It was definitely on purpose. Three of us are big fffans, we didn't know it was coming but we got it right away. I immediately piped up with "You get a wife and all I get is a dumbass stick sounds like its rainin'??" zaniness ensued. I think the families present thought we were nuts.

I got called out this weekend for quoting Firefly in the middle of an argument with my wife.
manwithpez: I don't know why I have to cook for all these people. I don't even like grilling that much...I mean for you guys its okay, but not for a bunch of people I hardly know.
wifewithpez: Why can't you just like to grill like every other normal man!
manwithpez: In the seven years we've known each other I would think it is abundantly clear (I know that this sounds like a strange and overworded thing to say in an argument with your wife, but I do talk this way...drives her batty)that I am not every other "NORMAL" man!
wifewithpez: Well, you should try!
manwithpez: Woman, you are completely off your nut!
wifewithpez: Don't you quote Firefly at me!
And, in this short conversation with my son, who had just farted:
'lilmanwithpez: My FARTED DATTY!
manwithpez: Son, I'm trying to think of a way you could be more disgusting...it's just not coming to me.
He does it again and laughs, laughs, and laughs!

Anytime my wife and I watch a movie were what appears to be a main character is killed off quickly, she usually exclaims the same thing...much as she did when Kaylee got shot in Serenity.

Sometimes, trying to produce a Firefly moment can backfire...Well, not backfire so much as just not work..case in point:
manwithpez (to my 2 year old son): Son, say "I aim to misbehave."
'lilmanwithpez: (Stares blankly)
manwithpez: Say "I aim to misbehave."
'lilmanwithpez: (Grins, but says nothing)
manwithpez: Say "I....aim...."
wifewithpez: Alexander, say "I.....aim..."
'lilmanwithpez: NO!
And he laughs maniacally.

And, my daughter now no longer hums the rest of the song, but just the opening chords...Maybe I haven't been forcing them to watch "Pireply" enough lately...

I have recently looked at my voter registration and I am happy to say I am an Independent (no actual party affiliation aside from Independent, but still.)
And my girlfriend at the moment is refered to as Baobei.
And I tend to say gorramit when things don't go my way.
Does that make me obsessed?
