didn't love the shot of Angel jumping back into his car and realising it was the wrong car!!!! Mid crisis rescue n' stuff.... Hilarious!
Also are you watching them along with Buffy one after the other as Joss intended?

Okay, yeah, that was really good. And the Spike Narration. I guess I have to adjust to the different feel.
I haven't seen any of Buffy S4 yet, it's not for rent, so I'll have to but it * Chrisisall's wallet begins to twist and heat up* OUCH! What the hell!?!!
Sooner or later Chrisisall

I guess it's what you connect to in a series. My childhood was not as filled with loving joy as some, and I had no brothers or sisters, so Max's search for her brothers and sisters hits home for me. And my, Ahem, uneven love life prior to marrying my wife puts me in touch with the whole Max/Logan angst thing in the 2nd season.
Then there's helping the kid in 'Haven', realizing how messed up Phil was in 'And I Am A Camera', almost killing herself with that implant to save Cindy from the 'Reds' in 'Rising',...as you see, I could go on and on.
For me, the emotional tone of the series was 'street real', even through the whole 'freak of the week' mess they went through.
Oh well, like the song says at the end of every episode,

I quite liked the first season of DA, and I'm not sure my life would have been complete without every season of BtVS. Saying that, compared to the previously mentioned two series, I loved AtS way more.
Trust me, Angel kicks ass. Give it time, let it grow on you, cuz it will. (Firefly is my alltime favorite, but Angel is a VERY close second.)
Nothing can compare to the complexity of Angel and the absolute love that went into it. The love that went into AtS is quite apparent! :) Live it and Love it!
