Since I was a kid, I've noticed that evil people always have a self-centered justification for why they stole, lied, beat their wife/girlfriend, cheated on taxes, killed a prisoner, shoddy workmanship, faked their expense report, etc. There is no way to fix what is wrong with them, whether Trumptards or Russians. You just have to fire them or shoot them. (Evil people think eliminating evil is evil. It is more like throwing spoiled food in the dumpster. Too bad that Trumptards are rotten fruit.)

Two weeks into Ukraine’s southeastern counteroffensive, Ukrainian forces are still advancing from the west and north, squeezing one key Russian field army.
Ukrainian casualties have increased as the Russians rush reinforcements and firepower toward their fracturing southeastern positions. But frantic Russians are sloppy Russians — so Russian casualties have spiked, too.
Consider one particularly bloody recent skirmish around the village of Dobropillia, which anchors the western edge of the Russian 36th Combined Arms Army’s positions straddling Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia Oblasts in the southeast.
As many as 15 Russians were killed or wounded when they unwisely piled into a single unarmored truck and rolled along the T0401 highway just north of Dobropillia in broad daylight on or just before Wednesday.

More and more it seems that people are understanding the reality of what is happening. Ukraine is not collapsing (first point) and the Trump administration is not “negotiating” a peace deal between the Ukrainians and Russians. For the past 14 months (and longer with the Ukraine collapse narrative) much, I would say most, of the reporting of the war was not based around reality but lies and distortions—many of them deliberate. The collapse narrative has been pushed relentlessly by the analytical community and the Trump administration who were trying to maintain that they both knew what they were talking about when they did not. The negotiations narrative was sadly enabled by a press that was too afraid of Trump to report the truth. And that truth was what we are seeing is an attempt by the US government to force the Ukrainians to give Putin what he wants, and in exchange it seems like bribes are to go to the US. The inability of this to be reported honestly is shameful. Both of these stories will figure in this update.

Russia struck a sweets factory in northeastern Ukraine owned by the American multinational company Mondelez on Feb. 21, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said in a post on X.
The factory, located in Trostianets in Sumy Oblast, was struck by a missile, Sybiha said. The plant has operated since the 1990s, and produces a range of well-known products, including Oreo and Milka.
"When Russia targets facilities owned by American companies on Ukrainian soil, it does so knowingly," Yulia Svyrydenko, Ukraine's prime minister, posted on social media on Feb. 22.
According to Svyrydenko, Mondelez has invested more than $250 million into the factory over the years.
A video posted to LinkedIn by Svyrydenko shows the factory heavily damaged after the attack. The extent of the damage and the potential cost to repair the factory remain unclear.
Andy Hunder, president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine — of which Mondelez is a member — told the Kyiv Independent that targeted strikes against American owned companies are nothing new.
"Forty-seven percent of the members of the American Chamber of Commerce have had damage or destruction to their facilities across Ukraine," he said.
