Let's take a look at your (oft-stated) hatred of boomers, and let me ask you a question: WHY should people buy into a system that's just going to scrape them off at the end? Why should anyone work hard, raise a family, and save if they're going to be abandoned by the family that they raised and the society that they contributed to?
I can hear you right now blubbering But ... but... but that's not what they did! They made things easy for themselves! They ran away from the family so they could drink and do rewarding grownup things and left me to take care of my brothers!
I think that you still have mommy and daddy issues (especially mommy issues).
I grew up in what was, in retrospect, a fairly dysfunctional family. But life gave me a view of what they had been going thru, and until you try and do what they did I suggest you not whine too loudly about their job performance. Besides, what you blame "boomers" for wasn't their fault. THEY didn't design Social Security and Medicare, and THEY didn't promote global warming. Blaming "old people" for everything that's wrong is like blaming
"whites" for everything that's wrong.
Not gonna discuss this with you, just my $0.02.

The problem is, the police reacted LIKE POLICE: they tried to impose their authority when the situation was a medical one, which they didn't recognize.
We expect cops to deal with assholes and criminals all the time. And there ARE really bad people out there; gangbangers like where our housekeeper lived who kidnapped her husband and made him take money out of the ATM at regular intervals, kidnapped her grandmother and stole her purse, and threatened her two daughters with rape. (This family was targeted bc one of the gang members wanted to live where THEY lived, and were trying to drive them out.) It was scary stuff.
But then when they run into someone who's high, or crazy, or sick, or all of the above, we expect them to take off their police hats and put on their EMT hats and get all empathetic. It's not possible; at least, not for a lot of people.
The police need to have an "out": someone who they can call to deal with the crazy, drunk, sick, high people. Like I said: maybe with a tranquilizer dart.
High on illicit drugs in pubic? That is illegal in most places. Call the cops.
Crazy? Acting Libtard is allowed in many places. It is only when combined with other, illegal activites when problems arise.
Sick? Then you shouldn't be committing felonies where you will lose your freedom to get better.
