Will Joe Biden's foreign policy team be warmongers — or genuine peacemakers?

Warmongers.

Why should Biden's* policies be any different than Hillary's or Obama's? He's controlled by the same people.

As I posted in another thread, Trump was trying to split Russia from China (maximum pressure on China, less on Russia). Biden* is going to try to split China from Russia by easing up on China and trying to welcome them back into the fold. That's my guess, anyway.

Whether China will be taken in by this gambit is anyone's guess. But my guess is that they'll use the situation to get maximum benefit from the USA without ever really splitting from Russia.

With no new wars, I was looking forward to Trump cutting the defense budget and bringing the troops home. Oops! The budget's bigger and troops aren't home.

US election 2020: Has Trump kept his promises on the military?

Military spending has steadily increased since President Trump took office in January 2017.
The reduction of troops was much greater under President Obama, as both large-scale deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan ended during his years in charge.

If such fun happens, it is the fault of Congress. More specifically, the GOP controlled Senate. The Constitution placed the control of the military budget in Congress, not the White House. And Declarations of Wars comes from Congress, not the White House. Congress can remove a President who acts as if he controls the budget and war declarations. Even Congress knows it, but doesn't act as if it knows anything. Check their website:

https://history.house.gov/Institution/Origins-Development/War-Powers/

“The Congress shall have Power . . . To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and make Rules conquering Captures on Land and Water;
“To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two Years;
“To provide and maintain a Navy;
“To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the land and naval Forces;
“To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;
“To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress”
—U.S. Constitution, Article I, section 8, clauses 11–16

Like many powers articulated in the U.S. Constitution, Congress’ authority to declare war was revolutionary in its design, and a clear break from the past when a handful of European monarchs controlled the continent’s affairs.

Take a look at the research about how bloodthirsty Americans are. Americans like killing civilians:

Example: In 1945, a Gallup poll immediately after the bombing found that 85% of Americans approved of using the new atomic weapon on Japanese cities. In 1991, according to a Detroit Free Press survey conducted in both Japan and the U.S., 63% of Americans said the atomic bomb attacks on Japan were a justified means of ending the war, while only 29% thought the action was unjustified.
www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/08/04/70-years-after-hiroshima-opin
ions-have-shifted-on-use-of-atomic-bomb
/

Example: 59.3% percent approved of killing 100,000 Iranian civilians to save 20,000 U.S. soldiers.
http://large.stanford.edu/courses/2019/ph241/mangiaracina2/

Example: “The most shocking finding of our study is that 60 percent of Americans would approve of killing 2 million Iranian civilians to prevent an invasion of Iran that might kill 20,000 U.S. soldiers.”
https://news.stanford.edu/2017/08/08/americans-weigh-nuclear-war/

I am not even going to talk about the millions of Vietnamese/Laotian/Cambodian civilians killed by America in a vain attempt to look tough. By the way, that war was lost and the Americans that I know who have some slight familiarity with that war still think to this day the war would have been won if only a few million more civilians were killed. These are not real clear thinking Americans. But they do vote and they want killers of civilians as their politicians, either Democrat or Republican.

As usual for 6ix, who is a goddamn idiot missing the point: “The most shocking finding of our study is that 60 percent of Americans would approve of killing 2 million Iranian civilians to prevent an invasion of Iran that might kill 20,000 U.S. soldiers.”

I let 6ix continue to be confused about why it is wrong to kill 2,000,000 people who don't deserve it and why it is also equally wrong to NOT kill 1 fat dumb fucker who does deserve it. Got to give an example:

I realize that Joe Biden just held a press conference where he basically dismissed the refusal of Trump and a lot of other Republicans to concede the presidential election to Biden as "embarrassing," laughing at SecState Pompeo who earlier today talked about a transition to a second Trump term, and said it will all be over and fine by Jan. 20. Maybe, but I am somebody who has taken seriously for a long time words from people like Michael Cohen and more recently Mary Trump who have said he simply will not go willingly and will continue to refuse to accept defeat. I have watched various commentators supporting him from time to time thinking, "Will they support him if he declares martial law?" Unfortunately, I think a lot of them will.

He certainly is laying the groundwork for making an attempt. The obvious such sign was yesterday's firing of SecDef Esper, reportedly because Esper made it clear in June he would not order US troops to move on peaceful civilian demonstraters in Washington. Rumor has it he is about to replace the FBI and CIA directors also. And the Undersec of DOD is also out. It certainly looks like he is trying to stock the top levels of the military and intelligence establishment with total toadies who will do his bidding. If he makes the move and invokes the Insurrection Act or simply declares a National Emergency, which, frankly, is in his legal power. Will these newly installed flunkies stand up to him? Who will?

I am seriously worried about this, and the more I see people like Mitch McConnell and Sean Hannity just spouting rank lies about the election, my concern grows. I hope I am wrong, but I am now afraid we may be facing a very serious showdown over this, and I see the refusal of certain foreign authoritarian leaders friendly to Trump, such as Putin, not accepting the result, as a sign that they would support him if he made such a move, and we know he really likes and admires those guys. This is a very bad situation.

Trump’s legal challenges won’t change election’s results. The president’s efforts to contest the results “are unlikely to move a single state from [Joe] Biden’s column,” and that challenges in states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin are “not enough to change the final outcome.” Trump campaign and its supporters have filed state and federal lawsuits, seeking to have ballots and entire county elections declared invalid, but have yet to provide evidence of widespread voter or election fraud. As MarketWatch reports, Trump and his backers have not won any rulings.

Here’s Why Donald Trump Will Never Give Up

What exactly are we witnessing here? Is this an attempted coup — a real effort by President Trump to cling to power despite the outcome of the election? Or is it a pathetic, doomed-to-fail tantrum by a petulant sore loser who will soon cave under pressure?

It’s neither. The real answer requires us to take seriously what so many of us have been saying all along: Donald Trump is nuts. To put it a little more conventionally, he’s such an extreme narcissist that he can’t believe he lost. He literally can’t believe he lost. So his brain makes up stories for him, and the only plausible story in the face of hard numbers is that his enemies cheated. So that’s what he believes. And he’ll believe it forever. There’s no more chance of changing his mind on this than there is of changing the mind of someone in an asylum who believes he’s Jesus Christ.

As usual, though, this leads us back to the real question: why is nearly the entire Republican Party humoring him on this? Since they aren’t collectively insane, the only answer is that they’re willing to sacrifice the public’s belief in democracy for short-term partisan gain. That isn’t nuts. It’s just despicable.

AFAIK recounts must be done where required or requested, according to state laws. Vote totals must be certified. There's a lot that has to happen before the voting is considered done.

The Biden administration faces major calls for reform and racial justice after a summer of protests decrying police brutality/systemic racism. Biden hasn't backed the defunding the police movement completely but is seeking to pass police reform legislation including a nationwide ban on chokeholds. If the GOP controlled Senate won't cooperate by passing laws, AND IT WON'T, Biden can do nothing. What BLM will do next is get angry at Biden, not realizing that it is the GOP that BLM should be angry with. Next step is for BLM to boycott Biden in 2024 because the GOP didn't pass legislation, which means BLM will defeat itself and help elect a Republican, maybe even Trump in 2024. And so the pendulum swings back to the GOP in 2024 or no later than 2028. It always swings back.

Philosopher Hannah Arendt once wrote about the banality of evil ...

Pentagon

For the defense chief post, the Washington Post has portrayed the banal face of Michele Flournoy as the pick to 'restore stability' to the Pentagon, an entirely false assertion. Recall that Fluornoy promotes unilateral global US military intervention, and advocated the destruction of Libya in 2011. By the military-industrial revolving door, Flournoy enabled many Corporate weaponry contracts amounting to tens of millions. Likewise Fluornoy is on the Booz-Hamilton board, where the swamp cannot get any deeper. As if this wretched example of an agent-provocateur for war and destruction were not bad enough, Biden is reportedly considering Lockheed-Martin banal kingpin Jeh Johnson for the DoD position, too.

State

From Libya to Syria, Yemen, Ukraine and beyond, the banality of evil is perhaps best personified by Susan Rice – apparently Biden’s premiere pick for Secretary. Rice was an abject failure at the United Nations, but all seems forgiven, probably at the behest of Biden’s donors. After her failure at the UN, Obama kicked Rice upstairs to be his National Security Advisor, a position that does not require Senate approval.
An obvious war hawk in the mold of the Democrat’s donor class, a Rice appointment could reinforce the liberal mantra that women can be just as good at interventionism as men, and ensure full re-establishment of the Neoliberal agenda in Washington. John Kerry has been flagged as a potential for State (again) too, but at age 77 and subsequent to the failure of the JCPOA Kerry is an unlikely pick.
Another potential pick among the banal Daughters of Darkness is Victoria Kagan-Nuland, architect of the 2014 debacle in Ukraine (among other things).

National Security Advisor

Banality is certainly the mark of the beast here, in the form of Tony Blinken. Well in with Michele Flournoy (above) Blinken typifies the type of banality the Deep State engages in to promote its evil, with Blinken as successful as any other Deep State actor. A major hawk on Russia and war hawk in general, Blinken is an apologist for Israel. Blinken is a war hawk on Afghanistan and Syria too, and Blinken was directly involved in CIA operation Timber Sycamore. Oh, the banality.
Another model of banality is Leon CIA Panetta who so far claims that cruising the Monterey peninsula is more fun that being in Washington. But we know that’s false and Panetta would be a logical pick. Besides being a hawk on everything, and laughing about the fact he has no idea how many wars Obama’s America was fighting – because he lost count – Panetta is simply another sycophant for evil like Hannah Arendt portrayed in her study of Adolf Eichmann.

CIA

Banal of the banal is of course Mike Morell. This incredibly vacuous excuse for a human being has been hate-mongering for years. Beside his blatant pandering support for another banal and brutal warmonger – Hillary Clinton – Mike Morell is one Neoliberal who still maintains that Saddam Hussein actively aided and abetted al Qaeda with regard to the 911 attacks.

So, just to continue this thought ...

As I posted elsewhere I'm really hoping the Democrats* win both US Senate seats in Georgia, because I want them to stop hiding behind a Republican Senate and show us what they're truly made of - just like they did the first 2 years under Obama. And I want it to be obvious that the first 2 years under Obama were no fluke.

But the m$m has been awfully quiet about those races. It may be that they're already predicting at least one republican win, perhaps 2. http://www.fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?tid=64070

In any case, I see a backstop being constructed, because after the completely unanticipated Trump win in 2016, no eventuality can be left to chance!

And that's the "recently" discovered SolarWinds hack, which - god forbid - can't be attributed to bad software and maybe even a bad (Microsoft) OS. Nope! The RUSSIANS!!! done doed it, whether they did or not! And some Democratic* Senators are already calling it an act of war. https://thehill.com/policy/cybersecurity/530784-lawmakers-ask-whether-
massive-hack-amounted-to-act-of-war

So, forget about any promises made!! Because ... RUSSIA!!!

The other thing I've noticed is the selection of sacrificial Cabinet members. Given a republican-controlled Senate (which I believe we'll have), just like the meaningless virtue-signalling legislation of the House, these proposed appointees were put forward to indicate Biden* really, really, REALLY wants to make good on his promises. Really! Truly! Not that he'll actually campaign for them or use the power of his bully-pulpit or anything. Nope, he'll quietly and meekly fold his hands.

If democrats* don't do any different, how are they any better?

And when Biden* fails to keep his promises - or even promote them - I'll be happy to laugh at his skinny saggy ass parading all over town in his New Clothes™.

Speaking of M$...

Fun Fact: Did you know that the reason Windows XP was supported far longer than any other Microsoft OS was because it was installed on the vast majority of ATM machines in the US and if they didn't constantly upgrade and patch it everyone's bank accounts could have been hacked?

XP was introduced in 2001 and was still alive and kicking after Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1 were released. Windows 10 came out only a year after XP was finally discontinued.

Earth’s rising fever hit or neared record hot temperature levels in 2020, global weather groups reported Thursday.

This is the agenda Democrats should pursue under Biden's leadership

Opinion by Bernie Sanders

The headlines dominating the news understandably deal with the outrageous behavior of President Donald Trump and the attempted coup he inspired at our nation's Capitol.
Yes, it was important for the House of Representatives to impeach Trump. Yes, the Senate must convict him. No president, now or in the future, can lead an insurrection against the United States government and get away with it.

But as enormously important as that is, we must not lose sight of the pain and anxiety of millions of working families all over this country, as they suffer through the worst public health and economic crises in the modern history of our country. In fact, many working families are facing more economic desperation today than any time since the Great Depression. As a result of the pandemic, tens of millions of our fellow citizens have lost their jobs and incomes. Hunger is at its highest level in decades, and 40 million could be on the brink of eviction when the federal moratorium expires at the end of January. While more than 24 million people in our country have tested positive for the Covid-19 virus, tens of millions of Americans are uninsured or under-insured.
Amid so much economic suffering and despair, when many Americans have lost faith in their government -- and when millions are prepared to accept lies about the outcome of the 2020 presidential election -- it is imperative that Democrats pass a bold and aggressive economic agenda within the first 100 days of Joe Biden's presidency. Now is not the time to think small. It is the time to think big and to restore faith among working families -- Black, White, Latino, Asian American and Native American -- that in a democratic society, government can respond to their needs.

Failure to adequately respond to the economic desperation in America today will undermine the Biden administration and likely lead Democrats to lose their thin majorities in the US House of Representatives and US Senate in 2022. Democrats suffered significant loses in 1994, two years after President Bill Clinton's victory -- and, in 2010, two years after President Barack Obama's victory.
We must not repeat those mistakes.

The danger we face would not be in going too big or spending too much but in going too small and leaving the needs of the American people behind. If Republicans would like to work with us, we should welcome them. But their support is not necessary. In 2010, Sen. Mitch McConnell was willing to sabotage the economy to advantage Republicans, doing everything he could to make Obama a "one-term president."
We cannot let him play the same games again.

The Senate's 60-vote threshold to pass major legislation has become an excuse for inaction. But let's be clear: We have the tools to overcome these procedural hurdles. As incoming Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, I will use a process known as budget reconciliation that will allow us to pass comprehensive legislation with only 51 votes.

This is not a radical idea.

When the Republicans controlled the Senate during the George W. Bush and Trump presidencies, they used reconciliation to pass trillions of dollars in tax breaks for the wealthiest people and most profitable corporations. They also used reconciliation to try and repeal the Affordable Care Act in 2017. Today, Democrats must use this same process to lift Americans out of poverty, increase wages and create good-paying jobs.

First, we must increase the direct payments passed by Congress in December from $600 to $2,000 for every working-class adult and their children. On this issue, Joe Biden, Donald Trump, incoming Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, several Republicans in the House and the Senate and undoubtedly millions of struggling Americans -- who wanted more stimulus in December --would agree.
But given the enormous crises facing the country, that is not enough. Through reconciliation, we must

He promised “no new fracking” ... Last week the administration also issued Secretarial Order No. 3395, which implemented a 60-day suspension of new oil and gas leasing and drilling permits for federal land and water. ... This week President Biden followed that action up with Executive Order on Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad. The biggest takeaway from this order was an indefinite “pause on new oil and natural gas leases on public lands” until a comprehensive review on the climate change impacts can be completed."

There's plenty of dissembling, hair-splitting, and deception on both sides.

The author starts out by talking about oil and gas drilling generically, but then laser-focuses on fracking.

But then Joe* has layers of good-sounding, well-publicized fluff, along with hidden and not-so-hidden realities that negate the PR.

Joe* can do zero about EXISTING leases in whatever form they take - whether it's conventional drilling or fracking, oil or gas. And considering there are thousands of existing, unexercised leases, not having new leases is moot. There are plenty of existing, unexercised leases for years to come, maybe even decades. So while Joe*'s campaign promises and executive orders sound promising, because they're focused on NEW leases, in reality, they're meaningless.

Then there's Joe*'s blunt statement, which clearly points to the real limitations of his campaign rhetoric:
Quote:

“Let me be clear, and I know this always comes up, we’re not going to ban fracking.”
And among the limitations on banning or even limiting fracking meaningfully, besides existing leases, is the fact that most drilling is on PRIVATE land. And Joe* can't touch them by Executive Order.

But even THEN, Joe* doesn't ban fracking on Federal land either, where he DOES have some power. He merely PAUSES it
Quote:

on new oil and natural gas leases on public lands” until a comprehensive review on the climate change impacts can be completed.

Joe* and oil and gas leases? A non-starter. Joe* and fracking? Joe* already wrote that off in terms of Executive Orders.

For fracking to be BANNED - everywhere - Congress would have to pass a law. Is Joe* going to propose it to Congress? Is he going to campaign for it? In other words, is Joe* the democrat* who's going to FINALLY address climate change? Well, he's already promised he's "not going to ban fracking".

Or then, is he merely Joe*, wearing his New Clothes™ all over town?

And when Biden* fails to keep his promises - or even promote them - I'll be happy to laugh at his skinny saggy ass parading all over town in his New Clothes™.

I don't care about embarrassment myself. I look at what politicians DO.

For example, your country is EXTREMELY stingy when it comes to letting people in. And yet, you want the US be the opposite of your country and open our doors to everyone and anyone, even people who entered illegally. Why the double standard? Why should the US not control the number and type of people allowed in, like your country does? That's one area where I agree with Trump.

I look at the US record on global warming. And frankly I see literally NO difference between democrats* and republicans in terms of RESULTS - ie CO2 and other global warming gas emissions. Sure, the democrats* are better at empty gestures, for example Obama signing onto the Global Climate Accord. But it's unenforceable until it's ratified by 2/3 of our Senate, and Obama never put it up for a vote or campaigned to change the politics about it. And Biden* won't either. And Biden*'s executive actions on, say, oil and gas drilling are as toothless as they are pointless, since they're too small and incomplete to change anything and will disappear with the next president, as all Executive Orders do. They're just more meaningless blather.

Then I look at the threat of nuclear war. The US's biggest adversary is Russia, and BOTH countries are actively developing new nuclear weapons and systems. That won't change any time soon. But what WILL change is how the US relates to Russia. The democrats are bound and determined to 'punish' Russia at all turns to try to cripple it economically, and at the very least to antagonize it continuously. Trump was a deeply welcome relief in that dynamic. Why do YOU want the US and Russia to be in a perpetual state of Cold War II, Magon's? Do YOU feel safer from nuclear threat with that going on?

Then I look at Clinton* and the democrats*- and how they set the stage to unleash the great meltdown, failed to punish the wrongdoers, failed to right the legal wrongs they created, and sold US manufacturing to China. At I see at least Trump TRIED to make an issue of it, by increasing tariffs.

So, I don't look at rhetoric, or gestures, or your embarrassment, as being at all important. I look at results. Which is why I post: And if democrats* don't do any different, how are they any better?

Maybe you can answer that. If democrats don't get results and they're wrong on Russia, wrong on immigration, wrong on trade, craven and inactive on global warming, and wrong on the constant presence of US troops around the globe, why do you prefer them?

Republicans Scramble for a Strategy to Oppose the COVID Relief Bill

How do you say no to something most people want?

Wednesday, Feb 24, 2021 5:40 PM

Congressional Republicans returned to Washington this week with a sense of alarm about a looming legislative predicament: Democrats' $1.9 trillion relief package, which Republicans chose not to collaborate with, is, if anything, only gaining popularity as it hurtles toward the finish line.

The legislation—which would, among other things, extend unemployment benefits through the summer, offer generous aid to state and local governments, provide more money for vaccine distribution, increase the federal minimum wage to $15 an hour, and send a round of $1,400 direct payments to most Americans—has consistently polled at wildly enthusiastic levels. A Politico/Morning Consult survey released Wednesday morning pinned support for the package at 76 percent, including 60 percent support among Republicans. A CBS/YouGov survey earlier this month showed 83 percent overall support. One of the worst polls for Democrats this month came from Quinnipiac University—and it still showed 68 percent support, including 37 percent of Republicans.

With the House expected to pass the bill on Friday and the Senate to follow in the coming weeks, Republicans have their work cut out for them if they want to change the public’s mind.

Biden Rescinds Trump Order Banning Chinese Involvement in the U.S. Power Grid
By IER

February 4, 2021

In President Biden’s executive order revoking the international permit for the Keystone XL pipeline, several climate and energy-focused executive orders by the Trump administration were also revoked. It suspended for 90 days Trump’s “Executive Order 13920 of May 1, 2020 (Securing the United States Bulk-Power System). The Trump order sought to ban, replace, and set new criteria on bulk-power system electric equipment coming from a foreign country or national that poses a national security threat. According to Biden’s executive order, the fate of the executive order and America’s bulk power system will be determined jointly by Biden’s Secretary of Energy and his Director of the Office of Management and Budget. It is up to these 2 political appointees to recommend whether a replacement order should be issued.

Trump’s Order

Trump’s order “prohibited any acquisition, importation, transfer, or installation of bulk power system electric equipment by any person or with respect to any property to which a foreign country or a national thereof has any interest, that poses an undue risk to the bulk power system, the security or resiliency of U.S. critical infrastructure or the U.S. economy, or U.S. national security or the security and safety of U.S. persons.” The Department of Energy was tasked with identifying existing bulk power system electric equipment that violated the order and “develop recommendations to identify, isolate, monitor, or replace this equipment as appropriate.”

Issued on December 17, 2020, Trump’s Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette issued a “prohibition order designed to reduce the risks that entities associated with the People’s Republic of China pose to the Nation’s Bulk Power System” to be effective on January 16, 2021. “The order prohibits utilities that supply critical defense facilities (CDF) from procuring from the People’s Republic of China, specific bulk power electric equipment that poses an undue risk to the bulk power system, the security or resilience of critical infrastructure, the economy, national security, or safety and security of Americans.”

ABOUT THAT CARAVAN ...

Quote:

The Biden administration has told the Department of Homeland Security not to speak freely about the growing border crisis, according to Breitbart, which spoke with a "senior-level law enforcement source" within DHS who spoke on condition of anonymity.

"The situation with media relations now is night and day compared to the last administration," said the official. "We have been advised not to speak on immigration issues at the border and to rely on DHS’s Office of Public Affairs and the White House Press Office to handle messaging."

The verbal order applies to senior law enforcement leaders within DHS and has no formal expiration date. It comes as the administration is struggling to manage the growing crisis caused by changes in border security and immigration policies leading to a spike in illegal crossings at the border.

As local communities along the border continue to grapple with the release of migrants into their communities, the administration is facing criticism even amongst their own ranks, Breitbart reported.

The report comes after senior members of the Biden administration - DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and Susan Rice - visited several cities in Texas to observe the border crisis first hand. Members of the press were not allowed to accompany the officials' visit to Border Patrol stations and a Health and Human Services detention facility for unaccompanied minors.

According to a source familiar with the DHS media restrictions, the prohibition is designed "to prevent the imagery of overcrowded facilities from circulating."

Meanwhile, a viral video tweeted on Sunday by Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) reveals: "The tip of the iceberg near Yuma, AZ as immigrants begin to flood into the US responding to magenta>@JoeBiden ’s open border, catch and release policy."

Meanwhile, Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents and the Yuma County Sheriff's Office broke up yet another human trafficking operation, where they found 18 migrants packed into a smuggling stash house - arresting the migrants and transporting them to the Yuma Station for processing, according to Breitbarti.

'Weekend At Biden's?' Handlers Shut Down Yet Another Q&A After Public Appearance

by Tyler Durden
Tuesday, Mar 09, 2021 - 15:28

For the third time in as many days (the previous two detailed here), President Biden's handlers abruptly panicked at the prospect of him answering a question from the press.

Today's debacle takes place in a DC hardware store as double-mask-wearing Biden stares blankly at the store owner during his polite introduction, then becomes distracted by people on an upper level of the store.

As the owner tries to address Biden again, Biden’s handlers suddenly become agitated and one is repeatedly heard saying, “come on press, let’s go, we’re gonna move out.” “Let’s go you guys, come on let’s go,” she repeats herself as one of the reporters tries to ask Biden about “the crisis at the border.”

Biden’s handlers aggressively prevent the press from asking POTUS any questions after his brief remarks at a D.C. hardware store pic.twitter.com/kTXFIe9ERM
— Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) March 9, 2021

What are the handlers so afraid of?

Biden's gaffes - or put more gently 'senior moments' are mounting and the world is starting to notice.

It has been 48 days since President Biden took office and he has yet to hold a formal press conference, and as Sara Carter reports, even the most liberal White House partisan reporters are growing restless.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said last week that Biden will hold a press conference “before the end of the month,” but a Washington Post op-ed is calling for Biden to hold a press conference as soon as possible.

“Last month would have been better, and this week would be better than next,” the WaPo editorial board wrote on Sunday.

“Avoiding news conferences must not become a regular habit for Mr. Biden,” the editorial board warned. “He is the president, and Americans have every right to expect that he will regularly submit himself to substantial questioning.”

Each of Biden’s 15 most recent predecessors – including former President Donald Trump – held a full news conference within their first 33 days in office.

.@Kevinliptakcnn notes that an analysis of the past 100 years shows President Biden’s 15 most recent predecessors all held a formal solo press conference within 33 days of taking office. Biden has not and it’s day 42.

Biden’s exchange of questions from reporters at the end of an event are no substitute for a formal press conference, WaPo media critic Erik Wemple said.

“These often perfunctory exchanges are no substitute for formal, solo news conferences at which reporters can ask follow-up questions,” Wemple said.

“Answers are supposed to be more than a couple of words long, and the president’s thoughts on a wide range of issues can be mined.”

We couldn't help but think of this...

If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny!

And it's not just "fair right conspiracy sites" that are questioning President Biden's health.

A new poll conducted by Rasmussen Report found that 50 percent of Americans question President Joe Biden's physical and mental fitness.

Maybe the GOP should start giving Biden* the same treatment that Trump got.

Too bad that never went anywhere. It would be hi-larious to see Biden* hoist on the DNC's petard.

Quote:

When asked "[how] confident are you that Joe Biden is physically and mentally up to the job of being President of the United States?" 50 percent said they were "not confident" while 48 percent said they were "confident" or "very confident."

According to Rasmussen, Biden's unwillingness

This is playing out exactly as I said it would. They'll get Biden to come out on a balcony and give people the "Papal wave" but won't let him talk face-to-face with... anyone.

How long do they think they can keep this going? How many drugs are they going to have to pump into Biden* to prep him for a normal Q&A, just so he can pay attention to the voices whispering in his earpiece?
