This was emailed to me from another Nextdoor neighborhood. I thought it was a hoot! I hope you enjoy it.

Oddly enough, my west side neighbors put up red and blue flashing lights around Halloween, where they still are to this day - flashing in through the top half of my side window.

It took about 3 weeks for it to wear off!

I think they've developed very effective "police activity camouflage". They should patent and sell it! Guaranteed to wear down neighborhood watch captains and busybody neighbors!

Oddly enough an ambulance showed up at that house and I DIDN'T notice! until I heard the radio which was on 'speaker'. (Everyone is OK, the mom was just feeling woozy.)

That time before when it was actually the police was around 3AM after I heard what sounded like 2 shotgun blasts. They showed up silently (lights, no sirens) and I never would have noticed but for the red and blue flashing in my window, and that I was still awake and rattled after hearing what sounded like shotgun blasts right by the side of my house (the neighbor on the other side).

No tree this year, but lots of xmas lights inside. I thought we should go big on them so I looked online for some more and they have jumped in price - insane. On Thanksgiving, I gave thanks for roof over our heads and a warm place to sleep, good food on the table and family and neighbors that cared.

On Christmas, I believe that my neighbors are caring folk who look out for each other as best they can. EVEN IF that means wearing masks. You're letting this whole Covid-19 drive your outlook, when in reality at least half of the people of the USA are responsible, caring folk ... maskless or not ... who are doing their best to do the right thing.

I don't include the assholes here on fff.net because they are spite-filled knowing liars who just hate, hate, hate 24/7/365. But they don't represent the majority of people. Don't become like them, SIX. Don't turn into a hater.

Don't be a hater. Be of good cheer: There are many good people out there. They don't get the "benefit of the doubt" because I don't doubt them in the least. My (Hispanic/Cubano) across-the-street neighbors who just had their house built- they wear masks but guess what? They voted for Trump. My around-the-corner white male neighbor who's a firefighter, shares a woodworking passion with hubby. My next-door Korean neighbors, VERY religious (you know, I'm not religious at all)- they prayed for me when my heart was stuttering. THEIR (Hispanic) next-door neighbors ... always very friendly, they put up such nice Xmas decorations every year to celebrate the season and to show they care. My backyard (white) neighbor- Neighborhood Watch captain. My other (Japanese) backyard neighbor ... takes care of her 90-year-old dad and daughter at UCI. I chat with my many neighbors when I walk the dog, and there is only one a-hole on the whole block. I like them all, whether they wear masks (or not), whether they are religious (or not), whether they voted for Trump (or not... but most of them did btw) not because of any particular ethnicity or POV but because they aren't a-holes.

This forum... has more than it's share of a-holes.

My propane tank for my flame thrower (weed torch) ran out, so I got a filled tank and small tree (about as tall as I am, "noble fir"). Hubby and daughter were invaluable setting it up and lugging in the groceries, so now I'm sitting with a small glass of brandy, sore from the hips down, planning to make chicken and dumplings for dinner.

You're welcome to come over for dinner, y'all!

That includes you too, THUGR! I make a mean chicken and dumplings! If you want a bowl of shredded chicken and vegetables in a home-made chicken broth, cream, and white wine- based soup with nice chewy dumplings on top, come on over!

I'm pretty proud of my chicken and dumplings. My next-best dish is Thai red curry with pork (or beef) stirfried with cilantro, basil, fish sauce and sugar.

I'm an international cook... Mexican, New Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Thai, Indian, southern, German, Swedish... My specialities! C'mon down!

That sounds delicious!

I'm trying out a new recipe of fried "rice' made from well-toasted riced cauliflower, chicken, eggs, carrots and onions, plus green onions as a garnish and a splash of soy sauce. This is a first-timer, so I'm curious how it'll turn out. I've toasted riced cauliflower before, and no, it doesn't taste like rice, but it has a nice slightly-nutty slightly-cauliflower taste that I think will do OK in this dish. (But boy, when it's toasted it shrinks down to nothing !!)
