The Chinese economy has been labelled a “time bomb” as the country faces a growing demographic crisis, an expert has said.
The “stark realities” of an aging population and soaring youth unemployment have left China’s citizens unimpressed and passively resistant, said Matthew Henderson, an associate fellow at the Council on Geostrategy.

(Bloomberg) -- The value of China’s stock market has never been this far behind that of the US, as the losses continue to pile up in a seemingly relentless equity rout.
The market capitalization of the US stock market is now $38 trillion greater than that of Hong Kong and China put together, a fresh record, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

China's Property Boom Goes Bust
A Hong Kong court on Monday ordered Evergrande Group to liquidate its assets, spelling the end to a two-year saga that made Evergrande the poster company for China's real estate crisis.

However, it now remains to be seen whether legal authorities in mainland China will stand by their Hong Kong counterpart's decision and "make good on foreign creditors." Magnus called this "unlikely."
