Mitch McConnell calls Biden's infrastructure law 'a godsend for Kentucky' as Trump attacks him for backing it
McConnell is touting the Biden infrastructure law as a "godsend" in his home state. He was one of 19 GOP senators who cast a vote for it in August. Trump is stepping up his attacks on McConnell, but the Kentucky Republican seems to be paying little mind.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is already touting the $550 billion infrastructure law in his home state of Kentucky, lauding the federal money it's poised to provide for repairing aging bridges and accelerating economic development in rural areas.
"It's a godsend for Kentucky," McConnell said on Monday, per CBS News affiliate WKYT. "We have a lot of infrastructure needs."

In all age groups, Texas' unvaccinated were 40 times more likely to die than fully vaccinated people. The study also found that the unvaccinated in all age groups were 45 times more likely to have a coronavirus infection than fully vaccinated people.
Republican leaders have sharpened attacks on public health strategies throughout the pandemic. Last month, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) banned any entity in the state from mandating vaccines for workers or customers.

Trump had the advantage of starting at 0 COVID-19 deaths per day, which rose to ~2600 deaths/day by the end of his term.
Biden had the disadvantage of starting at 2600 deaths/day and a full-blown pandemic already underway. That figure is now at 760 deaths/ day, which is a considerable drop especially given the delta variant that swept through the US during that time.
