Here is Trump being ignorant about economics:
Experts agree that imposing tariffs results in a substantial portion of the tariffs being borne by consumers of the country that enacts the tariffs, through price increases. Trump says the experts are wrong unless they agree with him.
The other day Larry Summers declared that administration claims that foreigners will absorb the entire cost of tariffs are “ludicrous.” I’m not sure why this declaration was considered newsworthy; Larry was only echoing what every economic principles textbook and 95 percent of economists say (see the chart at the top of this post.)
Still, Larry’s statement did inspire some headlines, and got a response from Scott Bessent, the Treasury secretary. Did Bessent explain why he thinks the administration is right and almost the entire economics profession is wrong? No: he immediately accused Summers of being, in effect, a paid protestor: Bessent on Larry Summers saying consumers pay for tariffs: "Maybe he should let the world know who his client list is and why he's talking about things like this."
Trump and his minions already have a totalitarian mindset, in which there is no such thing as legitimate skepticism of the Leader’s proclamations. Anyone who expresses doubt, whether it’s Larry Summers or the Wall Street Journal editorial page, must be a corrupt globalist, or a woke radical left-wing Marxist, or maybe both.
Do people in the business world still think Bessent is a sensible guy who will exert a stabilizing influence on Trump policies?
There’s a lot more one could say about the Trumpist mindset and its implications. But for now, let me just note that it’s one more reason nobody should believe claims that there’s a serious intellectual agenda behind the administration’s economic policies. Serious agendas arise from hard thinking and debate; what we have here are people dedicated to the proposition that anything Trump says is right, and anyone who questions the perfection of his thought is an enemy with evil motives.
This is not a recipe for good policy.

Another blindingly stupid strawman?
Did I post that Germany was occupied?
No!
I posted that Germany had to pay reparations.
The following relates to what Trump is doing to the United States. Germany did NOT have to pay reparations. Hitler proved that by NOT paying. The fools who had been running Germany had paid because they were fools. Hitler was many things, but he could understand the obvious: Germany was not occupied, and the Allies could not force Germany to pay. The stupidity of the Weimar Republic caused the suffering and hyper-inflation that occurred before Hitler came to power.
After Hitler was dead, the new German government run by the Allies would deliberately make Germans suffer worse than the Weimar Republic had:

President Truman turned a deaf ear to the growing volume of protests. He explained to one U.S. Senator that though all Germans might not be guilty for the war, it would be too difficult to try to single out for better treatment those who had nothing to do with the Nazi regime and its crimes:
While we have no desire to be unduly cruel to Germany, I cannot feel any great sympathy for those who caused the death of so many human beings by starvation, disease and outright murder, in addition to all the regular destruction and death of war. Perhaps eventually a decent government can be established in Germany so that Germany can again take its place in the family of nations. I think that in the meantime no one should be called upon to pay Germany's misfortunes except Germany itself. Until the misfortunes of those whom Germany oppressed and tortured are obliviated, it does not seem right to divert our efforts to Germany itself.48
Truman deliberately made millions suffer by cutting their food supply. Trump can deliberately make millions suffer, too.
Trump Administration to food banks: “Let them eat nothing”

The Trump Administration cuts $1 billion from food banks in order to fund tax cuts for the 1% and corporations.
“Food banks across New England are scrambling after the Trump administration this month cut some $1 billion from programs that help them obtain food for distribution, increasing concerns about meeting demand when hunger is already soaring.
“For many of the region’s pantries, food given out with the support of federal assistance amounts to 10 to 30 percent of their total distributions. The unexpected cuts are likely to disrupt food availability for communities nationwide, local leaders said.” https://www.bostonglobe.com/2025/03/27/metro/trump-food-bank-hunger-fo

Photos! J.D. and Usha Vance Went to Greenland. It Did Not Appear to Go Well.
Turns out that the people of Greenland are not pleased that Trump still keeps going on about acquiring their homeland.

The vice president made the astute observation that it was “cold as shit” here and gave a speech that mostly railed against Denmark for not protecting Greenland and its vast natural resources “from a lot of very aggressive incursions from Russia, from China, and from other nations.” While he did not repeat Trump’s explicit military threats, Vance did encourage the Greenland independence movement from Denmark and also went off, naturally, about tariffs, claiming the U.S. could help the island territory avoid “economic exploitation” by Europe.

The 7.7 magnitude earthquake is the first major disaster to suffer the brunt of Donald Trump's USAID cuts.

This will be the first natural disaster to happen after President Donald Trump shut down America's international aid agency with potentially devastating consequences.
The impact in the aftermath of this earthquake is likely to be severe. Trump's decision to shut down the US Agency for International Development was already reported to have decimated US aid operations in Myanmar. Its global impact is hard to overstate. American aid had provided 40% of developmental aid worldwide.
Yesterday, Trump promised Myanmar aid for the earthquake. In reality, his administration has fired most of the people most experienced at organising that help and shut down the means to provide it.
The last of its staff were ironically only let go yesterday even as the president was making lofty promises to help.

Dr Peter Marks was seen as a guardrail against any future politicisation of the FDA’s approval of life-saving vaccines

l-resigns-over-rfk-jrs-misinformation-and-lies-dr-peter-marks
A senior health official in the US, who was seen as a guardrail against any future politicisation of the Food and Drug Administration’s approval of life-saving vaccines, has resigned abruptly, citing the health secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr’s “misinformation and lies”.
Dr Peter Marks served as the FDA’s top vaccine official. He had been lauded by Donald Trump during the US president’s first term for his role in Operation Warp Speed, the initiative that developed, manufactured and helped distribute the Covid-19 vaccines.
Multiple media outlets, including the Wall Street Journal and New York Times, citing people familiar with the matter, reported late on Friday that Marks had been given the choice to resign or be fired by a Health and Human Services (HHS) department official. He chose to resign. The FDA is a key federal agency within HHS.
In a resignation letter, referring to Kennedy, Marks wrote: “It has become clear that truth and transparency are not desired by the secretary, but rather he wishes subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies.”
Marks also issued a stark warning, according to media outlets who obtained the letter, saying: “Undermining confidence in well-established vaccines that have met the high standards for quality, safety and effectiveness that have been in place for decades at FDA is irresponsible, detrimental to public health and a clear danger to our nation’s health, safety and security.”
The departure follows reports that Kennedy has turned to a noted vaccine sceptic, David Geier, to lead the HHS in a study of potential links between vaccines and autism. Any links between autism and vaccines have long been debunked.
Kennedy has claimed he is not anti-vaccine, but for years he has led a movement to sow doubts about their safety and effectiveness. In 2021, a group then led by Kennedy called for the emergency approval of Covid-19 vaccines to be revoked, saying: “The current risks of serious adverse events or deaths outweigh the benefits.”
Studies later showed that claim was inaccurate. A study by the Commonwealth Fund found that Covid-19 vaccines saved 3.2 million American lives and prevented more than 18m hospitalisations through November 2022.
During his confirmation process, Kennedy ultimately secured the votes of almost all Republican senators, including Dr Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, by promising that he would not change the FDA’s system for approving vaccines.
But that system was overseen by Marks, who has been with the FDA since 2012 and oversaw the division’s approval process for vaccines, biotech and blood products.
The Wall Street Journal reported a statement on the resignation by an HHS official: “If Peter Marks does not want to get behind restoring science to its golden standard and promoting radical transparency, then he has no place at FDA under the strong leadership of secretary Kennedy.”
Marks’s departure comes a day after the Trump administration said it was laying off 10,000 employees at HHS. In comments about the move posted on YouTube, Kennedy suggested his office was facing opposition inside the department from “defiant bureaucrats” who had stopped his office from gaining access to “closely guarded databases that

See... This is your problem.
90% of the people unemployed in this country vote Democrat.
90% of the people being kept alive in this country on medicaid and social programs vote Democrat.
Democrats are anti-marriage, and a vast majority of young people who aren't married going well into their 30's and even their 40's vote Democrat.
You're just jealous that in a country that doesn't offer free healthcare that I cracked the code.

6ix, you did with Medicaid what Trump did with the IRS, you both lied. 6ix about his assets. Trump about his income.
Oh, so you think that YOU cracked the code here, huh?
Do you think I would be stupid enough to tell you or anybody else online in writing that I was on medicaid when there is an asset check for it?
"Hey Siri! What is the asset limit for Indiana's Healthy Indiana Plan, otherwise known as HIP?"Quote:
The Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) has no asset test for eligibility, meaning that your assets do not affect your ability to qualify for the program.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Eligibility:
HIP is for Hoosiers ages 19 to 64 who meet specific income levels, but there is no asset limit.
Income Limits:
Individuals with annual incomes up to $21,603.00 may qualify.
Couples with annual incomes up to $29,197.80 may qualify.
No Asset Test:
Unlike some other Medicaid programs, HIP does not have a limit on the amount of assets you can own to be eligible.
Benefits:
HIP provides comprehensive coverage, including vision, dental, non-emergency transportation, chiropractic services, and Medicaid Rehabilitation Option services.
"Thank you Siri. As always, you have been most helpful."
And I'll also add to this that there are currently zero work requirements for the plan and they don't even ask you to even apply for any jobs, let alone prove that you're looking. The ONLY two requirements are the age and income requirements. I am doing nothing illegal here, and I could give a fuck less what anybody in my real life thinks about the morals of the situation, let alone people I do not like online.
