During Broadcast.

Was curious about it from the previews, but was so aggravated at what the new Star Trek I had looked forward to so much had become that I was purposely in the opposite end of the house from the TV during "The Train Job", trying to ignore my husband's whoops and cries of "You gotta come see this!" He turned it up, trying to entice me. I was being stubborn.

Then, I heard a strange exchange:
Conspiratorial man's voice, "Whatever happens, remember I love you."
Professional woman's voice, "Sir?"
Man, "Because you're my wife."
Woman, "Right. Sir. Honey."
And I had to know what was going on. I got to see the entire exchange with the sheriff, the brute on the bridge, and the Captain being noble with the medicine.

I was hooked.

"Is there any way I'm gonna get out of this with honor and dignity?"

Defintely during broadcast, but I had to be brought around...Was already a big Buffy and even bigger Angel fan, but the promos for Firefly just looked so...strange. To me, the promos looked liked...forced weirdness, if that's the right way to describe it. Watched The Train Job, and was not terribly excited by the teaser. But that theme song and title sequence...Knowing now, what I didn't know then, that the opening credits show you all you need to know really, and that beautiful song...and horses, and guns, and hot chicks and what an awesome ship! From the moment those first chords struck, I was a Browncoat for life. And, I tried, I really tried to watch the show, but I got moved to swing shift shortly after, so the only ones I got to see first run were Bushwhacked, Shindig, and Ariel (yeah, I don't know how that happened either.) Saw DVDs in the BX in Korea, snatched those bad boys up, watched the set three times, ran around on the internet, and found this site...Haken's holy grail to all the Browncoats!

Well...here I am.

Kaylee: "What's so damn important about being proper? It don't mean nothing out here in the black."
Simon: "It means more out here. It's all I have..."

DB(I guess)- A huge fan of Buffy and a somewhat lesser one of Angel, so of course I had to see what Joss's idea of sci-fi would be. I was interested from the instant I heard of it. Too bad I was scared of the internet back then, or I'd have been a member of this site for years. Not sure if that qualifies me for BF, since I can't really say I was hooked until I saw the show, though I was very interested.

AD - long time Joss fan, but it was my first semester in college, so I didn't do much staying in on Friday nights.

Keep shiny!

AD

It's so strange for me. I vaguely remebered a series on FOX which I never managed to catch, and did an internet search. I found that the series had been cacelled, but there was a DVD out. I read the reviews, and took a risk and bought the DVD series. I am so glad I did! Ever since I have been waiting for more, and now the movie is coming out!

DB and AD for me. Firefly started airing here on March 3rd, 2004 right around the time the BDM got the official green light.

Started watching Firefly because it was a Joss Whedon show and science fiction. I wasn’t hooked at first but kept watching. I started lurking here a couple of weeks later and joined a few weeks after that. Took about a month for me to realize I was a Browncoat but at that time I had only technically seen one episode from beginning to the end and read the script for the real pilot episode.

I ordered the DVDs before they had finished airing the series.
