To recap our story until now ....
In 2011 the USA (thru its NGOs and CIA) and Israel (thru its covert use of Arab language social media) fanned the flames of the "Arab Spring", and hijacked an anti- corruption movement to promote regime change across the Mideast and North Africa. The USA was covertly backing the Muslim Brotherhood.
So the government of Tunisia fell, only to be replaced by an equally authoritarian and corrupt government. Egypt also changed hands, to a Muslim Brotherhood government (I was vastly surprised when Obama supported it, not realizing it was a USA proxy). Then a "rebellion" in Libya was ginned up, and with (false, State Department-funded) NGO HRW "reports" of "Qaddafi gives his soldiers viagra for rape" and "Qaddafi is massacring his own people" we were galvanized into supporting the destruction of Libya.
Following the money and weapons, Saudi Arabia and Qatar were in a contest to see who could ship the most arms to the terrorists/ jihadists who were our proxies on the ground in Libya. The consulate AND NEARBY CIA ANNEX in Benghazi... which were destroyed by jihadists ... played an active role helping to transship arms from Libya for the next planned regime change in SYRIA.
Please note that "we" routinely use terrorist, extremist forces as our proxies on yhe ground.
*****
On to Syria, where, following our standard regime- change playbook of exploiting a (sometimes existing, sometimes fabricated, often both) social injustice and driving wedges deep into society, civil unrest was ignited in Syria, and then we rapidly brought in well-armed and funded proxies to exploit the situtation.
Saudi Arabia and Qatar were both instrumental in bringing weapons and money to their proxies on the ground, which included the head- chopping Al Qaeda and the even more horrific ISIS, where we were treated to the view of caged women being burned alive. At one point, ISIS established a capital city in Raqqa, and the most common currency there was the Saudi dinar.
Turkey also played a large role in the anti- Assad campaign, buying oil from the jihadists which they had hijacked from Syria, funding its own brand of Muslim Brotherhood/ Turkic forces in Syria's north, and providing tacit and active support for the various jihadists that were slowly being driven into Idlib, just south of Turkey.
We, the USA, had our own hand in Syria. At first the Pentagon funded, armed and trained "Syrian Democratic Forces" in Jordan. Most of them, once armed and trained, decamped to the jihadists. The CIA, less naively, funded and armed jihadists directly.
We -the USA and our minions in international organizations, provided political cover by constantly accusing Assad of mythical outrages ("Assad gased his own people"), even going so far as to have an OPCW rewrite the field investigators' report and giving anti-Assad people media space for our continuing narrative.
We also continuing to pretend that we were backing a "pro democracy" movement even tho its presence on the battlefield was vanishingly small.
Eventually, when the shine wore off that one, we found an acceptable anti-Assad proxy in the form of Kurds, and we- and they- have continued to occupy eastern Syria and its grain fields and oil wells ever since.
******
So, who's who in the zoo today?
Turkye and Qatar are still, and once again funding anti-Assad proxies, SOME OF WHICH ARE STILL EXTREMIST HEAD CHOPPING WAHHABISTS. Turkye by now has a legitimate interest in what's happening in Syria, since is housing appx 3-4 million Sunni refugees who were part of the original attempted jihadist takeover of Syria. In addition, the presence of a large Kurdish contingent on its southern border, which Erdogan considers a terrorist separatist force, is worrisome. Also, Erdogan STILL dreams of recreating an Ottoman empire, and wouldn't mind a bite of Syria.
Israel has an extreme interest in eliminating Assad, because Syria is the tra

yeah and policy of mini Bush and then Obama
thanks for the recap as it might make sense to people who did not pay attention or casually followed
both Russians and the USA used islamics as pawns, Saudi and Iran have their proxy war, nobody takes potential refugees other than Euro-idiots?
add the politcis of the British, the French and other Arab states and Iranians into the chaos
as for selling Freedom and Guns and Bombs?
maybe its Freedoms or 'Land of the Free' but only when it suits an agenda, there are foreign bases there Turks invade, the USA has something, Putin some long time back sends thousands of troops into Syria, Iran has its proxies, next the nation Iraq that USA almost broke into bits is talking about invading because it does not want to see ISIS-part-II
We are in the crazy LameDuck period
sure a militarist Zionist Judean of Israel would rather fight guys on camels than a somewhat sophisticated military
how much of this is real??? and not filmed by some blue screen computer effects or Green-Screen in some other part of the Arabian desert.
a sad fact of life is Yezidi will be facing genocide again and the Kurds will get fucked over again when they could have been a buffer in all of this chaos long ago
soon we will have all sorts of claims by Fox, CNN, the BBC, the Russians etc

Because HTS (a rebranded al Qaeda), aren't really terrorists, they're "terrorists".

The latest example of this great decline comes by way of the West’s sudden whitewashing of ISIS deputy and Al-Qaeda leader Al-Joulani. The mind-boggling CNN softball interview is one for the ages
The pre-scripted questions were designed merely as platform for the terrorist leader to pitch his new rebrand to a Western audience. It’s a classic setup and knock-down play: the shill-host pretends to “challenge” the terrorist leader only to feed him precisely the question that allows him to frame his PR facelift with the prepared answer.
Some of the unbelievable highlights include his intimating that he has put his ISIS past behind him, being that he was a young man and people “change” as they grow through those mercurial phases of life—we can all relate, can’t we?
Just gander at this guy’s CV for goodness’ sake: [picture of al-Joulani in front of the black flag]

Al-Qaeda, you know, the guys that supposedly killed thousands of Americans on 9/11, according to the official GWOT hagiography? The guy who as we speak maintains a ten million dollar bounty at the FBI?
Yes, that guy is being courted by CNN, pitched softballs and offered no challenge whatsoever to the lyrical rhapsodizing of his ISIS teenage angst phase. What can we say, the CIA has built their perfect ‘redeemed terrorist folk hero’ archetype.

Well, that's what happens when obsessed neocons get hold of our foreign policy. They're so anti-Russian, they'll make league with the devil itself...
Mujahideen in Afghanistan, originally
Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas
Israeli Zionists (who are also religion-obsessed terrorists)
Al Qaeda and its various re-brandings, and ISIS, in Libya and Syria
.... without thinking how this impacts real American or European ally security.
Thanks to a deluge of anti-Russian propaganda and utterly dishonest 'reporting', you have come to believe that Russia is a tyranny of ravening orcs who seek nothing more than to overrun Europe and eat tender Euro flesh.
In reality, remove missile bases from Russia's borders and guarantee a buffer zone of neutral states and you will have come a long way to solving tensions in Europe.
Same issue with anti-Iranian propaganda. Iran is not a terrorist state. Israel is. Stop trying to destroy Iran and it will stop having to defend itself.
You were so busy yammering over fictitious versions of Russia and Iran, you backed yourselves into a REAL trap.
Good luck with that.

THE LAST SECULAR GOVERNMENT IN THE MIDEAST HAS FALLEN.
My heart hurts for the people of Syria, especially women and minority people ... the Shia, Allawites, Christians, Druze, Yazidis, Kurds, and others... who enjoyed relative freedom under the SECULAR, ELECTED government of Syria, that WE WERE SO HOT TO DESTROY. Now they have to live under the yoke of an extremist religious idealogy.
We are sometimes such an evil people.
I sorrow for us, too.

Bashar al-Assad’s ‘forever’ rule is over
By Kareem Shaheen | December 8, 2024
https://newlinesmag.com/spotlight/dawn-in-damascus/
Assad’s supporters had a chant: “Qaedna lel abad [our leader forever], Bashar al-Assad.”
“Forever is over,” Syrians chanted over and over.
The end of forever. That was a beautiful capstone.
For now there really are no words. My wife is from Aleppo, and the past couple of days have felt like a dam built of emotional wards and walls has crashed in a violent cascade. I overhear a lot of her conversations with family back home and Syrians all over the world who are chomping at the bit to go home, to begin to reclaim what was lost. They are conversations that alternate between disbelief, euphoria and free-flowing tears.
“He’s gone! He’s gone! He’s gone!”
“Home! My house! He did so much to us! What has he done to us! Home! My God! We’re free!”
