Who knew that Trump would handle Covid-19 same as he does everything else, lie than lie some more? Somebody did, but it wasn't me: "The Covid-19 story, told in lies."

Thinking about the course of the Covid-19 pandemic in America, I found myself remembering Sam Smith’s history of the march to war in Iraq, told entirely in official lies. So here’s a modest attempt to do the same for the coronavirus, with statements from officials and right-wing media. I’ve grouped the statements by topic, and used chronological order within each topic.
The course of the pandemic
We think we have it very well under control. We have contained this. I won’t say airtight, but pretty close to airtight. We have done a good job in the United States.
It’s going to disappear. One day, like a miracle, it’s going to disappear. At worst — worst case scenario — it could be the flu.
We’re prepared, and we’re doing a great job with it.
It’s going to go away … when you look at the kind of numbers that you’re seeing coming out of other countries, it’s pretty amazing when you think of it.
This is a pandemic. I felt it was a pandemic long before it was called a pandemic.
It looks like we’ll be at about a 60,000 mark, which is 40,000 less than the lowest number thought of.
Minimal numbers were going to be 100,000 people. And we’re going to be, hopefully, far below that.
So we have between 100 and 200,000, and we altogether have done a very good job.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (Republican) lashed out at Dr. Anthony Fauci on Fox News, saying the nation’s top infectious disease expert has “been wrong every time on every issue.”
“He doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” Patrick said during an interview Tuesday night. “The only thing I’m skipping over is listening to him.”
Patrick was upset after hearing Fauci testify at a U.S. Senate hearing in which he said that more than 50 percent of the new infections in the U.S. are in Texas, Florida, California and Arizona.
Fauci didn’t directly criticize Texas’s reopening but said state officials may have been “going too quickly and skipping over some of the checkpoints” as they lifted stay-home orders.
Patrick said he doesn’t need Fauci’s advice, declaring, “We haven’t skipped over anything.”
Patrick’s remarks came on a day Texas reported 7,700 new infections of COVID-19.

The point being that NYC screwed the pooch, royally.
Plenty of large cities in the US that didn't contribute to the toll like NYC did. A few of them within spitting distance of you, actually.
It's bullshit to classify most of America with the large cities. It's insanity to classify the entire country with NYC.

No ... not really. Not anymore than N Italy, or the care homes of GB or Sweden, or the particular hard-hit regions of Spain.
To show cause and effect, you need to show that deaths in nursing homes in NYC went up only AFTER COVID-19 patients were moved in, and ONLY in those nursing homes that had COIVD-19 patients. And you need to show that those patients were still positive for COVID-19. And to be really persnickety, you need to demonstrate that the particular strain of COVID-19 that killed nursing home patients AFTER new, positive-testing COVID-19 patients were moved in was identical to the strain of those new, positive-testing COVID-19 patients.
What we know - or rather, what * I * know since I follow the facts - is that however named (nursing homes, care homes, long-term facilities, and just plain family residences etc), and wherever they occur on the globe - Washington State, N Italy, Sweden, or NYC - the very elderly and those with multiple medical pre-existing conditions - are most at risk of death compared to anyone else.
And, btw there is no cause-and-effect. 'Nursing home' patients in NYC and coupled populations were dying on the front-lines of infection, before anyone else.
