Friend introduced me to Firefly, autumn 2002, w/coupla eps on VHS (yah, crap video), Train Job & Our Mrs Reynolds. Thought it OK.
Labour Day weekend 2003, in a room full of fans, I saw 'bout half of the DVD, including the three unaired eps & special features, but missed the pilot. Liked it.
Preordered two sets of the DVD, for my friend & me. Watching the pilot, I fell in love when Serenity moved (silently) away from the derelict, rotated (silently) about its centre of mass, and blasted off (silently) out of sight. My love grew as the characters were revealed with the story, or vice versa, and by the end I knew I'd just watched one of the greatest pilot eps in history.
I've liked other TV shows, but never been a fan before.
