Were you tracking when BoJo had COVID-19? Information was scarce, late, and contradictory. Only later did people find out that doctors were on standby waiting to put him on a ventilator ... which they ultimately didn't need to do, but he was on the cusp. The effects of his serious case were evident for weeks afterward, as he did little work, made next to no appearances, and looked wan and drawn whenever he was seen in public. His illness was, for him, a COVID-19 come-to-Jesus turning point.
IMO my reading is that Trump is/ was 'on the cusp', which is why the optimistic-yet-cautionary info. They've given him the million-dollar treatment of round-the-clock care and every experimental and proven therapy available. And either everything they've done will, singly or in combination, ultimately work (I can't imagine how every single treatment will fail, and I believe he'll pull through), or he'll get worse. They just need to wait and see, and afaik the course of his CVOID-19 appears to be volatile. He had a fever and his O2Sat was dropping precipitously, they treated him with antibody cocktail and Remdesivir (and possibly other therapies) and his fever went away, but apparently his O2Sat was up and down. So then they gave him dexamethasone.
FWIW I don't expect Trump will also have a come-to-Jesus moment about COVID-19 like BoJo. Partly because he'll probably be spared the worst of the virus thanks to all of the therapies; and also because imo he's incapable of conceiving of his own mortality.

One of the Democratic lawmakers who explicitly invoked Nazism and Hitler as the proper prism to understand Trump’s rule was House Whip James Clyburn of South Carolina. Just two months ago, Clyburn went back on CNN and warned that Trump was preparing to hold despotic power even if he loses, pronouncing: “I feel very strongly that he is Mussolini, Putin is Hitler.”
Yet when Clyburn learned this week that our modern-day Hitler who is on the precipice of ending democracy had contracted a fatal virus, he did not celebrate but instead, for some reason, lamented the news, wishing “the First Family a speedy and complete recovery.” Why would you possibly wish a speedy recovery — rather than a quick demise — to someone you believe is a Hitler-like perpetrator of genocide whose recovery would enable fascism to continue? That seems counter-intuitive and counter-productive.
The overwhelming reaction to the news that the fascist dictator has contracted a potentially lethal virus is to hope and pray that he makes a speedy recovery whereby he can resume his democracy-destroying, genocidal, tyrannical, fascist rule.
