Russian trolls are working overtime to claim that this act of terrorism is somehow not Trump's fault.

Liars lie. Almost as much as Trump himself.

He is DIRECTLY responsible, more than any other person on earth. Trump IS terrorism personified.

I mean, if you're going to blame Trump for the DC riot (and the few nutbags that attended), then blame Pelosi for all of the riots, arson, looting, and violence before then. In fact, let's blame Pelosi for REAVERBOT.

Goose sauce= gander sauce.

Pelosi didn't falsely say that Trump won the election. Trump been beating the drum #StopTheSteal for weeks. Then it all came down to stopping the count of ballots in Congress for the Electoral College. Trump told his people to be there. He told them that V.P. Mike Pence could Stop the Steal. When Pence did not, Trump tweeted this just a minute before the Capitol Building riot started:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!
1:24 PM · Jan 6, 2021·Twitter for iPhone
https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1346900434540240897

Twitter marked that as: This claim of election fraud is disputed, and this Tweet can’t be replied to, Retweeted, or liked due to a risk of violence

Trump was telling the Capitol Building rioters to do what "Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution". Guess what happened next, Signym? It was on TV. The rioters stopped the counting of votes, which Mike Pence had refused to do for Trump.

Pelosi fostered the idea that all of the rioting, looting, arson, and mayhem was all about George Floyd ... wearing kente cloth and kneeling, for god'ssake, in an act of nauseatingly hypocritical political theater ... when in reality the riots were all about Trump. Because SHE and her party endlessly pushed the narrative that Trump was Putin's puppet, and when THAT didn't shake Trump's base, made up a bunch of other lies about Trump. Pelosi was a very active, and very public, member of the "depose the Trump administration by crossing any ethical boundary" gang and she tried EVERYTHING to make that happen.

Didn't you notice how quickly the riots died down after the election? BLM was coordinating with the DNC.

So, WAS THIS TRUMP'S FUKT?

My interpretation: Trump wanted a big rally, a noisy but PEACEFUL one, because he is planning another run for President in 2024. This was all about keeping his base together.

But it got out of hand, like sometimes happens after soccer matches when team fans go beyong cheering and waving flags. And the DC police, for whatever reason, were not prepared for a protest turning intrusive, so out of the 50,000 (some say) protesters, those on the nutbag end of the spectrum invaded the Capitol building.

What was the level of fighting? Were police injured during the fracas? Anything torched? Or did most people disperse and leave the building when the police showed up?

Not sure how it ended.

But Pelosi, bless her heart, is making a lot more out of it than it really was, calling it an "insurrection" (somehow, the "mostly peaceful" riots across over 150 cities in the USA and billions of dollars of damage didn't qualify) and blaming it all on Trump.

What a douche.

*****

So, yanno, charge those who broke the law with whatever Federal law they broke (bc this happened on Federal property ... Trespass? Stealing a doorknob?) and punish them at the same level as the BML/Antifa rioters for similar crimes.

What's the big deal? Seems simple to me.

Don't turn this into YET MORE politicking and try to start political purges, or use it as an excuse to censor social media, because if the Dems do they'll piss off even more people.

I think I'm a pretty good bellweather. Up until now, I was somewhere between being amused and annoyed at the Dems and the RNC and the liberaloid M$M/ corporate social media, but even I'm getting pissed off, and if I'm getting pissed off I'll bet a lot of other formerly non-partisan/ apolitical people are, too.

Democrats Ready Impeachment Charge Against Trump for Inciting Capitol Mob
Speaker Nancy Pelosi threatened decisive action against the president for his role in the insurrection against Congress if he refused to resign.
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/08/us/politics/democrats-trump-impeach
ment.html

At the White House, Mr. Trump struck a defiant tone, insisting that he would remain a potent force in American politics as aides and allies abandoned him and his post-presidential prospects turned increasingly bleak. Behind closed doors, he made clear that he would not resign and expressed regret about releasing a video on Thursday committing to a peaceful transition of power and condemning the violence at the Capitol that he had egged on a day before.

He said on Twitter on Friday morning that he would not attend President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr.’s inauguration, the first incumbent in 150 years to skip his successor’s swearing-in. Hours later, Twitter “permanently suspended” his beloved account, which had more than 88 million followers, “due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”

The correct response is to shoot them all.

MAGA internet turns on 'Coward' Trump

The president acknowledged his defeat and urged for political reconciliation. His online faithful didn’t take it well.

After years of fidelity, Donald Trump's most ardent online fans have finally turned on him.

All it took was for the president to acknowledge the reality of his loss a little over a day after they, the MAGA faithful, stormed the Capitol in a violent attempt to stop the certification of President-elect Joe Biden’s win.

“People were willing to die for this man and he just threw them all under the bus. That’s the only thing that’s shameful about the events of the past 36 hours,” Nick Fuentes, the host of the America First podcast and the unofficial leader of the white nationalist Groyper Army, angrily tweeted, shortly after Trump released a video Thursday night in which he conceded that Biden would be the next president and called for political reconciliation.

Cassandra Fairbanks, a prominent MAGA activist, tweeted: “[He] tells angry people to march to the capitol [and then] proceeds to throw his supporters under the bus.”

— Cassandra Fairbanks (@CassandraRules) January 8, 2021

Jacob Wohl, the political dirty trickster known for failed plots to incriminate Trump critics, reposted her Tweet on his Parler page.

And when far-right stunt journalist and failed congressional candidate Laura Loomer posted Trump’s concession video on Parler — “It’s over,” Loomer bemoaned, “Life is about to become very hard for conservatives in America” — the people in her replies were aghast that she acknowledged Trump’s own words. “He DID NOT CONCEDE! ITS HIS NEW ADMINISTRATION that will be coming in,” one respondent wrote, a sentiment repeated ad nauseam down her feed.

The despondency among the MAGA faithful online represented perhaps the sharpest break the community has ever made with a president they’ve exalted. But it also prompted a familiar brand of skepticism that has marked the past four years: Was Trump merely trying to placate his establishment handlers? Or did he truly betray the MAGA movement, days after several of his followers died while following his instructions to storm the Capitol?

In the past, Trump had been able to keep his online devotees close by swinging back into their good graces, normally with a pot-stirring tweet or the announcement of a controversial right-wing policy. But just hours after the president released his concession video, many expressed shock that he may have closed the book on them forever.

QAnon conspiracy theorists, praying for years that Trump would flush Satan-worshipping pedophile elites out of Washington, tore apart any scrap of data from the video to prove that he was playing one final trick. They subjected the time stamps to numerology, thinking that there was a secret message encoded.

“In no way did Trump say he conceded. He said: transitioning to a new Admin. As in, he gonna clear this one out and bring a new one,” tweeted We The Inevitable, a conspiracy account, getting more than 3,000 retweets within the hour. The account’s followers agreed that this was surely a sign that he was getting rid of Vice President Mike Pence — now cast as a MAGA traitor after participating in the certification of Biden’s win — and that on Jan. 20, retired Gen. Michael Flynn, now a full-fledged QAnon patriot, would replace him in Trump’s second term.

Looting Is Not Akin to Overthrowing the Government

This is probably pointless, but I am already sick to death of right wingers pretending that liberals are hypocrites for denouncing Wednesday’s violence at the same time that some of them excused the violence during the BLM protests over the summer.

If you were one of those liberals who looked the other way at the summer violence, then shame on you. Ransackings and beatings are pretty obviously things that should be condemned, regardless of whether they come from cops, looters, or protesters.

But it was unplanned, unled, and commonplace. It bears no comparison to this week’s events. This week’s rioters were acting at the behest of the president of the United States, who wanted them to overturn the results of a legal election and keep him in power. And it was defended not by miscellaneous bloggers and activists, but by members of Congress who thought it was a great idea to back the president in his attempt to keep power via violence.

It is sophistry of the first order to pretend that these two things have the slightest bit in common. The former is unfortunate but has no long-term impact at all. The latter is a direct assault on the workings of democracy by the leader of that democracy. Anyone who can’t tell them apart is either a cretin, a demagogue, or an insurrectionary. Take your pick.

For two months we have been debating how much a coup attempt should matter when it’s a coup so dumb it has no chance of success. What we should have realized is that as we got closer to the actual end, our desperate president—a man who has faced no consequences for anything at any other time in his life and is uniquely psychologically underprepared for what is happening right now—would move from stupid lawyers to stupid thugs in order to get what he wants. Which is how a coup happened this week.

When Trump directed his mob to storm the Capitol on January 6, Aymann Ismail was there reporting on the rally. He went inside with the mob. As Ismail wrote:

The people I managed to speak to didn’t seem to understand the gravity of what they had done. Inside a building they had broken into, they described themselves as “peaceful” to me. I talked to a kid from Florida, who must have been no more than 17 or 18. He told me, “This is nothing compared to what antifa does.” I said, “Look, they’re breaking the glass.” He answered, “Yeah, but at least they’re not destroying the things.” I showed him pictures of things destroyed. It didn’t register. On the way up, there was a woman holding a sign saying, “If we were leftists, we would be rioting.”

These sentiments are echoed in interviews Trip Gabriel of the New York Times conducted with Trump supporters this week. The people he featured really do believe Trump won the election, and though they have the good sense to tell a New York Times reporter that they don’t condone violence (an inversion of the rioters who denyed that it’s violence while in the act of committing it), they think that the rioters had a point. That’s the inevitable conclusion of the theories that have been pumped into their veins—they are the victims, they are in the right, they are the ones that are oppressed, even when they are the ones subverting the will of the people.

Trump rioters could face long jail terms because of his executive order to punish BLM

Condemning the violent rioters who stormed the Capitol on Wednesday, acting attorney general Jeffrey Rosen in a statement assured that those responsible for the attack would "face the full consequences of their actions under the law."

The protesters are liable to be punished with up to 10 years in prison for “injury of federal property," under the executive order signed by President Donald Trump during the Black Lives Matter anti-racism protests in July 2020.

"I just had the privilege of signing a very strong Executive Order protecting American Monuments, Memorials, and Statues - and combatting recent Criminal Violence," Mr Trump wrote on Twitter on 26 June, after people took to the streets in the wake of George Floyd’s murder. "Long prison terms for these lawless acts against our Great Country!"

Mr Rosen, in the statement, did not mention a specific punishment or refer to the executive order.

"Our criminal prosecutors have been working throughout the night with special agents and investigators from the US Capitol Police, FBI, ATF, Metropolitan Police Department and the public to gather the evidence, identify perpetrators and charge federal crimes where warranted," he said.

Death toll rises to 6:

Capitol cop, 51, 'dies by suicide' three days after MAGA riots left another officer dead
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9131647/Capitol-cop-51-dies-s
uicide-three-days-MAGA-riots-left-officer-dead.html

A US Capitol Police officer has reportedly died by suicide three days after the force was thrown into chaos when Donald Trump's supporters stormed Congress.

Officer Howard Liebengood, 51, died while off-duty on Saturday, the USCP announced in a statement.

Liebengood had been with the department since April 2005 and was assigned to the Senate Division, the statement said.

Unconfirmed social media reports claimed that Liebengood, the son of former Sergeant at Arms Howard S Liebengood, took his own life.

Liebengood is the second Capitol Police officer to die in the days after Trump supporters stormed the building in a bid to block the certification of Joe Biden's election victory.

The other officer, Brian Sicknick, died on Thursday after reportedly having been hit over the head by a fire extinguisher during the riots.

It goes deep

As more and more detail emerges about the events in the nation's capital Wednesday, it becomes clearer that this was a planned revolt and that it was organized within the Republican establishment. So much so that the Republican Association of Attorneys General (RAGA)—the chief Republican law enforcement officers for their states—used its dark money group to help organize the mob. The Rule of Law Defense Fund (RLDF), a "nonprofit" set up by the RAGA, appears in a list of groups "Participating in the March to Save America" along with Stop the Steal, Turning Point Action, Tea Party Patriots, and others.

The RLDF sent out a robocall to activists saying: "The march to save America is tomorrow in Washington D.C. at the Ellipse in President's Park between E St. and Constitution Avenue on the south side of the White House, with doors opening at 7:00 a.m." So they're making sure everyone knows where to go. It gets worse. "At 1:00 p.m., we will march to the Capitol building and call on congress to stop the steal. We are hoping patriots like you will join us to continue to fight to protect the integrity of our elections." The call gives a web address, MarchtoSaveAmerica.com, and concludes: "This call is paid for and authorized by the Rule of Law Defense Fund." Again, this is coming from state attorneys general, the people elected to uphold and enforce the rule of law.

My predictions about the election were sound. I had no idea that the Establishment had as much control as it evidently does.

Donald Trump received enough votes to soundly win any Presidential election prior to 2020 in 2020.

The deception is staggering, and elections are moot.

One thought I keep returning to: if there were a functioning White House we’d be seeing regular press conferences updating the public on on-going arrests, health status of the injured, progress of the investigation. As far as I can tell there hasn’t been a single one. Normally you might expect such information to be channeled through press conferences at the White House. But, not to put too fine a point on it, it’s not clear or perhaps too clear which side the White House is on. America has a headless government.

After riot, major corporations suspend donations to the Republican Attorneys General Association

The violent riot at the United States Capitol last week did not magically appear. First, millions of people had to be whipped into a frenzy over bogus charges of voter fraud. Then, a critical mass of them had to be directed to the Capitol building at the same time.

The Republican Attorneys General Association (RAGA) was involved in both activities. First, both the organization itself and the majority of its members pushed baseless allegations of voter fraud. Then, RAGA's self-described "policy arm," the Rule of Law Defense Fund (RLDF), sent a robo-call driving people to participate in the "March to Save America."

In response to inquiries from Popular Information, three major corporate donors — Facebook, Lyft, and DoorDash — are suspending their contributions to RAGA. The University of Phoenix, which donated over $50,000 to RAGA in 2020, is demanding its money back. And numerous other companies tell Popular Information that they are reevaluating their support for the organization.

The robo-call, first reported by Documented, urged "patriots" to congregate at the White House and then "march to Congress" to "stop the steal."

I’m calling for the Rule of Law Defense Fund with an important message. The march to save America is tomorrow in Washington D.C. at the Ellipse in President’s Park between E St. and Constitution Avenue on the south side of the White House, with doors opening at 7:00 a.m. At 1:00 p.m., we will march to the Capitol building and call on Congress to stop the steal. We are hoping patriots like you will join us to continue to fight to protect the integrity of our elections. For more information, visit MarchtoSaveAmerica.com. This call is paid for and authorized by the Rule of Law Defense Fund.

On the March to Save America website, which is no longer online, the Rule of Law Defense Fund was listed alongside "Stop the Steal" and "Wildprotest.com" as a participating organization.

Oh, crap! The money! They're losing the money! Time to deny any connection to the violence they fully supported!

House Democrats Briefed On 3 Terrifying Plots To Overthrow Government
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/democrats-briefed-plot-overthrow-govern
ment_n_5ffd29a4c5b691806c4bf199

Capitol Police briefed Democrats on Monday night about three more potentially gruesome demonstrations planned in the coming days, with one plot to encircle the U.S. Capitol and assassinate Democrats and some Republicans.

On a private call Monday night, new leaders of the Capitol Police told House Democrats they were closely monitoring three separate plans that could pose serious threats to members of Congress as Washington prepares for Democrat Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration on Jan. 20.

The first is a demonstration billed as the “largest armed protest ever to take place on American soil.”

Another is a protest in honor of Ashli Babbitt, the woman killed while trying to climb into the Speaker’s Lobby during Wednesday’s pro-Trump siege of the Capitol.

And another demonstration, which three members said was by far the most concerning plot, would involve insurrectionists forming a perimeter around the Capitol, the White House and the Supreme Court, and then blocking Democrats from entering the Capitol -perhaps even killing them- so that Republicans could take control of the government.

The members of Congress whom HuffPost spoke to Monday night were extremely concerned by the call.

Democrats were told that the Capitol Police and the National Guard were preparing for potentially tens of thousands of armed protesters coming to Washington and were establishing rules of engagement for warfare. In general, the military and police don’t plan to shoot anyone until one of the rioters fires, but there could be exceptions.

One topic of discussion was the need to put every member of Congress through a metal detector before the inauguration. A member on the call told HuffPost that there was an “eyes-wide-open realization” that Capitol Police needed to take precautions against “all these members who were in league with the insurrectionists who love to carry their guns.”

“You can’t just let them bypass security and walk right up to [Joe] Biden and [Kamala] Harris at inauguration,” this lawmaker told HuffPost.

Another area of concern was the Trump administration’s involvement in tamping down an insurrection. “I don’t think anyone has confidence that the folks at the Pentagon, that may or may not even be needed for some of this, or the Department of Homeland Security, where we don’t even know who’s in charge, are going to be cooperative,” one member told HuffPost.

So 2 big red flags (at least):

1 Trump bailing on inaugural. I don’t see that as a diss - he’s saving his ass. He knows his magats are planning something huge. “Careful what you wish for.” I bet he’s loving the idea of it getting *planed* or attacked with the living presidents there and now - bonus - Pence, the “traitor” will also be there. Bloody coup?

2. Trump is being cut off from almost everything. No twitter, no PGA tourny, etc. He has almost nothing left so nothing left to lose. He’s not going quietly.

3. Okay, 3 things: why the fck did he go to the Alamo?? There’s no reason. Unless it’s some kind of symbolic/ Q trigger bs thing. “You will know it’s on if I go to the Alamo - be ready and I love you.” That’s such a weird place for an appearance now. Flag!

This shit right here is why you never leave your house with political slogans on your shirt or bumper stickers on your car.

Drive a nondescript car, wear blacks, whites, greys, earth tone clothes without any words on them and you're basically a ghost in public, hiding in plain sight.

If you haven't figured that out by the time you're in your early 20's, well I guess you deserve to have your picture plastered up on the internet forever by the dailykos.

I wonder if dude still thinks that shirt is "edgy".

Where I am from, the Christians tout both religion and Trump/Jesus on clothes and cars.

Before self-proclaimed members of the far-right group the Proud Boys marched toward the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday, they stopped to kneel in the street and prayed in the name of Jesus.

The group, whose participants have espoused misogynistic and anti-immigrant views, prayed for God to bring “reformation and revival.” They gave thanks for “the wonderful nation we’ve all been blessed to be in.” They asked God for the restoration of their “value systems,” and for the “courage and strength to both represent you and represent our culture well.” And they invoked the divine protection for what was to come.

Then they rose. Their leader declared into a bullhorn that the media must “get the hell out of my way.” And then they moved toward the Capitol.

The presence of Christian rituals, symbols and language was unmistakable on Wednesday in Washington. There was a mock campaign banner, “Jesus 2020,” in blue and red; an “Armor of God” patch on a man’s fatigues; a white cross declaring “Trump won” in all capitals. All of this was interspersed with allusions to QAnon conspiracy theories, Confederate flags and anti-Semitic T-shirts.

The blend of cultural references, and the people who brought them, made clear a phenomenon that has been brewing for years now: that the most extreme corners of support for Mr. Trump have become inextricable from some parts of white evangelical power in America. Rather than completely separate strands of support, these groups have become increasingly blended together.

This potent mix of grievance and religious fervor has turbocharged the support among a wide swath of Trump loyalists, many of whom describe themselves as participants in a kind of holy war, according to interviews. And many, who are swimming in falsehoods about the presidential election and now the riot itself, said the aftermath of Wednesday’s event has only fueled a deeper sense of victim-hood and being misunderstood.

Lindsay French, 40, an evangelical Christian from Texas, flew to Washington after she had received what she called a “burning bush” sign from God to participate following her pastor urging congregants to “stop the steal.”

People have been arguing about what happened at the U.S. Capitol is not a coup. These observations are based on the idea that a coup is a sudden, violent seizure of power involving clandestine plots and military takeovers. By contrast, Trump’s goal was to keep himself in power, and his actions were taken over a period of months and in slow motion.

But that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a coup attempt. Trump disguised what he was doing by operating in plain sight, talking openly about his intent. He normalized his actions so people would accept them. I’ve been studying authoritarian regimes for three decades, and I know the signs of a coup when I see them.

Technically, what Trump attempted is what’s known as a “self-coup” and Trump isn’t the first leader to try it. Charles Louis Napoleon Bonaparte (nephew of the first Napoleon) pulled one off in France in December 1851 to stay in power beyond his term. Then he declared himself Emperor, Napoleon III. More recently, Nicolas Maduro perpetrated a self-coup in Venezuela after losing the 2017 elections.

The storming of the Capitol building on January 6 was the culmination of a series of actions and events taken or instigated by Trump so he could retain the presidency that together amount to an attempt at a self-coup. This was not a one-off or brief episode. Trump declared “election fraud” immediately on November 4 even while the votes were still being counted. He sought to recount and rerun the election so that he, not Joe Biden, was the winner. In Turkey, in 2015, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan successfully did the same thing; he had called elections to strengthen his presidency, but his party lost its majority in the Parliament. He challenged the results in the courts, marginalized the opposition and forced what he blatantly called a “re-run election.”

And then there are those who, democrat and republicans' both, are going to vote to impeach him for the second time. A few in the house and many in the senate.

I think most do not understand that not only is this about preventing him from running for office again. If convicted he will lose all the perks presented to a former president when he leaves office, and they are substantial.

On a side note, New York just invalidated their contracts with Trump to the tune of 17 million dollars annually. The noose is tightening.

The Capitol mob didn’t come out of nowhere. It was a response to the concerted attack on 2020’s election results crafted by elite right-wing politicians, academics, and attorneys. No law professor played a bigger role in Donald Trump’s plot to overturn the election than John Eastman. As the president’s actual attorneys backed away from his coup, Eastman rushed in to fill the void, attempting to bolster the scheme with incoherent legal theories. When Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton urged the Supreme Court to overturn the election by nullifying millions of votes, it was Eastman who intervened on Trump’s behalf to endorse Paxton’s suit. When Trump exhorted Vice President Mike Pence to award him a second term by unilaterally disqualifying electoral votes, it was Eastman who advised Pence that he could, indeed, throw the election to Trump. And when Trump needed a putative legal scholar to lend credence to his pre-insurrection rally, he brought out Eastman to deliver a speech alongside Rudy Giuliani, ringleader of the president’s efforts to steal the election.

It is no surprise that Eastman, a white supremacist on the far-right fringe of the conservative legal movement, played a major role in the president’s failed coup. What is remarkable—and, with each passing day, extraordinarily damning—is the Federalist Society’s refusal to address Eastman’s role in the insurrection. Eastman is not only a member of the Federalist Society, the network of conservative attorneys that provided the legal scaffolding for Trumpism. He is the chairman of the organization’s Federalism and Separation of Powers practice group and a frequent participant in its public events. The Federalist Society’s refusal to expel, condemn, or distance itself from Eastman in any way indicates that the organization is untroubled by the subversion of American democracy.

Eastman has spent much of his career promoting blatant lies. He gained notoriety in August when Newsweek published his column questioning the citizenship of Vice President–elect Kamala Harris. Eastman argued that Harris may not be an American citizen—and, thus, may not qualify for vice president—because her parents had not become U.S. citizens when she was born. In reality, the Constitution guarantees beyond debate that the children of immigrants who are born in the United States become American citizens at birth. But Eastman has spent decades denying this fact, instead proposing the objectively false theory that these children do not receive birthright citizenship. His racist theory would require the government to strip citizenship from millions of Americans, most of them nonwhite, and subject them to deportation. (Newsweek later apologized for running his piece.)

According to the article cited the riot was really - yes, REALLY!! - a coup! Because, as the author claims ...

Quote:

I know the signs of a coup when I see them.
And these are the signs:
Quote:

The Military: this episode (BLM protest) emphasized the nonpolitical position of the U.S. military.
So ACCORDING TO THE AUTHOR, TRUMP DID ***NOT*** HAVE CONTROL OF THE MILITARY FOR POLITICAL PURPOSES.
OOPS.
Maybe ... not a coup.
Quote:

Communications: Trump put a loyalist in charge of the Post Office.
Putting a crony in charge of the PO is SOP for every president ...
Quote:

He did not take TV and radio by storm ...
According to the author, the m$m continued to function and broadcast stories, fabrications, and editorials that were anti-Trump. So. TRUMP DID NOT HAVE CONTROL OF THE MEDIA.
OOPS.
Maybe ... not a coup.
Quote:

The judiciary: Trump frequently called for investigations into his opponents and for courts and law enforcement to “lock them all up!”
To be unbiased here, the democrats and the m$m were FAR worse in leaks of anonymous unevidenced claims of lawbreaking, and ginning up political investigations of anyone associated with Trump, and Trump himself; all this done with the support of the FBI, CIA, and NSA, along with the sister agencies of the other of the Five Eyes. And it's not that any of Trump's rhetoric factually happened. It's obvious TRUMP DIDN'T HAVE CONTROL OF THE JUDICIARY.
OOPS.
Maybe ... not a coup.
Quote:

The legislature: Finally, Trump usurped the Republican Party. ... 147 Republican members of Congress, led by Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, did endorse some of Trump’s efforts to challenge the election results and overturn the constitutional order. So did Senators Josh Hawley, Ted Cruz and six other politically ambitious senators who wanted to tap into Trump’s popular support.
The author seems confused about democracy. According to his thinking, popular support and votes are to be ignored in favor of preordained outcomes. If Trump gets support from fellow Republicans who're looking at their districts and states, AND COUNTING UP VOTES, it's democracy in action. And once again ...
OOPS.
Maybe ... not a coup.

One of the persistent mysteries of the past week is what leads Republican House members—some of whom had to crouch on the floor of the chamber while the Capitol was under attack while others were whisked into unidentified locations for their own safety—to refuse to accept who was to blame for the insurrection. With the exception of the 10 Republican House members who voted alongside the Democrats to impeach the president, and a smattering of Republicans who acknowledged that the events of last week could easily have ended their lives but wanted to convene a commission to investigate matters, a non-trivial number of Republicans took to the floor on Wednesday to insist that the real injury of January 6, 2021 was to their own free speech rights. This was perhaps best embodied in the galactically stupid visual of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the QAnon supporting representative from Georgia, who falsely tweeted that Trump would stay in office after inauguration day, wearing a mask that read “CENSORED” as she spoke freely on the House floor, as captured on national television.

There was also Rep Jim Jordan’s inexplicable claim that one cannot “have a functioning First Amendment when cancel culture only allows one side to talk” (again, he was saying this freely on the floor of the House of Representatives).

To get back to the title for a bit: So..5 people are dead as a result of Chumps(sic) stunts to avoid prosecution and litigations (sic)

This is a really, really silly claim ... far beyond silly. It ASSumes that Trump could indefinitely postpone leaving the presidency for all his natural-born days. That could never happen in any human-controlled scenario.

Trump will leave the White House. It could have happened in 2025, but it's going to happen in 2021. There was never any doubt. Unless an asteroid hits the planet or there's some extreme unforeseen event that stops the global clock, it's a certainty.

So Trump forever escaping whatever awaits him in the future - especially due to a less than 24-hour riot by a few thousand people - is a total fantasy.

All this sturm un drang is manufactured hysteria by the democrats* and the m$m.*

Trump DID NOT direct supporters to "storm the Capitol building" despite the oft-rpeated lie. (SECOND reposts that lie often) The only way nyone gets to make that claim is by repeatedly misrepresenting Trump, who urged supporters to PEACEFULLY AND PATRIOTICALLY CHEER for some Congresspeople. I posted the video of his entire quote, if anyone is interested in FACTS.

Since accusations afterwards are based on that lie, the whole thing is nonsense.

As far as I'm concerned, this is a DEAD THREAD, like all of the hyperventilation about RUSSIA! and KAVANUAGH! and COVINGTON! and UKRAINE!

It's just a bunch of people endlessly regurgitating lies and whipping each other into a fact-free frenzy. Apparently, not a single one of them has read "1984".

We now know that several people involved in this insurrection had detailed inside knowledge of the layout of the Capitol, including the locations of certain offices, that people removed panic buttons, and that some knew where the tunnels were.

They were given guided tours.

This was an inside job, and we're lucky these trumptard terrorists didn't murder more people.

Trump says he won the election by a landslide. He lies; he lost. He says "stop the steal". He lies; the election was not stolen. And he said his lies just before the mob went to hang V.P. Mike Pence, who was in the middle of certifying that Trump lost the election. The day after the mob was cleared out of the Capitol Building, Pence did certify Trump lost.

Trump tweeted this just a minute before the Capitol Building riot started:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!

Twitter marked that as: "This claim of election fraud is disputed, and this Tweet can’t be replied to, Retweeted, or liked due to a risk of violence". Far too late, Twitter deleted the tweet: "This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules. Learn more"
