Democrats can't even pay decent lip service to ordinary Americans and their economic misfortunes.

No amount of Trump-demonizing is going to change the perception that democrats can't even pretend to address our economy that's failed everyday Americans.

SM100_and_FSS_Dean_06_23_20-0001.pdf

Background: USPS automation machines sort 3 types of mail: Letter Mail, Flats (manilla envelopes, sealed magazines, other packages greater than 8.5" x 11" but not thicker than an inch), and packages.
Letter mail has slowed since 9-11, and so has Flats. While package mail has grown in volume, and is highly competitive, and sought after by competitors - and USPS has had a habit of processing them at a loss of revenue - for decades.

It mentions 4 types of machines. AFCSs, which are actually AFCS-ISS machines, operated by Mail Handlers and Operate at peak efficiency at about 30,000/hr. They can crank their figures up to 34K, but anything over 30k is purely errors. There have not been any base model AFCSs in USPS in more than 10 years.
AFCS-ISS machines process letter mail only. Flats are culled out in the 2nd culling stage. Packages cannot fit in the machine, and if they enter the machine, are culled at the first point (if the machine didn't jam from them). By 2010 there were about 2,000 of these machines. For instance, in WI there were 8 in Milwaukee, 6 in Madison, 2 each in Green Bay, Eau Claire, LaCrosse, Wausau, Oshkosh, and 1 in Kingsford. Obama reduced those 8 sites down to 2 for the whole state, and those 25 machines down to about 14 remaining, because he eliminated the Mandate of Next Day Delivery.

The other 3 types of machines mentioned are operated by Clerks, members of the APWU.

DBCSs process solely Letter Mail, at a speed up to 43,000 for the older machines, but about 35-38,000 for the "new & better" versions. The older units often don't run at capacity because the Unionized Postal Workers are too lazy to do the work to allow the machines to function properly.
By 2010, there were about 10,000 DBCSs in USPS - not including several thousand DIOSS, a higher-functioning upgrade to the base DBCS (unlikely that any DIOSSs are being thrown out, nor any DBCS-OSSs.)
Milwaukee had 28, GB had 10.

One of these stories mentions that the 671 machines are about 10% of the current stable - meaning Obama has already cut them down to around 6,700 machines before Trump ever populated the White House.

The next 2 machines are humungus, and not very populous due to the smaller footprint desired by USPS facilities. Sites in WI could barely fit one inside, and often not that.
AFSMs and FSS process Flats mail. They are much, much slower than the letter machines. The flats are "injected" into the carousel at a rate of about 4-7 per second. IIRC 120 per minute was the fastest rate we got out if them, and that was cooking (there are mechanical limitations).

That USPS spokesman said that they were reallocating due to demand, and for years now they have been pointing out that Letters and Flats have been in decline, and now they are switching operations over to focus on package mail.

When time, I need to check the annual mail volume from 2001, and 2010, and 2016, and now. They usually report that stuff every year, along with the total number of unique addresses in the U.S.

https://naps.org/files/galleries/Notice_of_reduction_of_AFCS,_DBCS,_AF
SM100_and_FSS_Dean_06_23_20-0001.pdf

This story mentions that 5 out of 20 DBCSs were removed, again in line with current trends, and a minor fraction of the machines that Obamination get rid of. But the largest Union in the world, APWU, needs to whine about something because their overtime is gone, thanks to Obama eliminating the Mandate of Next Day Delivery about 8-10 years ago.

He needs to stick to sports. He doesn't know jack about anything else.

The US Post Office is legendary for their efficiency. It is my preferred service, by far. It provides better service than UPS or FedEx.

Further, the post office is a necessary service. It is the ONLY service that guarantees mail delivery to everyone in the country. As to letter mail, it is one price to anywhere in the States.

The Republicans have been trying for years to destroy the post office, even though it is one of the few agencies mentioned in the constitution explicitly. Somebody tell the cabinet officers that most of their positions are not mentioned in the constitution, but the Postmaster General is.

The federal highways that crisscross the country are Post Roads. To the founding fathers the post office was exceedingly important. It still is.

Adding to the neverending list of lies from reaverbot.

THE POST OFFICE was not created by the Constitution. The Constitution authorized that A Post Office (of some sort) could be created by Congress. The Post Office Department from before 1970 was different than the United States Postal Service (after 1970).

The Postmaster General is not mentioned in The Constitution, but was created by Congress at least a year later. The PMG is not a member of the Cabinet, at least not since 1970.

'Quiet Revolt' Brewing at USPS as Postal Workers Defy Postmaster General Louis DeJoy's Mail Sabotage
"A good reminder to thank your letter carrier for the important work they do."
https://www.commondreams.org/news/2020/09/29/quiet-revolt-brewing-usps
-postal-workers-defy-postmaster-general-louis-dejoys-mail

On top of mounting court injunctions and ongoing investigations by members of Congress, Postmaster General Louis DeJoy is running up against another key source of resistance as he attempts to implement sweeping changes to the U.S. mail service just ahead of the November election: letter carriers and other rank-and-file Postal Service employees.

Angered by DeJoy's efforts to overhaul longstanding USPS policies designed to ensure mail is delivered on time, postal workers across the nation have been slow-walking and outright defying instructions from leadership to leave mail behind, dismantle sorting machines, and cut back on overtime in an effort to limit the damage to a service that millions rely on to vote, receive life-saving medications, and run small businesses.

"There's a point where I got angry. I'm not happy at all that I'm being politicized. I'm literally trying to do my job, and they're telling me that I can't."
—New York postal worker

That's according to the Washington Post's Jacob Bogage, who reported Tuesday that as DeJoy—a Republican mega-donor to President Donald Trump—moved aggressively in recent weeks to implement "cost-cutting" measures that resulted in dramatic mail slowdowns nationwide, postal workers across the nation responded with tactics ranging from "insubordination to small acts of neighborly heroism."

God bless our patriotic heroes at USPS!

EARLY VOTING SUGGESTS BIDEN IS GOING TO ANNIHILATE TRUMP, AND THE GOP IS SOILING ITSELF
The president’s attacks on mail-in voting are backfiring spectacularly.
https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2020/09/donald-trump-joe-biden-early-v
oting

The Washington Post reports that the Democratic voters who have requested mail-in ballots and sent them back “greatly outnumber Republicans” in states such as Florida, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maine, and Iowa. A similar trend is apparently occurring in Ohio, Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Wisconsin, and GOP leaders and strategists are freaking out. The disparity has reportedly been “the subject of urgent discussions” among GOP officials, who are “stunn[ed]” by the margins and fear the news is not just bad for Trump but for other Republicans on the ballot. While the party is said to be focused on voter turnout on Election Day itself, Whit Ayers, a longtime Republican pollster, told the Post the fear is that older voters, who typically support Republicans, are concerned about being infected with COVID-19 and could choose to stay home if the pandemic intensifies in the run-up to November 3 (which would be yet another reason not to cast a ballot for Trump, whose handling of the crisis has been shambolic at best).

While they’d likely never say it in public, privately, officials know they have the president to thank for the skewed numbers when it comes to mail-in ballots, and Republicans have spent the last few months frantically trying to clean up the mess:

I keep hearing Libtards also claim that mail is being left on the docks, not loaded on the trucks.

This is also a fallacy. The also pertains to Obama deleting the Next Day Delivery mandate almost 10 years ago.
The trucks are on a schedule. They need to depart at their scheduled time. They need to arrive at their scheduled time, because after that stop they need to maintain their schedule for the next stop and the next - each stop being where other trucks will be taking some of the mail containers from other trucks to advance in thier part of the nationwide network of transportation.

In order to clamor for more overtime, Union "workers" delay the preparation and loading of mail onto the trucks in a timely manner, thus trying to delay the trucks. When the trucks depart on time as they need to, the mail which was Slow-worked by the Union "workers" is left "on the docks" at the facility. That volume of mail will, of course, get on to the next truck heading the same way, likely the same route. But now that the Mail sortation is a 24-hour operation, this delaying of the mail ploy practiced by Unions has no effect, like it used to when there actually was a Next Day Delivery mandate, before Obama abolished it.

The whole purpose of the abolishment of Next Day Delivery mandate was, in effect, to ALWAYS LEAVE MAIL ON THE DOCKS. This reduces half-empty trucks, more efficient transportation, as well as no more need for overtime (which was the Holy Grail for Union Postal "workers").
Might you wonder about this focus on transportation efficiency? The trucks are traveling for up to 6 hours IN EACH DIRECTION to get to a facility which used to spend less than 12 hours sorting and processing the mail, and now spend far less time. The transportation is planned to take more time than the actual processing. So the efficiency of the transportation is far more critical, and the delayed processing is of far less import than back when the mandate existed for Next Day Delivery.

Hope that helps interested parties to understand.

WMTW-TV reports the machine that can sort more than 20,000 letters an hour went back into operation on Thursday.

It was one of two machines that were mothballed at the Southern Maine Mail Processing Center in Scarborough. The other was discarded for scrap metal.

Postal Service says it will reverse all changes it has made, prioritize election mail
https://www.oregonlive.com/nation/2020/10/postal-service-says-it-will-

HELENA, Mont. — The U.S. Postal Service agreed Wednesday to reverse changes that slowed mail service nationwide, settling a lawsuit filed by Montana Gov. Steve Bullock during a pandemic that is expected to force many more people to vote by mail.

The lawsuit filed against Postmaster General Louis DeJoy and the U.S. Postal Service on Sept. 9 argued changes implemented in June harmed access to mail services in Montana, resulting in delayed delivery of medical prescriptions, payments, and job applications, and impeding the ability of Montana residents to vote by mail.

The postal service agreed to reverse all changes, which included reduced retail hours, removal of collection boxes and mail sorting machines, closure or consolidation of mail processing facilities, restriction of late or extra trips for timely mail delivery, and banning or restricting overtime.

The agreement also requires the Postal Service to prioritize election mail.

The settlement agreement was reached a day ahead of a hearing in the U.S. District Court in Great Falls. It applies to all states.

I am certain there remain some Libtards here who cannot comprehend the difference from Obamination's deletion o the Next Day Mail Delivery Mandate.

So I will explain.
If a citizen requests a ballot by Tuesday, Oct 27th, and the Election Day is Tuesday November 3rd.

Under the Pre-Obama Mandate of Next Day Delivery:
The Elections Clerk can prepare the ballot for Mail pickup on the 27th. If the Mail pickup time is already past (likey the morning), then lazy government office workers are unlikely to carry the mail to a drop box. So the mail gets picked up on Wed, 28 Oct. This then gets trucked to the Processing Center that night, cancelled, and sorted in time for Delivery to the citizen on Thursday 29 Oct.
The citizen could then fill out the ballot and put it in their mailbox for pickup on Friday 30 Oct. The mail is picked up on Friday, and since the government office is likely closed on Saturday, the ballot mail would be delivered to the Clerk's Office on Monday, 2 Nov in time for the election.

Even if the citizen looked at the ballot and saw some names or races they were not familiar with, and delayed a day to discuss with friends and family, pickup on Saturday would still result in delivery by Monday. If the citizen delayed until dropping off for Monday pickup, the ballot would still be delivered by Tuesday Election Day. This sequence of events is still assuming everything goes without a
