Like I said the other day in the cinema board, I've never seen Street Fighter. I think I could still enjoy it for what it was today, but it wouldn't be the same as if I saw it back when I was a kid and had nostalgia for it now.
I've always felt the same way about the Super Mario Bros. movie that came out around the same time. I knew it was disappointing when I was watching it, but I'd come to expect that with bad Batman sequels, all the other bad video game movies, and worst of all what they did to the Ninja Turtles after that truly amazing first indie movie that nobody wanted to touch until everybody wanted a piece of it.
I thought it was kind of cool when people stopped hating on Super Mario Bros so much and delving a little bit deeper than the surface level stuff that is totally ridiculous in retrospect with all the "lore" in the franchise 30 years later that was non-existent back then. It's a lot better than people remember it and give it credit for. There's actually a few pretty smart jokes that have nothing at all to do with video games hidden in there too that just fly by people who aren't well read or otherwise in the know. Then finding out about the behind the scenes story years later was a real fun addition to it all. That story is crazy, and even more entertaining than the movie itself ever was.
I loved hearing that Julia did that Street Fighter gig for his kids though, even knowing what he was facing down in his own life (it may have been his grand kids or nephews/nieces he did it for... I don't remember the story). He gave that role a Christopher Lee level of seriousness when it deserved nothing greater than post 2000 Steven Segal.

Unless Id Software or any of the core developers were there working on it, I don't consider it Wolfenstein. It's like saying Disney Star Wars had anything to do with Real Star Wars.
