I'm only a little more than halfway through season 4 right now, and I think it is the best season I've seen so far.

Netflix good, Blockbuster bad.

Just think of Blockbuster as the Alliance and you wouldn't be far wrong.

Season 4 has some of the most brilliant stand-alone episodes, but as a whole I don't think of it very highly.

'Cause I feel like it, my list would probably be (from best to worst)...

3, 6, 7, 2, 5, 4, 1

And, really, 3, 6, 7 and 2 are in a very close race. The show is just overall so incredible.

I'm not sure how to help on the actual GETTING of season 4, though. Everyone else has mentioned places like Blockbuster and Netflix. Some movie rental chains are starting to carry TV shows. You could also buy it and sell it or give it to a friend...something like that. *shrug*

I so to-tally get Embers there! Fantasy outdoes sci-fi everytime (I can feel the bullets coming for me now).

Having said that the series ending wasn't a patch on S2, S5 and S6.

I may be a Buffyverse noob, but everything I have seen of it so far leads me to believe that the "relationship drama" is what the series was really all about, and not the cool bad guys.

I agree that the show is in a large part about relationships. All of Whedon's shows are about the relationships of the main people. They're about families people make rather than the ones they're born into. The shows wouldn't be nearly as good if they were just about beating up the cool new bad guys.
That little main conversation tangent done with, I can only suggest the same as everyone else, look for the seasons at a rental place. And go through them all. I loved every season. And season 6 was great because it had "Once More With Feeling". Nobody is allowed to say bad things about a season with such a cool musical episode. That is all.

Angel's dull as a table lamp. And we have very different coloring.

Have you tried your local library? Some of them have these kinds of DVDs for checkout.
