Think of how many hats a cop has to wear at any given time. If you are dealing with domestic problems, wouldn't it be great if you called 911 and someone who works with others regarding domestic issues shows up instead of cops.
If someone with mental health issues needs assistance. How about 911 gets you a mental health specialist instead of cops? As it stands now you'd have to call COPE which is terribly underfunded, and has a phone number instead of something simple like 911. These are but a few of the changes the people who know about this shit are pushing for. Not shutting down police departments.
