Does Russia claim Moldova's government was overthrown and replaced un-democratically? Check.
Does Russia feel threatened by Moldova because of NATO? Check.

In one sense it is true to say this all started in 2014; in another sense, it's true to say that something new kicked off in 2022, started by Russia. And the preceding 8 years were kind of a prelude. Both statements are true, just different ways of looking at the same thing. Just like most people agree WWII started in 1939, but sometimes people say "WWII was an extension of WWI". The statements are not contradictory.

I never saw this before tonight. Shows how easy it is to conquer if the inhabitants are patient/reasonable/peace-loving rather than placing Russians into the same category as cannibals/zombies (i.e. Reavers, the Firefly reference).

The hysterical thing is that for months Russia denied that these were Russian soldiers, claiming that they were locals who had got their uniforms and weapons from "shops". Eventually of course Putin admitted it, and handed out medals to the soldiers involved.
Sometimes I almost feel sorry for the Putin fanboys, who have to back up whatever ludicrous lies come out of the Kremlin.

For decades Ukrainians had been taught about Russia's fraternal love for them, so they were partly just stunned. It turns out Russia was not a loving brother, but a jealous, controlling and abusive partner.
