Russia Falls Below 85% Combat Effectiveness as Ukraine War Grinds On
Russian forces in and around Ukraine have degraded to as little as 80% effective, the Pentagon assessed on Friday, as they enter the seventh week of their unprovoked invasion of the former Soviet state.
The rate of Russian effectiveness after weeks of grinding, mismanaged and haphazard combat in Ukraine varies across its forces – whether its tank corps, missile stockpiles or attack aircraft wings – but overall they have lost at least 15%, if not more, of their assessed available combat power, a senior defense official told reporters Friday afternoon.
