Wildfire season has come and once again it is my side of the country burning badly. There air quality warnings going from Manitoba into parts of Ontario because there is so much smoke. Manitoba premier Wab Kinew declared a state of emergency yesterday. Today it was Saskatchewan that declared one. BC so far is in better shape. Alberta has at least 24 active fires burning in province. People are being evacuated to Edmonton.

That sounds pretty bad.
Is it like the one from a few years ago, or do they think they'll get this one under control?
How far away are you? You're not in a place where you'd worry about anything besides the smoke if it did get bad, are you?

Looks bad, a firestorm that creates and sustains its own wind system
I seen a few videos online

This could be as bad as that few years ago. Buildings have been lost and lots of smaller communities are being moved for safety reasons. But sometimes safety means driving on one road through the fires that are burning on either side.
I'm too far south on the coast thank goodness. But even where I am over the last few years we get the smoke and air quality advisories have been put out for people with lung problems.
Some are under control but others not. There are fire fighters from Eastern Canada coming out west to help. Newfoundland just sent some.

They are being fueled by high sustained winds. All we can do is hope for rain without thunder or lighting strikes. When the grass and trees are that dry. One lighting strike can do a lot of damage.

I hope it goes well for everyone and they can stop it a lot quicker than last time.
I remember that fog. It was amazing how far south it got and how thick it was still by the time it got here.

I hope so too.
Yeah, so do I. It was terrible. The fires in Quebec and such sent heavy smoke to New York state and such.
