There are less fires burning in BC today when from 73 down to 67. Not great but better. All fires burning seem to be in the northeastern part of the province. Close to the Rockies and BC's natural border with Alberta. It will be cooler up there and just a little rain but it won't do much. Then it crosses the Rockies into Alberta and a little more out there.

My cousin and her family in Northern Alberta may have to evacuate. The fire is just outside a small community called Beaverlodge. The winds have shifted direction. She said they've been getting ash all day. So, we'll just have to see what happens tomorrow. I know she and her family will leave if need be.

BC has gone up one. 68 fires burning. 155 properties in the Interior on evacuation notices.

There will be some rain coming into the north of BC over the weekend. But my corner is going to heat up. Looks even where I am, temps could reach almost 90F.

Stay safe, Brenda. You're pretty densely urban around you, aren't you? Like a lot of concrete and the trees are really just there for decoration?

You get yourself stocked up in case you need to stay inside to avoid the smoke for a few days?

How's your cooling situation? Do you know somebody who has A/C that you could stay for a while if you need to and you don't have your own? I always think of ice when I think of Canada and I know that's stupid, but is A/C pretty common up there or more of a rarity?

Is your water from the tap good, or do you need to stock up on some water?

Yeah, it is pretty urban around me. My building sits in the middle of the shopping district. There are trees and most line the streets but there is a park not far from me that has to be watched. Little fires over the last couple of years have started in there. But we are lucky that we also get a breeze from the river my city is right next too.

I am thinking about stocking up and other things like my meds.

I've got one fan and I probably should be able to get another. But no I don't have A/C. Don't worry about it. I have heard that story about ice and snow all year round in Canada for years.
A/C is becoming more common up here because of the heat dome that sat over my area a couple of years ago. And there are a lot of cooling centres around. Malls, the library and such.

It's tap water and it should be okay. A lot of water pipes and such have been replaced and fixed over the last few years in various cities around me. But stores do have cases of bottled water in them if needed.

Sounds like you've got it under control.

Might want to get those scrips and stock up on a few other things while you're out just to be on the safe side. At least you won't have to worry about the weight of carting around a bunch of water with your good tap water inside, but maybe if you can at least pick up a gallon or two in your travels to have on hand in case something else happens and the water becomes an issue. I'm sure they're going to be using a lot of the local supply to be putting out fires rather than using it for what it usually gets used for (taking showers, washing dishes, drinking water, etc.).

Or... I'm sure you've got some drinking pitchers and the like in your cabinets. Might want to let your tap run for a minute or two and fill a few of them up for your fridge right now.

You have made some good points though. And so far we have been lucky that there haven't been any water restrictions issued but as fire season goes on that could change. Will have to keep an ear out on that.

Well, two people have been arrested in Saskatchewan for setting two different fires. That's good. The premier of the province announced that today.

Oh no....

I'm seeing one of them arrested was an 18 year old woman "from the Cree Nation".

They're saying the other one is a 36 year old man from a place called "Pelican Narrows".

Both of them said to be unrelated to each other. The only variance on this story that I've seen has been that there may have been 2 men involved in the case of the guy who got arrested. No names or any other information given that I can tell yet.

I've been doing some serious looking into it and I haven't found anything more out. All the articles that even say that much are all copy and paste jobs and basically say the same thing, and I think they're all copying a story by The Canadian Press News. (Are they a legit outfit? I don't read much Canadian news and have no objective opinion of them).

I wouldn't know how to try to access any public records in Canada and honestly with the way this wacky world is all topsy-turvy at the moment I don't think it would behoove me to try to learn about it right now, if ya get me.

I remember when people didn't intentionally set forests on fire and burn 7,000+ homes down.

We got to get back to that again.
