For me it's just routine (altho time- consuming) treatment. But hubby and daughter both have issues, hubby's being the more urgent and daughter's chasing after longstanding problems which I would LOVE to see resolved once and for all (altho I doubt it.) But one thing I know for sure: some kinds of problems don't go away unless you pursue them.

Going to the dentist, ugh! But I "test drove" a new dentist earlier this summer who is a whole lot closer and cheaper than our former dentist, and everyone has now has their exam and cleaning. Our former dentist I think was pushing unnecessary work (crowns, replacement fillings) and I never knew if what she was recommending was truly required or not. The new dentist did something extremely politic: he said something positive to each of us about our teeth.
It was a relief to hear "Your teeth are in great shape!" instead someone tsking worriedly while poking around.
I hope you have better luck next time at mahjong!

Well, this is a new dentist I am going to and they did say I needed some work done. So, I will get it done. I'm just nervous is all.

I know it doesn't mean much, but at least you gotta remember that everybody has problems they're dealing with, and some of them will never go away either.
Whether or not they actually ever get resolved for you guys, as long as you keep at it you will be able to put some issues behind you permanently and make the ever-present ones more manageable, leaving you with some time to relax and enjoy life and the time to tackle new problems when they pop up instead of letting things pile up until they seem insurmountable.

Except for the ceiling fan/light and some wall outlets with a switch on the wall that is unfinished and easily accessable from the shed (in really stupid places), there was no electric at all in the three season room before. Well... that's not true. There IS a back-porch light outside of the entry door to the kitchen that was original before the porch addition was made many years later, which is controlled by that (REALLY EXPENSIVE) 4-switch flapper box that I installed behind my fridge.
But now I can open the back porch door from the outside and immediately turn on the fan/ceiling with a switch box next to the door. There's room for another switch and I'm going to install a light on the outside that I can control from there too. And I've added two outlets underneath it along that wall. I've already prepped three more outlets along the front wall under the two large windows, but I have yet to tie them into the live circuit.
I'm also considering putting some external outlets on the front and back of the porch as well, since I don't have any on my house and when I have to use a power tool or my power washer outside I either have to leave the front door open or use an outlet from inside my garage to do it.
Today I believe I'm going to be working in the shed to drop the very high outlets down to the proper height and to see what the best way would be to bring in electric from the shed into the front side of the porch. I can't drop it down from the ceiling like I was able to do with the switches and the outlets on the back side (it would be too hard to explain without pictures, but it just can't be done).
But everything I've put in isn't just up to code, but it's up to Crook County IL code, which as far as I'm aware is the most strict in the nation. I even shelled out around $8 to buy some decking screws to affix the junction boxes to the studs since it's no longer in the national code to hammer nails in or use drywall screws to affix them (because they will eventually rust).
I shouldn't have to go back up into the attic for any more electric, which is nice. Although I did notice there was a junction box up there that was just a pass-through for (tight) wiring that isn't used for any outlet. Once I get the porch electric done, I may see if I can get any slack out of those wires and install a light in there with a pull cord on it since it would be nice to have some light up there I don't have to drag up with an extension cord like I have up there now just as some PTSD over-protection to deter any raccoons from trying to nest in there again even though I can't imagine any possible way they'd ever be able to get back inside now. Heck. I'll have plenty of conduit leftover... Maybe I'll pu

If there's one thing I can truly empathize with Brenda, it's Dental issues.
There's nothing I could tell you that will make you not nervous about the apointment, but I can just say from my own experience that it's really not all that bad once you go through with getting things done you need done. And I'm assuming that you get to keep all of your teeth, hopefully for a long time, so you've got a huge incentive.

A few rough nights of trying to eat with my new dentures before they really started healing and I don't even notice it anymore several years later.
Nothing they can do to you in that chair is going to hurt you save for possibly some immediate pain while getting the Novocaine shots, and those probably won't even bother you at all if you're agreeable to the gas first. And since I don't know what your issue is, it might not even be bad enough to warrant any of that.
You've been through a lot of BS in the past and come out the other end alive. Compared to living with that last landlord of yours, the Dentist office is going to be cake.

I understand all that and I have a handle on what is to be done. It's just the last couple of times I was at a dentist, they hurt me. One pulled my neck around so much that I was hurting and sore. The second one drove the needle so deep into my gum that I was sore for a week after the appointment. That's what's making me so twitchy.
I have to admit that I let my dental health slide while I was looking after my mum and now I am facing the consequences of that. A filling, root canal and possible extraction of two teeth. But it all has to be done. And I might need a side of antibotics after. Have to see what they say.
I know that too and that is what I keep reminding myself of and dentists have come a long way.
