Thin, thinner, thinnest in Buffy

Is it just my imagination or do the girls in Buffy become thinner and thinner? And not just the existing cast, now the new slayer-in-waiting girl just tops it.

Sometimes I think Buffy is an advertisement for Bulimia! Who casts these girls? I'd like to see one normal-formed girl in this show, but I guess if there is one, it will get killed by the next available vampire...

I agree that the new SIT is extra thin but the girl that plays Rona doesn't seem bulemic at all.

They did have one normal sized girl... and Warren killed her. Tara was never unrealistic. I loved that they didn't have her act in any way insecure about her size and never made it an issue. Not that Amber Benson is "thick" by any stretch of the imagination... she's just not the typical hollywood anorexic.

I'm liking Rona too. She's cute in her overalls, and the whole smart-ass attitude is fun too. Nice to see a potential with the potential to be as much of a sass-master as Buffy always was in the beginning.

I've noticed that too. Although, strangely enough Xander seems to be getting…. well… Larger. Must be a balance thing.

even Emma Caulfield, who was at least moderatley proportioned, has seemed to shink in waist size this season.

Its too bad. Season One SMG was sooooo cute. but now she doesn't have enough fatty tissue in her face to cover her jaw bones.

Yeah, the whole thing has become seriously cringe-worthy. Buffy and Dawn are downright painful to look at nowadays. You keep expecting an elbow or a shoulder blade to rip through the skin.

But I'm not inclined to blame the people who cast the show. I think it's more of a Hollywood thing. I mean, these women have to plan for their careers outside of Buffy too, and looking like an Ehtiopian on a crash diet is a major part of career planning for Hollywood actresses.

I don't think the new slayers are quite that bad though. Hey, when Kennedy was sitting on the couch at the end of episode before last, she had tummy roll! Okay, the newest girl, yeah, skeleton with skin. But she actually looks like she's supposed to be skinny.

I agree though: it would be nice to see some realistically proportioned people who aren't comedy relief or villains.

Emma Caulfield seems to be getting skinnier in direct relation to her movie aspirations. It seems like she shrunk a lot over the last haitus, when she was presumably filming the evil tooth fairy movie.

Also, I remember reading an interview with Amber Benson at one point where she commented on how people always expect her to be heavy when they meet her in real life, and she's really not (the interviewer made a point about her being a size 6, or something in that range), she just looks bigger next to SMG, Allyson, Emma & Co.
