Perhaps NATO should be disbanded if it can't function without us.

We've got our own invasion happening at our Southern border to worry about.

And until we do, nobody gives a shit about Russia or Ukraine.

When Putin is finished with Ukraine, he will be invading another NATO country, but not Germany nor France nor UK nor USA.

Germany, France and the UK would have done nothing, as all weak countries will do nothing, until they are attacked. The USA helped Ukraine and then those other countries decided to help. If the USA stops helping, all other countries stop because their whiny cowardly cheapskate citizens don't want their Prime Minister to get involved. All of NATO would just stand back and watch as Putin invades the next NATO country.

Exactly.

Thank you for proving my point.

Disband NATO.

I think Putin had great plan to conquer Europe, one country at a time. If Ukraine had a president much like Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani, the guy who immediately fled the country, Ukraine would have fallen two months ago and Putin would be moving troops to border of the next country on his hit list. But the USA had already sent enough ammo to stop Putin until more ammo arrived. So long as the USA and the other NATO countries don't run out ammo for Ukraine, Putin can't move to the next country on his secret hit list. Speculation is that Moldova is next for Putin.

If Putin’s plan was to keep NATO from encroaching any further towards Russia’s border, he fucked up big time. Finland went from about 17% wanting to join NATO to 61% after Putin invaded Ukraine. When Finland joins NATO in a few weeks, it will double NATO’s border with Russia. That’s just one way Putin fucked up. The rest are too numerous to list.

Ireland has called for a diplomatic response to Moscow after mocked-up images on Russian state television showed nuclear weapons destroying Ireland and the U.K.

During a segment on Russia's Channel One, anchor Dmitry Kiselyov described a nuclear attack as a graphic showed the islands of Ireland and Great Britain being wiped off the map.

"The island is so small that just one Sarmat missile is sufficient to sink it once and for all," said Kiselyov on Sunday, as he boasted about the nuclear-capable weapon Russia tested last month.

Kiselyov also said that a Poseidon nuclear underwater drone, an experimental Russian weapon, could "plunge the British Isles into the depths of the sea." He said that the 100-megaton warhead could cause a "gigantic tidal wave up to 500 meters (1,600 feet) high," which would also carry "extreme doses of radiation."

An Irish Foreign Affairs Department spokesperson told Newsweek in a statement that "there can be no justification for threatening use of nuclear weapons. Ireland has long argued that nuclear weapons offer no security, and their use would result in devastating humanitarian consequences."

The BBC's Moscow correspondent Steve Rosenberg said about the comments by Kiselyov, considered as one of the Kremlin's chief propagandists, "It's another attempt by the Kremlin to demonize the West in the eyes of the Russian public, to get Russians to believe the Kremlin narrative that their country is a besieged fortress surrounded by enemies."

The rhetoric on Russia's Channel One pushing the Kremlin's narrative about Vladimir Putin's full-scale invasion of Ukraine has repeatedly referred to Russia's nuclear capabilities.

Last week, Duma deputy Aleksey Zhuravlyov, chairman of the nationalist Rodina political party, told the Russian program 60 Minutes that the Sarmat missile should target the U.K. because of its support for Ukraine.

During the discussion, panelists discussed the prospect of European cities being hit by Russian missiles.

Putin and his cronies just can't keep from weakening themselves while strengthening the West. I for one greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Putty.

Russia Ambassador to U.S. Says NATO Not Taking Nuclear War Threat Seriously, but that is false:

U.S. Strategic Command chief Admiral Charles A. Richard said, "The nation and our allies have not faced a crisis like Russia's invasion of Ukraine in over 30 years. President Putin simultaneously invaded a sovereign nation while using thinly veiled nuclear threats to deter U.S. and NATO intervention."

The United States has made clear its concerns about Russia's arsenal of theater-range nuclear weapons, which commonly refers to weapons armed with low-yield, tactical warheads, of which the U.S. Intelligence Community assesses Russia possesses between 1,000-2,000, a figure that is projected to grow.

Russia's envoy to the United States has told Newsweek that leaders of the U.S.-led NATO military alliance do not grasp the true gravity of a potential nuclear conflict erupting, as a tense war of words among powers looms over the ongoing fighting in Ukraine.

As officials and other influential figures of the U.S. and allied nations accuse the Kremlin of summoning the specter of nuclear war over NATO's support for Ukraine against Russia's devastating invasion, Moscow's ambassador in Washington, Anatoly Antonov, disparaged what he called "a flurry of blatant misrepresentation of Russian officials' statements on our country's nuclear policy."

In fact, he said it was those in the Western bloc that have proven irresponsible in their handling of what has been described as one of the most dangerous moments since the Cuban Missile Crisis six decades ago.

"The current generation of NATO politicians clearly does not take the nuclear threat seriously," Antonov told Newsweek.

And while U.S. officials cast Russia as the aggressor in escalating nuclear tensions, Antonov called these accusations "baseless," and "part of a propaganda campaign launched against Russia in response to the steps taken to neutralize threats to our national security emanating from the Ukrainian territory."

He then outlined the "conditions under which the use of nuclear weapons is possible"
as per Russia's official doctrine, which he said states that such weapons of mass destruction "can be used in response to the use of WMD against Russia and its allies, or in the event of aggression against our country, when the very existence of the state is jeopardized."

Rhetoric touched upon the potential for nuclear escalation in the opening days of the conflict, especially after Putin announced on February 27 that his nuclear forces were being placed "on a special mode of combat duty."

Antonov said Western nations "misinterpreted the decision." But Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu "publicly explained that it was only about the work shifts of strategic forces commands which began to perform combat duties with reinforced personnel."

"This means that Russia has increased its vigilance against the backdrop of extremely confrontational statements by Western countries," Antonov said, "including NATO member states that possess nuclear weapons." Three possess nukes and none of the three threatened to nuke Russia, but Russia repeatedly threatened to nuke them over Russia's invasion of Ukraine, just to clarify.
