Last year in August 2020, a large amount of ammonium nitrate stored in the capital city of Lebanon exploded, causing at least 218 deaths, 7,000 injuries. Before this Lebanon was once know to the US public as the place of the 1983 Beirut barracks bombings, before that it was ocne known as the Paris of the Middle East.

The two major religions in Lebanon are Christianity and Islam. I found these:

Because of the influx of Palestinian refugees whihc bolstered the Muslim presence. the government is structured as follows:

Half of Parliament seats are allocated to Christians, half to Muslims. The president is a Maronite Christian; the speaker of the Parliament is a Shi'a Muslim; and the prime minister is a Sunni Muslim. However, the most effective military force in Lebanon is Hezbollah, which is Shia (in general, Shia Muslims are more tolerant than Sunni. By contrast, Hamas, based in Gaza, is Sunni.)

Lebanon's problems, as far as I can tell, are corruption, incompetence, and surges of refugees from Syria that Lebanon has a hard time absorbing.

It's not a "civil war". Israel is attacking Lebanon. Again.

Last time Israel attacked, it tried a ground invasion. Hezbollah, a militia which is Lebanon's de facto army, beat the pants offa Israel which had to retreat with heavy losses.

This time, Israel is using missile strikes.

Israel's reason for invading now is that they claim Hezbollah launched a rocket into the Golan Heights (Israel occupied Syria) which killed kids on a soccer field.

Hezbollah denies responsibility.

As sometimes happens when air defenses are active, AD missiles sometimes miss their target and land and explode elsewhere. Kiev is INFAMOUS for claiming that their errant AD missiles are Russian strikes on civilian areas,

And I would bet this is the same thing. But I wouldn't put it past Israel to deliberately kill some Syrian kids on a soccer field and claim Hezbollah did it (false flag).

After all, when you've already killed 30,000+ civilians including 15,000 children, what's another half-dozen or so?

Fuck Israel.
