Hey...I can't wait to see our Big Damn Movie, but I'm not gonna start waiting in line now, to see a movie in September. That runs the chance of a newscrew standing around, taking shots of you that end up on the news while half of humanity points and cries...WHAT A DORK! I leave that to fans of "other" films.

When I got to this site, I found a shiny painting of Kaylee...then another one of Mal. I went to the profile of the one that did 'em. Channain. In one of her flylogs was a listing for an inactive thread called "Ten Things I Learned From Watching Firefly". I know a couple of people who have stayed at this site just because of that thread...See...Firefly fans are like an onion.

Not many fandoms out there condone making fun of the product of their desires...We actually look forward to it...See the many parodies and especially Caption Tightpants on this very site. Not only do we run our favorite show in the ground, we laugh while we do it!

Browncoat sounds better than Trekkie or Trekker, or whatever the hell they're calling themselves now.

Witness the Browncoat in the Boston area who let two someone's have two of his advance screening tickets at face value instead of placing them on eBay and making a tidy sum. Touched I am...right down to my pants!

I'll be back to this one with some more...That was fun! Something else about Firefly that I love...Its fun...not obsession! At least, it doesn't feel that way...That could just mean there's something wrong with me.

Cause we're so damn generous

Just mailed a check to the Al Wooten Heritage Center (Ron Glass's charity) for $75 from a SouthEastern Browncoats fundraiser at MomoCon

Um, this is getting to be a great big group hug.

While that's nice and all, and I'm sure MOST "Firefly Fans are better People", I never was comfortable with anyone saying they were better than anyone. I'm not trying to turn a hose on this love-fest, but seeing as how some of "us" have acted in a pretty lame manner (regarding the theater threats) I felt I had to say sumpin'. After all, the only thing we really have in common is a love of Firefly/Serenity. While that says something about who we are, it makes no one of us better'n anyone else. But it might mean we are better than we used to be.

Hugs and kisses,

Just the ones we're better than.

BTW, I'm not convinced the threats were even made by a Browncoat. It sounds like it was someone who is just like "that" in every aspect of their lives: demanding, selfish, insensitive, sociopathic, etc. NOT the definition of a Browncoat, by far.

It might have been a scalper...I mean, we were given so few details about the "threat". But, in the end, it doesn't matter if even My Mother did it, the result is the same.

And, I don't think I've read anything in this thread to the notion that we think we're better than anyone else. If Browncoats want to give themselves a big group hug, why not let them?

I have been a fan of many other shows...Buffy? When I tried talking to most of them, all I got was a bunch of girls fawning over James Marsters. Dragonball Z...hands down, the rudest fans as a general group I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. The X-Files...They were detached, it seemed. Browncoats seem to have just the right level of involvement to keep from seeming annoying while still reaching out to others, because we have a product that we loved when it was presented to us, and we want others to see it, abbreviated as it may be. But, I've never seen another Browncoat try to force the issue. And, the only Browncoat that I've seen be truly rude (I won't name him, but his net handle starts with an L) was over at the official site. Any time someone new to the world of Firefly comes in their chatroom, he immediately starts cursing and telling them to leave and such. He did the same to me, and even though I had explained to him that I was a fan from long ago and far away, and in fact had been a member of that board since its very beginning, he only got worse. I won't go into his behavior on the day the trailer was shown, but it was deplorable.

I don't think we're claiming, with this thread, that "We're better than" anyone. Just better...you know, good. And, its the truth. Not so much myself, but I know I like the people here (Unfortunately, this applies mostly to this site, and not others), and it seems the more actively you participate with them, the more they warm up to you. But, they are always gracious from the start.

I like your little avatar gif thingy, by the way, GreenFaerie. If that's what you see when you drink Absinthe...sign me up!
