I'm not even going to read any posts in here today because with the news I woke up to I can just imagine what they look like and why ruin my day when it's in the 60's and I've got work to do outside?
With no clear mandate, this is not the way that a candidate wanted to win in 2020. The only real loser is the American people. Not because there is a probably Biden win in the end, but because no matter which way this turns out, if you thought that the worst of 2020 would be behind us no matter which side won, clearly you were fooling yourself. This is going to drag out longer than Bush/Gore did, and we all here are living proof that 2020 is a much worse year for something like this than 2000 was.
This election was pure 2020 through and through, and OF COURSE this is the way things had to go.
I will state for the record now that I would MUCH rather have been entirely wrong and saw a 500 point Biden landslide and taken all of the lumps from everybody here and in real life than have what we're left with now.
Three bits of advice to everyone today:
1. If you talk politics with friends and family, STOP talking to friends and family about politics immediately... or at least know that if you don't you likely risk losing some of them.
2. Along with social distancing measures when you're out, also practice situational awareness... especially when it's dark outside. Consider at least carrying some pepper spray on your person.
3. Try to be positive. We'll all get through this somehow.

Not sure how the day went for the rest of America, but I had a great one.
If Biden wins, I've already made peace with it. You're not going to see me flip out. I said before the election I'll show you how an adult behaves when he or she doesn't get their way.
All of the words in my initial post mattered, and should be taken to heart.
Our country is broken. And it doesn't matter who's elected president, they're not going to be able to fix it.
The only thing I can be absolutely sure of is that no matter who wins when all is said and done, there is zero chance that the next four years are going to be anywhere near the level of bad that Trump haters spent the last four years saying everything was.
If Biden wins, I hope he can fix all of the problems you've been complaining about and doesn't let you down. There are obviously a good deal of individuals here who have let problems outside of their control dictate how they live their life and view and treat other people, and maybe 4 years of Biden will be the cure they need.
Good luck to y'all. I'll just go back to doing what I was doing the last four sober years. Because Trump didn't fix my life. That's on me.
I hope you all find whatever it is you're looking for.

I can agree that the US is broken in many ways but I still like to think that it is fixable. But it is going to be hard work and take both sides to do it.

Thanks for the optimism Brenda, but the problem is the two sides.
There can't be any reconciliation. It's a decades long festering that's been happening since long before I was born that's come to a boiling point in the last decade.
I'm afraid there's no outsourcing this problem.
When the Establishment has done whatever it takes to get their way right now, it's not going to work out like anybody who voted for them will think that it does, and the cracks within the Democratic party will show themselves with no bogey man to focus their collective rage on. Many facets of today's Democratic party are wholly incompatible with each other without a Big Bad to distract them from that fact.
Watch for Nancy Pelosi to clash on the regular with AOC and the rest of the JDs. I'm honestly shocked that she didn't have a stroke during the last four years being stuck between Trump and the Gang of Four.
As for any "voter fraud"... I'm not even going to bother speaking about that, because it makes absolutely no difference. This one is on the American people. There's no way that enough voter fraud to win could ever have been possible if it wasn't close in the first place. I absolutely cannot believe that and love my country at the same time, so I refuse to.
But it was close. It was so depressingly close.
So four years of absolutely nothing is going to get done, and that's probably the best thing that can happen to the American People right now. The House doesn't have a mandate. The Senate looks like it will maintain its razor thin majority. The SCOTUS isn't going to allow 2nd Amendment rights to go anywhere or let millions of illegals flood the borders unchecked and destroy whatever illusion of wealth America still has.
Joe Biden is a lame duck before they've even counted up the rest of the boxes mail in ballots they're finding all over the place.
So now I guess we just wait for 4 years. The Trump Team gets him off of the McDonalds-a-day diet, gets him on the treadmill and makes him do crossword puzzles and Sudoku everyday to keep his mind sharp.
And we get to see the next evolution of America going down the toilet and destroying itself when our choice is between AOC and Trump for 2024. And after 4 years of broken promises and infighting, the Democratic party will be so disenfranchised that Trump easily serves his second term non-consecutively and becomes only the second president in American history to do so.
Meh... whatever. I got plenty of stuff to do. What is left of my problems aren't going anywhere no matter who's running the local politics, let alone the country. I'm the only one who can do anything about that.
It will probably be nice to take a break from politics again if the Democrats are running the show.
That is, after all, how adults handle things when they don't get their way.

Trump lost, but the Republicans gained ground in congress. It seems that many Republicans were sick of Trump, but not their party.
The Dems are divided between the corporate whores and the progressives. The progressives won their elections solidly. The corporate whores were replaced by Republican corporate whores.
Beating corporate whores in primaries is difficult. The success of the "squad" came from hard-fought door-to-door campaigns vs. the well-financed incumbents.

3. Try to be positive. We'll all get through this somehow.

After the Constitutional Convention, Ben Franklin was asked what kind of Government do we have. He replied something like a democracy, if we can keep it.
The Freedoms and Rights we have were our Birthright, granted to us before we were born, and now so many are willing to close their eyes, cover their ears, while the Nation is stolen away. If we allow this to proceed, we do not deserve the Nation, Liberties, Freedoms, and Rights which we allowed to be taken via fraud.

I'm honestly asking.
I'm not turning my back on America. I'm just saying that it is what it is. We all knew this was going to happen eventually. Even if Trump won, it would have happened in 2024 instead. The Establishment wanted the power back and they own the Legacy Media and have an inordinate amount of control over what people think. Even more than I thought they did, sadly, and I'm pretty disappointed about it.
But I'm sure as shit not going to behave like they did for the next four years. I've got plenty of stuff to keep me busy and I'm still working on fixing problems I made for myself with my bad behavior.
All of my successes the last four years are mine. I own them just like I own all of my shortcomings the five or so years before them.
If the Revolution ever comes, I'll be ready. But I'm not throwing the first stone. I've got too much to lose and I really don't think the next four years are going to be bad. To raise the minimum wage, health care, climate change, a more inclusive society and a fairer and balanced justice system. Yes, they have some social programs but they are in no way socialists. Big, and I mean big difference. American is the same. We recognize the necessity of social programs to assist a country's population.
I also find it disingenuous when you suggest people who have run from socialist countries, are to ignorant to recognize socialist leaning democrats as being a potential problem because they too practice a populist message, just as Trump did. Most Democrats see socialists as a problem as well.
