I have been in a dvd frenzy recently

I Robot

Dawn Of The Dead

King Arthur

Manchurian Candidate

Spiderman II

Chronicles of Riddick

I Robot was better than I expected and alluded to the zeroth law that Asimov came up with late in life. Still no similarity to the original Asimov story but worth watching imo

Dawn Dead was better than the Night of remake and filled with great opportunities to think, "well why didn't the idiots do this or that. It was bad in a good way and plenty gory, if you like that.

King Arthur was excellent but historically inaccurate as described below. Unlike DOTD the fun is in overlooking the flaws instead of finding them. I watched it twice.

Manchurian Candidate is a waste of time. It doesn't touch the original.

Spiderman 2 severely set back sequels. I just get sick of the angst.

COR-hard not to just turn it off.

I was recently pleasantly surprised by "Collateral". I didn't expect much going in, but was talked into watching it and enjoyed it a great deal. Great acting. Great cinematography.

"Ghost in the Shell 2 - Innocence". Wow. If you liked the first one (and I did), this is every bit as good. This is every bit the robot movie "I, Robot" isn't. But comparing these two is like comparing a diamond and a turd (I'm already banned from geek society for ragging on "The Matrix" so I don't need to do that anymore).

If you want something lighter - "Dodgeball". A lightweight, but a fun lightweight.

Saw Lemony Snicket's and thought it was terrific. Great performances and special effects. I'm planning on getting the DVD when it is released.

Just saw Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and will also get the DVD. What an odd and fantastic adventure. I loved it. What fun!

I just saw House of Flying Daggers - what a great film, saw Hero earlier this year but this was worth the wait, fantastic.

Along with watching the Firefly DVDs for what I believe was the sixteenth time, I also watched (for the second time) Richard Linklater's Before Sunset with Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke. I love this film, along with the original Before Sunrise from 1994. Also watched Girl With a Pearl Earring with Scarlett Johanson and Colin Firth, and The Day the Earth Stood Still (although I haven't yet watched any of the supplementary materials. A little over a week ago I watched Adaptation.

I just saw Finding Neverland today. I thought it was wonderful, and Johnny Depp is fantastic. That man is freakishly talented, and the story was sweet and moving without being cloying or forced.

Packer fans welcome.

In America - That movie made me weep like a tiny baby. Good stuff.

The Door in the Floor - The acting was fnatastic. The story was so full of subtext it became a little difficult to interpret. I was never quite sure of anybody's motivation, but the movie was still pretty good. Not for children at all.

Supersize Me - In case I was close to forgetting Fast Food Nation and going back to McDonald's, this movie came along to remind me of why I don't eat fast food. Plus, I'm never drinking soda again. Mission accomplished, Morgan Spurlock.

I saw Finding Neverland yesterday. It was excellent. Johnny Depp and the boy actor who played Peter (not Peter Pan) were excellent. The story was great. I don't care that it was made up. It seems very plausible that this is the way that Peter Pan was generated.

Garden State - loved it, had everything - comedy, drama, romance, angst and great acting from all involved (Zach Braff - who also wrote and directed, Natalie Portman, Peter Sarsgard and many others).

Wicker Park (the American version) - much better than I thought it would be, but I can't say that I'm dying to see it again. Came to the conclusions that Josh Hartnett always plays the same character, and that Matthew Lillard's presence can make any movie better. A good movie to watch with other people so you can talk at the slow bits (of which there are many) and yell at the characters together.

I, Robot - I liked it, but I need to re-watch it when I'm not in a NyQuil induced haze (I missed the first 10-20 minutes)
