The only way I can account for her desire to eradicate "thought crime" (and of course the people who dare to commit such deviant wrong-think) and her hatred of men is that she was abused by a man in her family and ignored by a histrionic mother, who made everything about her.
I can't help but compare WISHY to the mother who was acid-burned. That mother, and daughter, were disfigured by an act of cruelty that turned them into physical monsters, but they (the mom especially) managed to rise above it and remain human.
