Cretton departed, Waldron replaced Loveness as writer, and Marvel was considering moving away from the Kang storyline, in part due to Majors's legal issues; Majors was fired the following month. The return of the Russo brothers as directors and McFeely as co-writer, the casting of Downey as new villain Doctor Doom, and the new subtitle Doomsday were all announced in July 2024.

I'll bet you that telling everyone years ahead of time who was playing Dr. Doom is going to leave everyone who sees this movie feeling real cheated that they didn't get that reveal on opening night.
This is just symbolic of how bad Disney is at telling stories in the 2020s.

FF4 falls another -60% on Weekend 3 for only $15 Million, once again disappointing Bruce and falling another $4 Million below his own expectations. With only $30 Million internationally coming in for the entire last week, it's not looking good for Disney.
I have high doubts we even see the $500 Million Disney needed to break even with their $200 Million budget figure we all know is a lie in the first place.
All 3 Disney Super Hero movies to come out in 2025 were flops. Ironhart on Disney+ was a flop.
"Eyes of Wakanda" will be a flop when it comes out.
Black not-"Wonderman" will be a flop when it comes out.
And unless they find some magical crossover of the few people who still give a shit about Marvel, pay for Disney+ AND still care a lick about Zombies in 2025, "Marvel Zombies" will be a flop when it comes out.

Like I said before though, once it hit break even point there wasn't much left for it to make. It only made $7.8 Million over the weekend. It will make $4 Million next weekend.
With no huge movies on the near horizon and FF4 being a flop, WB might get lucky and eek out $50-$70 Million out of this one. Nothing I would be celebrating. Especially not when recognizing if things went the other way and FF4 ended up being a Billion Dollar movie for Disney, Superman would not have broken even.
I think it's time that James Gunn gets retired from making movies in general. He's clearly lost his touch and the switch from Disney to WB didn't really do him any favors.
I suppose putting out the first DC property in a while that wasn't complete dog shit and a financial loss for WB IS an improvement, but this isn't the win they were hoping for. I don't understand why they keep giving these losers 2nd and 3rd and 5th and 10th chances when everything they touch turns to shit.
