That's why.
So your argument is that nobody wanted to make money while Trump was President and they waited until Biden* got elected*?

If either Trump or Biden are President, exactly the same price gouging would happen -- pay close attention 6ix -- unless price gouging was a) made illegal and b) that law was enforced. It just so happens that a) price gouging is NOT illegal and b) if it was illegal, I doubt the law would be enforced and people who were cheated would have to go to court, wait years, to get some kind of slow, rough approximation of justice.

You're arguing microeconomics are macroeconomics.
It's a fallacy.
We've got some heavy inflation going on because of the Biden* administration now.
Don't tell me to "pay attention". I read your words, but they're bullshit.

Quote:6ix, you have no fucking idea what micro or macro economics are. To quote myself: "Poor people cannot understand, for psychological reasons or just general stupidity, how markets actually work." Here is another idea that I have never seen a Trumptard understand: business owners in America don't legally owe you a job, or even a living wage. Why is that? Because it is perfectly legal to not expand employment. Perfectly legal to pay poorly, too. If you don't like it, try to get a city, or state, or Federal government to make poor pay illegal. Or make not hiring illegal. Or make closing factories and moving to China illegal.

The people over at ZH have been debating which way the economy was going to fail for years ... inflation, or deflation?
A number of years ago people were agape with wonder about the near zero interest rates: why weren't they leading to inflation? Then somebody FINALLY noticed that the $$ wasn't landing in the consumer's wallet, it was going straight to banks, and corporate lenders, and corporations, and being funneled directly into the stock market, corporate buy-backs, and so on - ie blowing stock-market bubbles. That's one example of how the economy's been unstable for YEARS. Which is to say, that Biden* didn't do this all on his own.

That's assuming that producers HAVE to sell to USA customers. They don't. The market for EVERYTHING ... USA wheat, USA corn, USA beef, USA timber, USA gas/oil, Chinese phones, Chinese pharma, Chinese textiles, S Korean TVs, S Korean refrigerators, Japanese cars ... the markets are INTERNATIONAL. If there are costumers "out there" who are willing to pay more USD for goods - including USA-produced goods - that's where the goods will wind up. It may well be that international competition in USD for goods will make certain products unavailable to USA market, but only at totally unaffordable prices. It all depends on whether foreign holders of USD want to dump USD in favor of real goods, and THAT depends on whether they see loss of dollar value and/or are do-dollarizing by dumping dollars,

Discuss the fact that there is LITTLE competition among "producers"
The role of banks in creating money.

I aced micro and macroeconomics in college. Two of the very few courses that I didn't walk away feeling were a complete waste of time and money.
Second, OTOH, can't utter a single sentence without his bias and hate for Trump and any opinions he has about anything are null and void.

Quote:I think the latest example to look at is the Great Depression. AFAIK it wasn't just a US problem, it was a global problem. So there ended up being no international market to keep prices up. It was an economic collapse that spread across the developed world.
I can't understand why anyone would imagine that the economy would wind up with deflation. "The people", they say "aren't getting the created money, and therefore they can't afford to buy anything, so prices will fall".
That's assuming that producers HAVE to sell to USA customers.
More recently, imo, The Great Recession could have become an even Greater Depression had many governments not engaged in QE.
Anyway, I think an inflationary US collapse depends on it being a limited US dollar collapse, while leaving the rest of the global economy untouched. But the global economy is highly integrated (I'd say with the exception of Russia, which might possibly be self-sufficient, which means it wouldn't either be affected by, or rescue, the global economy). The US may be the first, but will it be the only?
Anyway, this is far too complex for me to barely even manage an outline, let alone mentally create a detailed understanding - or predict a future!
So, I'll take your post at face value and work through the scenarios you outlined. It's all way too much for me to parse out.
