the New Wicked? adapting the second act of the 2003 stage musical loosely based on The Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel.
huge gap between US domestic and some of those predicted and expected worldwide earnings, its a massive rift and seems to only do ok in the English speaking world.

Wicked 1 made $756 Million worldwide.
Avatar 1 made $2.923 BILLION worldwide back in 2009 which after 16 years and 4 years of Bidenflation in the middle of it is probably closer to $5 Billion today than it is to $3 Billion.
Avatar 2 three years ago made $2.322 BILLION.

So what if Wicked 2 is making 30% more domestically and 17% more internationally on opening weekend? Absolute BEST case scenario it breaks $1 Billion (and I'm being EXTREMELY generous saying that).
For Wicked 2 to be the top grossing movie of 2025, Avatar 3 would have to lose about 60% of it's 2022 audience without even factoring in 3 years of inflation to those numbers.

I can't find the thread where I was talking about Wicked 2. It wasn't the Hollywood thread in the
RWED either. Oh well.
I'd already posted that on Monday and Tuesday that Wicked 2 was about $1 Million lower per day
than the first Wicked last year.
Friday was a bad drop though...
Last year on the 2nd Friday, Wicked made $31,728,865
Last night, Wicked 2 only made $26,050,000.
Despite the initial opening weekend bump, it doesn't look like the interest is still there.
I said I was being generously conservative with Bruce and that Wicked 2 could possibly end up
grossing right around $1 Billion vs whatever A3 is going to make, but that's clearly not the case.
Wicked made $756 Million worldwide last year. I don't believe that W2 will cross that threshold now.
It really depends on how Monday looks, actually. After the Thanksgiving holiday came to a close,
the next Monday saw a 72% drop from the previous week, and by that Thursday it had made less than
$5 Million. It is possible that maybe save Cheap Seat Tuesday, W2 will make less than $5 Million
per day all week leading into Weekend 3.
