Back from the dentist and these people are a biiiiiiig improvement over the other dentists I have dealt with. I have a temporary filling in the tooth that needs a root canal along with some medicine after they cleaned out the infection that was there. I didn't feel anything but the right side of nose, upper lip and little bit of my lower one is still frozen.
Hygienist also gave a couple of toothbrushes with a smaller head on them because I have a smaller mouth and some tips on using dental floss so it won't get stuck. I have to get some more dental floss as what I have is old. He couldn't give me anything because all they have is covered in mint and I am allergic to it.

When we were young, novacaine was kind of a "new thing" and while many denists used it, they charged extra. Our parents were so cheap they used to take us to dentist who did dentistry the old-fashioned way, without any numbing or gas. Having a tooth drilled without numbing really IS an exercise in pain, and it took me DECADES to get over my fear of dentists.
I haven't run into any bad dentists in quite a while. They all seem to have the right technique. Curiously, I haven't run into any dentists that use gas either, altho I've heard about it. Tht's one dental experience I've missed.
Glad you found a better dentist, BRENDA! A bad one can be an awful experience.

an you believe that Wed/Thurs/Fri are all predicted to be over 90, with Thursday tipping out at 97??? Sheesh!
The weather has been seasonably cool, good yardwork weather, except I've been stuck doing "indoor" work. Just about the time I get unburied from "indoor" work, it will be too hot to work outdoors.
Well, sometimes you just can't schedule things bc reality pops up. I take your advice SIX: Onward through the fog! I'm really glad hubby FINALLY bit the bullet (so to speak) and is seeing doctors for a couple of urgent problems, one being his sciatica/ piriformis syndrome that's suddenly gotten crippling. He's like a "typical guy" X10 when it comes to seeing doctors. Avoids them like the plague.

Jeez. I never had that experience. But I've only ever had two dentists in my life. The first one and his hygenist were fine, but then again I never had any problems with my teeth when I was young so it was really just a regular exam. The hygenist was pretty mean with that floss though, come to think of it.
My new dentist is great and the hygenist is an absolute dream. I won't even schedule an appointment unless it's a day that she's free. Even when I had to reschedule once and wait six more weeks.
She brings on the pain, but it's not her fault. I get a full root scaling and planing instead of a teeth cleaning at my appointments now, and when I had a periodontist do that when this problem first made itself evident, he charged me $1,500 for it. I don't mind the pain though because I know how important this is now and the feeling of having that done is like the feeling you get after a haircut but 100 times as good.
Glad to hear you like your new dentist. Who knows what my situation would be right now if I didn't luck into finding a great office near me.

I swear we're living on different planets. Thursday morning there was snow on the roofs. Frost on the roofs the last three mornings after that.
At least it's in the high 40's today with the 50's the next three days, even though it will be raining all three of them. Can't say I'm much of a fan of how much rain we've gotten already this early in spring. No leaks or anything yet, but I hope the rain settles down a bit going forward.

Maybe take a break and prioritize the to-do list? Easier said than done, I know. But I do regret working on my kitchen until July of last year and not getting much work done outside other than regular lawn maintenance. It was nice that we got the porch windows and door installed VERY late in the year, but there wasn't enough time to even paint the exterior door before it got too cold to do it, and my neighbors have had to look at the unsided back of my garage all winter long after I cannibalized it to side the new porch.
And none of my foundation work even started yet. I still have to dig out trenches around the house, scrub the foundation, patch anything that needs to be patched up to around 1 foot deep in the cinderblock walls the porch is on, tar the whole thing and let that cure, bury a lot of chicken wire every foot or so around the foundation to try to prevent the moles from tunneling next to the foundation if (more likely when) another one comes here, and then use self-leveling caulk on any concrete slabs that touch the house.
I think I'm also going to get a lot of concrete to mix up and pour inside all of the concrete blocks to fill them all up. I'll have to do that from inside and underneath the floor. That will be a monster job without assistance, but I hear that a lot of folk do that with the cinderblock walls for stability and to keep water out.

I hope it goes well for your husband. Men tend to die early in my family because we don't go and see doctors. The surviving males in my family (fortunately including my dad) are the ones who go regularly. My old man is doing great, but he's said that there were a couple of things they've taken care of already that he probably would have already died from if he didn't go.

I haven't run into any bad dentists in quite a while. They all seem to have the right technique. Curiously, I haven't run into any dentists that use gas either, altho I've heard about it. Tht's one dental experience I've missed.

A friend of mine sort of recommended them and I thought I should give them a shot.
I've heard of gas too but never have had it. Just the needles. They are. They totally are.

Well, you are an average sized adult not like me who stands at around 4'10". So this one dentist I went to was suppose to be good with children and I thought they could handle me. Boy, was I wrong. Yank, pull, twist on my poor neck. Never went back after that filling. Second one, I don't know why he felt the need to drive the needle so deep into my gum just for another filling.
First time I went to a dentist I was a child and they were okay with me and the one I saw through high school was okay. But as I said those other two left a bad taste in my mouth and other stuff, so this makes the 5th dentist I have seen in my life.
And hopefully I won't need to find another one.

Bit of a goof-off day here too. I called my far-distant sis to catch up with how things are going at her end. We text, but texting just isn't enough. A visit would be better, but that's a whole 6-8 hour plane ride away (depending on connecting flights) and something neither of us can manage at the moment.
Still, we had a nice chat. :-) Now I need to power thru the rest of the day sans nap. I'm going to sleep well tonight!

The mud I put up last night on the wall in the porch that joins the house didn't dry. It's so cold and humid right now I'm not surprised. I won't be staying up late and giving that a second coat tonight.
I managed the hardest part of the electric today and brought electric to my three new outlets in the front without needing to compromise the 4"x4" pillar. I did quite a bit more with the electric in the shed and the porch wall on the other side of it than I thought I would, so I didn't get it finished before I ran out of daylight. I'll be doing something else with the final outlet on that wall than I initially planned, but it will require me to go up into the attic again tomorrow and remove the existing wiring to it. Not a big deal, but nothing I want to do at 8PM when I've been working since 9:30AM on this today and was up mudding until 11PM last night.
2 extremely productive days behind me. I'll get more done tomorrow, but I probably won't kill myself. I have to do some inventory and see what I need to pick up from the hardware store to finish the job and start contemplating how I'm going to finish the walls of the room after I get the insulation in and fabricate the window sills and jambs. I'm still not sure if I want to do drywall or do something different in this room.
Off for some R&R now and watching some videos on how to install a few external outlets to code. I'm hoping that it's within code to have an internal switch at outlet level to turn them on and off from the inside since I could just add a switch next to the interior outlet in the double-wide boxes I used, but that might not be acceptable and in that case I'll just skip putting switches in.
