Yeah I think Joss is in a no win situation with trying to deny things right now. He can't deny that he ever did anything that vaguely upset anyone. Best he can do is say he never intended to hurt anyone's feelings and that if he got too intense on set that he's sorry and he'll work to do better. That won't be enough for the people out for blood. So, why say it?
I think he's hoping the whole thing will blow over. That's not going to work either.
Maybe the best move is to say "hey I clearly screwed up. I'm inviting everyone who's worked with me to send me a list of grievances so I can systematically go through them and learn from my mistakes. I never wanted to hurt anyone and I'm ashamed that I didn't realize what I was doing this whole time. I will work with anyone who will work with me to become a better person." Something like that might work. Then he'd need some people to take him up on the offer and he'd have to somehow convince them to publicly claim he's better now. Then he might have a career again. Or he could just retire with the millions I'm sure he's already made.

Michelle Tractenberg really did leave the door open with her 'VERY' inappropriate comments about Joss.
What'd he do ? If it wasn't criminal, why not just fess up?
We know all sorts of stuff that Weinstein and Louis CK did. What'd Joss do? If anything.

No , really. I want to know. Why are you scared of the truth, psycho?
Doesn't Joss deserve a chance to respond? Vague charges aren't really something anyone can defend against, are they?
I'll never ass rape your skanky hole, so my parts are safe, but thanks for the offer.

Going back, watching some of these eps, it really is a shame. Because damn, there was some epic TV going on at the time too. I have to wonder, what might been if Joss wasn't such a colossal dickhead. Was that what was needed to make a great show ?
I dare say it may have even been better, but we'll never know.

I'm also really interested in what "very inappropriate" thing Joss did. I mean there is a lot that could fit into that category. He could have told her to go on a diet or he could have assaulted her. I mean for a teenage girl there's a lot that crosses the line.

Yep, I agree. Is it Louis C.K., Harvey level stuff ? Was it propositions, suggestions, or demands ?
And I still can't get a straight answer if the 'Joss rule' of not being alone with Ms. Trachtenberg, applied to Joss only, or all males on the set. And was it in place before she came on board, or was it something which was done after an incident. I'd think that a production company would have safeguards in place , but then again, this was the late 90's, early '00s.
And why now ? What's the end game for Charisma and the rest of the gang ? Where do we go from here? - to quote a line from OMWF.

The Rise and Fall of Joss Whedon, and the Myth of the Hollywood Feminist Hero
“I hate ‘feminist.’ Is this a good time to bring that up?” Joss Whedon asked. He paused knowingly, waiting for the laughs he knew would come at the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer making such a statement. It was 2013, and Whedon was onstage at a fundraiser for Equality Now, a human rights organization dedicated to legal equality for women. Though Buffy had been off the air for more than a decade, its legacy still loomed large; Whedon was widely respected as a man with a predilection for making science fiction with strong women for protagonists. Whedon went on to outline why, precisely, he hated the term: “You can’t be born an ‘ist,’” he argued, therefore, “‘feminist’ includes the idea that believing men and women to be equal, believing all people to be people, is not a natural state, that we don’t emerge assuming that everybody in the human race is a human, that the idea of equality is just an idea that’s imposed on us.”

I like how the writer pretends that Dollhouse was some how glorifying the dolls being sent out as prostitutes. The whole show was about taking down the evil organization that did such things. They were very obviously not the heroes. The hero was the woman who fought through intense brainwashing to destroy her oppressors. The show had its issues with compelling storytelling, but the plot was still about a strong woman breaking free of a terrible situation.
I've read the Joss Whedon Wonder Woman script and this is mostly the same sort of cherry picking. Acknowledging a woman is beautiful is not anit-feminist. Look at some of the outfits Patty Jenkins put Wonder Woman in for 1984. The slit in her dress goes so far up she's basically wearing a bikini. Men are constantly shown hitting on her. It's much the same stuff but the movie is currently praised as empowering. However, if people want to tear it down they'll flip the script and claim it shows men are allowed to catcall women.
Another thing that I just remembered about the Charisma Carpenter pregnancy thing is that it was during Season 4 of Angel. Which means it's the season when Joss was involved in the final season of Buffy, starting and fighting for Firefly, and still helping out with Angel. Though from what I've read in the past Joss was not very involved with Angel that season due to the other shows. So, maybe there's a reason her agents couldn't get on the phone with him to talk about her pregnancy. Maybe talk to one of the producers or the network or any episode director or a writer or anyone else who could have gotten the word out. It also doesn't make it right for Joss to take it out on her, but it's easy to understand him being upset that he's working on so much and then has to throw out a bunch of scripts and rewrite. Lots of people lash out when they're stressed. If Joss apologized and regrets it that says a lot. If he didn't that says a lot too. I guess we'll have to wait for those details.

I didn't follow Dollhouse all that closely, but did ANY of the 'actives' get used as prostitutes? My take was that they were all sorts of different role playing parts, from secret agent, to corporate big wig and yeah, maybe 1 or 2 times, for entertainment. Sounds to me like the author didn't even watch the show, just read up about it and assumed from the title that it was some sort of high end prostitution program. cringe.
Good points about the timing and Joss's involvement with 3 shows. At the same time. Was this when he was also banging Eliza ? ( allegedly )
I can't say this excuses Joss, because we still don't have an accurate portrait of what really went on.
