On Sunday March 6, a few of us showed up to chat awhile. We didn't get 'round to watchin' an ep.
Sunday March 13 was quite a different story. Close to a dozen of us dropped in @some point, with 'bout half a dozen staying for hours. We watched Safe, & the pilot with commentary.

So, is there going to be a viewing tonight? Wait, have I already missed it...I what time zone is this? What the hell...where am I? I just had Korean time figured out, and now I have to puzzle out North Carolina time!
Again, where am I?

Well, in my experience there usually isn't a viewing on Tuesdays, just chatting. I usually get an invite sometime between 3:30pm and 4:00pm PST, which should be 6:30 to 7:00 Eastern time, or midnite-ish GMT. Not that you need an invite, by the way. Try dropping in on the 'Firefly' chat room on the AIM system just about any time, there's a chance one or more other fans will be there. Or you might find fans of some pub in the UK which happens to also be called the Firefly

Was that a GPS-type question or more philosophical? Not that I can help you either way...
Edited to add:
I'll probably be idling in the chat room most of the day, but mostly trying to get work done.

These get togethers sound like a good time...but the new guy needs some help. How do I get to the "AIM system"?

I know this has been covered before, but I'm not sure how to find it so...
If you are running Mac OS X, just use iChat, which should have been installed with the OS. You'll also need to get a free AIM account, see below.
If you are using Windows, try downloading the AIM client from http://www.aim.com/.
On that same page there is a 'Get Help!' section which has a link called registration. You can follow the instructions there to get a free account.
Once you have your account, just start the client and put the account name and password in. Then you need to go to the 'Firefly' chat room (without the quotes). In iChat you go to the 'File' menu and choose the 'Go To Chat...' option, then type in Firefly. I'm not sure exactly how it works with AIM or any other client but there should be something similar.
Hope that helps.

That was great help! Thanks...I'm assuming that someone usually sets up the 'firefly' chat room ahead of time? I can't seem to find any function that allows you to skim through lists of currently active chat rooms.

Well, I've got it loaded...here's hoping.

Well maybe I'm not a fancy gentleman like you, with your...very fine hat. But I do business...we're here for business.

Basically, if anyone is logged into a chat room, then it exists. No one has to specifically create it.
And, as far as I know, there is no way to get a list of all existing chat rooms. For one thing, the list would probably change too fast for it to be of much use.
I'll leave myself logged into the Firefly room today, just in case you want to try it.
Or you can add me to your buddy list. My AIM screen name is 'bleyddyn@mac.com' (without the quotes), which looks like an email address, but isn't.

There are two kinds of chat rooms: public, and private (in British parlance, "government run" and "public", respectively). We chat in a private room. Even if there were a browsable list of active rooms, you wouldn't find it.
In the few chat clients with which I am familiar, one cannot send an active invitation-link for a public chat room. Corollarily, one must be invited to a private chat room. However, fortunately, one can invite oneself.
Getting back to your question: it doesn't matter. If the room doesn't exist, and you invite yourself to it, AIM will create it then.

Post your AIM ID here. That way we can add it to our Buddy Lists, & someone may invite you to a Virtual Shindig. You must be logged on to your Instant Messenger client to receive an invitation.
My AIM ID is YT13
By the b'ye, I can't make it to the VS this coming Sunday, March 20. Hope to meet you the following week.
