Mr. Trump has a long history of treating classified information with a sloppiness few other presidents have exhibited. And the former president’s cavalier treatment of the nation’s secrets was on display in the affidavit underlying the warrant for the Mar-a-Lago search. The affidavit, released in redacted form on Friday, described classified documents being found in multiple locations around the Florida residence, a private club where both members and their guests mingle with the former president and his coterie of aides.
Nothing in the documents released on Friday described the precise content of the classified documents or what risk their disclosure might carry for national security, but the court papers did outline the kinds of intelligence found in the secret material, including foreign surveillance collected under court orders, electronic eavesdropping on communications and information from human sources — spies.

Stephanie Grisham, who served as White House press secretary under Trump, also told the Post that documents her former boss sent for would often "just disappear."
Cohen said in his TikTok: "Let me be very clear, considering I know this 'Mandarin Mussolini' extremely well. Donald doesn't take boxes of material around the world for no reason at all. He took it for nefarious reasons."
"I stand firm when I say that Donald wants to use this in order to hold the country hostage," he later said. "That's his goal. His goal, because he knows his ass is in the grinder right now. He knows that he's cooked, that he's going to use this information, look for all we know, he's already given it away, but there's definitely more that's there."
Cohen posited that Trump would try to use the classified information to "ensure that he doesn't spend the rest of his natural life behind bars charged with treason."

The Justice Department filed a 36-page response late Tuesday night to former President Donald Trump's request for a federal judge to appoint a third party to sift through the records seized at his Florida residence. The government alleges that "obstructive conduct" occurred at Mar-a-Lago after Trump's legal team allegedly tried to conceal or remove certain records from investigators in the months leading up to the Aug. 8 search.

There are also 18 pages where the National Archive asks Trump to please return the papers. Then there are subpoenas to ask Trump to please testify why he hasn't returned the papers. After all this paperwork going back and forth, after Trump and his representatives do not testify, then the FBI forcefully takes the papers away from Trump. The FBI can't know if all the top secrets have been recovered because the Xerox machine can make copies. Trump refuses to testify about making copies. That is why he is still in trouble.
In the filing, federal prosecutors argued that Trump's request for a special master to review the records seized in the search "fails for multiple, independent reasons," and they accused the former president of leveling "wide-ranging meritless accusations" against the U.S. government in the motion he filed last week.
