We'll know what the Deep State wants by how the media spins this.
If we're treated to countless stories of 'we need to do something! about those poor people, then it's obvious the Deep State still wants the US there. If it dies relatively quickly from the news - the way Hurricane Katrina for example was quickly yanked off the front-page center-stage, or Fukushima (still smouldering away and still leaking) - then the Deep State has moved on.
I've gotten out my popcorn to watch the denouement.

Well... so far I've seen articles from the Left that aren't positive about this, but nothing too serious yet.
I'd say the polling numbers are a pretty good indicator though. There's a lot of things working against Biden* right now in tandem, and even with the constant Leftist spin they've been having a hard time keeping his polling numbers artificially inflated.
That being said though, right after this incident his numbers are tanking even further. The RCP Averages of Job Approval only have a spread of 4.0 points today, compared to 5.5 a week ago and 20.3 on January 31st.

The left doesn't run the media. And for the most part people stampede the way the media directs them.
Do you remember "smoke 'em out!" "dead or alive!" and all the rhetoric that got us into Afghanistan with people all heated up and spoiling for a lynching? Then not months later we were 'done' despite ObL not having been captured, and we were stampeded in the opposite direction to Iraq. (Well, we weren't really done in Afghanistan, but were propagandized into thinking it was over.)
The US can be frictionlessly pivoted.

But it took planes crashing into buildings and killing thousands on American soil to get a temporary rally around a Republican administration to go to war.
That didn't last very long.
Though GWB didn't have to put up with a fraction of the shit that Trump did, most of his first term and all of his second term he was lambasted by the media. Then Obama comes in and they blow him for 8 years straight.
