Russian forces leveraged a new strike tactic allowing Russia to threaten more areas of Ukraine for longer periods of time and disproportionately affect civilian areas — tactics first debuted during the largest Russian strikes series of the war thus far on March 23 to 24.[8] Ukrainian Air Force Spokesperson Colonel Yuriy Ihnat noted that Russian forces timed the waves of strikes such that the first wave of drones overnight acted almost as “combat reconnaissance” ahead of the two main waves of strikes.[9] Ihnat noted that Russian forces used cruise missiles in the first wave and ballistic missiles in the second wave. Russian forces most likely intended to exhaust Ukrainian air defenses with long-range drones and cruise missiles, for both of which Ukrainian forces have high interception rates, ahead of ballistic missile strikes, which Ukrainian forces struggle to intercept. Ukraine relies on US-provided Patriot air defense systems and interceptors to down Russian ballistic missiles, underscoring Ukraine’s urgent need for both Patriot interceptors in particular and a well-rounded air defense umbrella.[10] Russia likely seeks to take advantage of a global shortage of Patriot interceptors and the current war in the Middle East to escalate its strike campaign against Ukraine.

Hornet and Bumblebee are likely the first mass-produced representatives of a new class: autonomous kamikaze drones with AI guidance that don't require manual guidance. Their appearance on the front lines and deep in the rear is already changing the calculus for both sides: the rear is no longer a safe zone, and traditional electronic warfare systems are losing some of their effectiveness. The race between these drones and countermeasures is one of the main technological trends in this conflict. Hornet is currently ahead in this race.

Both munitions are virtually undetectable by standard detectors and radio frequency scanners. They are immune to electronic warfare systems—a standard tool used by Russian units to actively protect their positions from unmanned aerial threats. The Telegram channel "Molot Witchm," associated with the "Ghost of Novorossiya" project, puts it bluntly:

"This is an extremely dangerous UAV: it is difficult to hear, it is not detected by detectors, it flies deep into our rear areas and is resistant to electronic warfare."

Ukraine's new NASA-inspired 'Martian' killer drones 'break the laws of physics'

Ukraine's new NASA-inspired 'Martian' drone is causing unprecedented losses among the Russian invaders, and could turn the tide of Putin's 'special operation'

It’s this new technological revolution that’s causing a devastating rise in Russian casualties. Ukraine claimed Russian casualties were at 35,351 in March 2026 , with drones causing 96% of them. That casualty rate was a 29% increase on the reported figure for February.

These massive losses are slowing Russian progress to a crawl according to estimates from Washington-based think tank The Institute for the Study of War [ISW]

Russian forces captured an average of 5.5sq km a day this year, compared to 10.66sq km a day in the middle of last year and 14.9sq km a day at the end of 2024, the ISW said. And every inch of that ground is being paid for with more and more Russian lives.

(t me/Ghost_Malleus_Maleficarum/1331):

The strike-wing “Hornet/Martian-2” is the most dangerous threat to logistics in our rear

Our friends from one unit provided us with an almost intact UAV “Martian-2” for study (the exact name is in question; some also call it “Hornet”).

This drone is very actively terrorizing our rear areas; there are confirmed cases of our vehicles being hit at distances of >50 km from the line of contact (Mariupol highway). The main activity is in the Pokrovsk direction (Selydove/Ocheretyne), but they are encountered everywhere, including the Belgorod direction.

On our channel, we will gradually publish a detailed teardown report of all components of this drone, but for now we will provide a very preliminary description (there may be errors at this stage).

• The drone is assembled to a very high standard; this is evident even from the cabling used, which is aviation-grade. Overall, this suggests either that the drone is assembled in the West, or that the enemy has significantly increased the quality of its drone production.

• The drone is equipped with two daytime cameras (forward-facing and downward-facing) and possibly a very effective terminal guidance system; the lower camera may be used for auto-targeting. Despite having daytime cameras, there are recorded cases of attacks at dusk, meaning there may also be variants with low-light or thermal cameras. The drone's priority targets are our equipment and vehicles, but in some cases it has switched to attacking infantry (so small groups and forward positions may also be among its priority targets).

• Nets over logistics routes are largely ineffective against this drone.

• The warhead and initiation system will be analyzed separately, but typically it is a cumulative-fragmentation warhead weighing around 1.5 kg, with detonation occurring almost 100% of the time. As a result, intact examples are very rare—usually only "tail sections" remain.

• In most cases, the drone flies at low altitudes (around 200 m) along our transport routes, then locks onto a target and strikes. It approaches the target very quietly, and typically not everyone has time to react.

• Communication and frequencies were previously analyzed in one of the Telegram channels; we add that the range may be very wide: besides 2000 or 3000 MHz, it may also include 1700-1900 and 160-1801 450-480. Communication uses digital modems that are not detected by standard drone detectors; additionally, the drone likely supports a MESH system, meaning it is networked with other such wings.

• The drone is equipped with a simple GNSS antenna, but it is unclear whether it is used for the entire flight or only for marking the launch point.

From these preliminary data, it can be concluded that this is an extremely dangerous UAV: it is hard to hear, not detected by standard detectors, operates deep in our rear, and is resistant to EW. Additionally, since it is a fixed-wing aircraft, it is very difficult to shoot down with small arms (unless hitting the flight controller/warhead/battery). The best countermeasure is an FPV interceptor or a “tree” (anti-drone obstacle).

Donetsk was Russia’s safe rear. Now AI drones hunt its supply trucks.

Relentless Ukrainian strikes on Russian air defenses are rendering wide swathes of the Russian rear area defenseless against further aerial attacks.

• The degradation of Russian air defenses means Ukrainian drones can attack with greater freedom

• Drones are striking Russian logistics in Donetsk city, once a safe haven for Russian forces

• Recent attacks include strikes by Al-assisted Hornet drones that can get through Russian jamming

Russia’s Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missile is extremely hard to intercept. That’s why Ukraine wants its own version of the missile.

By David Axe

Ukraine is developing its own version of Russia's Kinzhal air-launched ballistic missile. If the air-launched version of Fire Point's FP-9 missile actually works, it could significantly expand the area of Russia where Ukrainian forces can inflict lasting damage on air bases, factories, oil refineries and other strategic targets.

Fire Point has been working on the FP-9 for many months. But it wasn't until recently that Fire Point chief engineer Denys Shtilerman revealed that the ground-launched ballistic missile could eventually evolve into an air-launched ballistic missile in the same class as the 4,300-kg Kinzhal.

Ranging as far as 850 km with an 800-kg warhead, the precision-guided FP-9 is a bigger version of Fire Point's FP-7 ground-launched ballistic missile, which ranges 200 km with a 150-kg warhead. The FP-7 is already in testing. Fire Point plans to begin testing of the FP-9 as early as this summer.

Launching a ballistic missile from the air instead of the ground extends its range by potentially hundreds of kilometers.

Air-launched ballistic missiles are uniquely powerful munitions. Their high speed makes them extremely hard to intercept.

Fire Point Flamingo (often FP-5) and FP-7 are different weapon systems developed by Ukrainian defense firm Fire Point. The Flamingo is a long-range cruise missile designed for deep strikes (up to 3,000 km), while the FP-7 is a fast, shorter-range, tactical ballistic missile meant for destroying specific targets with high precision at 200 km distances.

Fire Point Flamingo (FP-5)

• Type: Long-range, low-altitude cruise missile (jet-powered).

• Range: Up to 3,000 km (approx. 1,800 miles).

• Warhead/Payload: Large, estimated at over 1,000 kg (up to 1,150 kg).

• Purpose: Deep-strike, long-range targeting of oil refineries and military factories far inside Russia.

• Characteristics: Uses Carbon fiber fuselage, slow speeds (approx. 950 km/h), long endurance.

Fire Point FP-7

• Type: Tactical ballistic missile (supersonic).

• Range: Approximately 200-300 km.

• Warhead/Payload: Smaller, approximately 150 kg.

• Purpose: Rapid deployment to strike frontline or rear command centers and infrastructure, similar to ATACMS.

• Characteristics: High speed (up to 1,500 m/s, 5400 kilometers per hour), composite structure, high-precision targeting (14m CEP). A 14m CEP (Circular Error Probable) in missile accuracy means that if a large number of missiles are fired at a specific target, 50% of them will land within a circle with a radius of 14 meters (approximately 46 feet) centered on that target.

Key Differences Summary
The primary difference is that the Flamingo is designed for extreme-range, high-destruction, slow-speed, and low-altitude impact against strategic targets, while the FP-7 is a fast-reacting ballistic weapon intended to strike tactical targets within a 300km range.

Firepoint FP-7 and FP-9 Comparison

• Role & Deployment: The FP-7 is a short-range, ground-launched tactical missile similar to ATACMS, nearing deployment. The FP-9 is a longer-range, advanced “game changer" designed for deep strikes to hit targets like Moscow.

• Range & Performance:
FP-7: Operates at a range of roughly 200-300 km.
FP-9: Offers a vastly greater range of 800-855 km.

• Speed & Warhead:
FP-7: Reaches speeds of around 1,500 m/s with a roughly 150 kg warhead.
FP-9: Travels faster at approximately 2,200 m/s, delivering a much larger 800 kg warhead.

• Accuracy and Specifications Comparison
FP-7 (Tactical): Designed for medium-range precision, offering an accuracy of around 14-15 meters (Circular Error Probable). It is designed to strike targets up to 300 km away (initially 200 km)

Russian Kills Himself. But That Is Not Really News.

Russian and Ukrainian media, as well as other pro-Moscow milbloggers, confirmed the content to be authentic and that Zemtsov’s current rank was Guards Senior Lieutenant.

Zemtsov was an outspoken supporter of Russia’s second invasion of Ukraine. In a Nov. 5 2025 post he called for Ukrainian drone pilots captured by Russian forces to be murdered on the spot – a by-definition war crime.

“And then the [vulgar Russian hate word for Ukrainians] are surprised and whine when their drone pilots are wiped out on the spot, and aren’t taken prisoner. I’ll tell you more, we are going to keep on nullifying [Russian army slang for “kill helpless person] them. Because these animals have become accustomed to such things. And there’s only one way to fight an animal infected with rabies: A bullet to the forehead,” Senior Lieutenant Zemtsov explained to his 160,000+ followers.

Zemtsov’s final post, placed on his blog late on Wednesday, was a photograph of a military cap with a Russian Federation flag, and a military shoulder badge saying “As you are leaving, kill them all.”

Who's funding all of this, and what are their end goals?

That's the only question that matters.

Ukraine can't afford any of this. Not the research. Not the weapons. Nothing.

Why is the person or people funding Ukraine operating in secret? They should be loud and proud about it since so many of you would cheer them on mindlessly.

Hey... for all we know, it could be Trump.

News stories about the US researching and creating even more deadly ways to fight wars would not be popular even under a Democratic President. But under a Democratic President, our media would remain completely silent about it. Trump is President now though, and if a single hint of this activity were known, it would be front page news on the NYT and everywhere else. Just another day, just another Trump hit piece.

But if he were to continue military R&D offshore, particularly in the Ukraine with the intent to make life worse for Putin, he'd probably get away with it. Not only because the Lefty media won't even bother investigating where the money is actually coming from, but on the off chance that they do and tried linking it to Trump, he could call them all hypocrites since funding and aiding Ukraine is something they've been 100% behind since this all started.

Maybe this is all part of the mineral deal and you're being played?

We know that whore Zelensky would do or say anything for a buck.

. . . IMF support program for Ukraine amounts to approximately $135 billion . . .

IMF withdraws previous scenario for Ukraine. New outlook is much more gloomy — but not without silver lining

The IMF just changed its baseline assumption on the country.

By Olena Mukhina | 19/04/2026

Director of the IMF's European Department, Alfred Kammer, has said that the organization's forecast has been revised. The IMF has significantly downgraded its projection for Ukraine’s economic growth in 2026, lowering expectations to 2%, per Texty.

The forecast was revised downward due to a change in the baseline scenario for the war's duration. It now assumes a continued active phase of the war for at least another year.

Economic outlook worsens amid prolonged war and energy strikes

According to Kammer, an additional factor behind the revision is the ongoing strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, which continue to affect economic activity.

Previously, under the IMF’s new program, growth estimates had already been reduced to a range of 1.8–2.5%, and have now effectively been set at around 2%.

IMF notes Ukraine’s resilience in financial and monetary policy

At the same time, the Fund positively assesses the National Bank of Ukraine’s efforts to contain inflation under wartime conditions. It also expects the Ukrainian government to gradually increase tax revenues, which is viewed as part of a transition toward a more sustainable European-style economy.

For the Ukrainian population, rising taxes have become a heavy burden amid threefold increased prices, previous tax hikes, and widespread power shortages. Many entrepreneurs have also joined the military effort.

Financial support remains a key condition for stability

The current IMF support program for Ukraine amounts to approximately $135 billion over four years. The Fund emphasizes that these resources are needed not only to cover immediate expenses but also to ensure the long-term functioning of state institutions and social services.

The IMF also references Europe’s experience during the energy crisis, when broad subsidy spending in 2022 averaged 2.5% of GDP. It argues that more effective assistance to the poorest households would be targeted, at a cost of around 0.9% of GDP, stressing the need for more focused social policy going forward.
