I didn't watch the video, but I went through all 3 of the lists. They always pick the same movies to the point you think they're all cheating off of each other.
Not that I can argue many of them at all. Those are good lists regardless.
I'm just waiting for people to give Kevin Kostner a break and admit that The Postman and Waterworld were great movies.
I also want to see Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within its due, as well as the Super Mario Bros. movie.
Final Fantasy wasn't in that video, was it Jaynez? That thumbnail made me think of it.
I never understood the hate for that movie. I say that as a hard-core fan of the series ever since I was a 10 year old renting the first game for Nintendo every weekend. It really pissed off on the weekends I'd go there to rent it and somebody else had it, or during the week somebody else played it and erased my save game.
I tapped out after FF 12, but when this movie came out you'd have been hard pressed to find a bigger Final Fantasy fan than me or my younger brother. And the funny thing is, as much as I liked it, he hated it.
Sure... The movie had nothing to do with Final Fantasy, but at least for a few more years none of the Final Fantasy games had anything to do with each other.
Sure... The movie was futuristic sci-fi, but like the Might and Magic series before it, FF had already started to dabble in themes that weren't all about medieval times and swords and sorcery. Final Fantasy IV, known here as Final Fantasy II for the Super Nintendo started out like any other fantasy story in the series, but ended with a giant mechanical robot of unknown origin, the Tower of Bab-il, and a space-worthy craft that would take you to the moon and back.
I thought the voice acting was amazing with an all star cast that I remember included Edward Norton and Donald Sutherland. The 3D models they made for the human characters were by far the most realistic I had ever seen up until that point, and probably for quite a few years afterward. And the story was good enough to be its own thing even though it wasn't anything groundbreaking. But it was still really tense at parts, and that's because the voice acting sold it and you actually cared about the characters. It was so different than most things coming out back then that I enjoyed it just for the novelty.
If you've never seen it before, I'd say it's worth a watch.
