Back from mah jong and no luck. It has dried out enough and warmed up enough for me to get out and sweep around the drain hole in my balcony which I did when I got in.

It's been a long time since I bent conduit. Not that I was ever a pro, but I'm glad to see I've still got it. I installed some junction boxes in my back porch for outlets yesterday, drilled the holes through the studs and set up the conduit to tie them all in together. I'm not yet sure exactly how I'm going to get the electric inside the room from that wall. My friend's dad was going to come over at some point and work on the entire project with me, but since I'm capable of doing most of this job on my own I don't want to burn up time he's here doing things that I can do since there's other things I'd rather he be doing with the credit he owes me.
It's pretty darn cold out today though, so I don't know if I'm going to work on the back side where I'm going to be dropping electric from the ceiling to put in a few switches by the door and another two outlets.
I haven't been up there since cleaning up the raccoon crap and sealing up the house roof from the porch roof to make sure they can never get inside of it again. It was 120 degrees up there last time. It's about 30 degrees right now.
I probably won't go up there today, but maybe I'll install the 3 boxes I need back there after seeing how far I'd have to build out the studs for the two by the door for adequate space for the door trim, and just tie them together with the pipe.
My friend's dad is going to tell me that what I've done is overkill. I'm sure he would have just wanted to use Romex or flex conduit if I waited for him to come by and do it. But when I do things, I do them the right way, and I already had a bundle of about a dozen 10ft lengths of conduit my step-dad gave me years ago out in my garage, as well as tons of connectors that I've had since the early-2000's when I lived at my grandma's house. All I needed to buy was some junction boxes and deck screws. I just found out yesterday that new Code rules state that you need to use exterior decking screws to affix junction boxes to joists and you can no attach them with nails or drywall screws because of rust. Makes sense... But boy are decking screws expensive in Bidenworld.
I'd do it the right way anyhow, but seeing as how my entire gutted porch is very clearly visible from the street with these huge windows we installed in the fall, I want everything to be perfectly up to code. When this job is finished, my porch will probably be the only electric in the house that actually IS up to code. Who the hell knows what Uncle Bob did behind those walls.
The real test of my skills is going to be using hard pipe to drop the electric from the ceiling fan down through the soffit and into the wall. Fortunately for me, I'm not required by code to make 3 or 4 bends in one continuous pipe and I can use couplers past bends to join them.
It's slow-going work, but that's how it usually is with me.

Weather here is cooling down from the near-100 weather of last Monday. By this coming Monday, they are predicting 1" of rain (RAIN??? In April??) and cooler weather in the 10-day, which will loosen up the soil and allow me to pull weeds, not just cut them down. So today I'm going to do some weed-cutting, hope to fill up the remaining two bins before trash day, and then get back to cleanup after the rain (minus one infusion day). I have the glimmerings of a landscape plan that I'm going to draw to scale to make sure it all fits. In my mind, the yard is much bigger than in reality, and when I look at the actual yard I have to scale back my ideas quite a bit!
