There was also a ripple effect, with health officials and others not taking the threat as seriously as they should have because Trump kept on making faulty assurances, such as his claim at a Feb. 26 news conference that within the United States, the number of cases was “going to be down to close to zero.”
BULLSHIT.

Public health authorities have lines of communication directly to the CDC. They don't look for Trump's tweets or watch the nightly news to find out what's going on.

OH, BTW, your usual insanity has zero names, zero quotes from any named people, and zero evidence.

Try posting something less insane.

Stop rolling in shit, eating shit, breathing shit, living shit, and especially flinging shit here.

More insanity: Trump tweeted a picture of himself fiddling as Rome burns. Trump writes: "Who knows what this means, but it sounds good to me!" Go see the picture before his staff explains to him what the picture means, followed by Trump deleting the tweet. Or maybe Trump won't delete because he can't admit he was tricked into tweeting something stupid.

Trump tweets a meme of himself fiddling, drawing a comparison to Roman emperor Nero
www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/03/09/trump-coronavirus-nero-qanon/
Bill Kristol, the longtime conservative commentator and “Never Trumper,” agreed with the Nero allusion, describing the meme from Scavino as an “impressively subversive esoteric tweet.” Joanne Freeman, a history professor at Yale University, noted how references to the Roman legend have recently popped up more frequently. “Nero is being recognized more and more these days,” she said. “Except by him.”

Fissures between the White House and national health agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, have begun to expand as the coronavirus pandemic spreads to more American states, creating dissonance between President Donald Trump and the professionals tasked with containing the virus further.

The cracks are falling along predictable lines. While health officials have sought to present a realistic and cautious picture of the national situation, Trump and his political allies are hoping to relay an altogether different message: that the virus is contained, Americans face little risk, and life should proceed as normal. Such a jackass Trump is.

A series of cost-cutting decisions made by the Trump administration in preceding years gutted the nation’s infectious disease defense infrastructure.

The “pandemic response team” firing referred to news accounts from Spring 2018 reporting that White House officials tasked with directing a national response to a pandemic had been ousted.

Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer abruptly departed from his post leading the global health security team on the National Security Council in May 2018 amid a reorganization of the council by then-National Security Advisor John Bolton, and Ziemer’s team was disbanded. Tom Bossert, whom the Washington Post reported “had called for a comprehensive biodefense strategy against pandemics and biological attacks,” had been fired one month prior.

The Trump administration axed the executive branch team responsible for coordinating a response to a pandemic and did not replace it, eliminating Ziemer’s position and reassigning others.

He may pull a similar switcharoo involving big lies and blame shifting on his bungled Coronavirus response and get reelected. Maybe Trump blames Mike Pence. Maybe he blames CDC or the media. Why should anyone trust anything about what the NYT says about anybody's finances when Mara Gay is on the editorial board and thinks that if Mike Bloomberg gave every American a Million dollars instead of pissing it away on his campaign that we'd all be millionaires?

A long time ago, I was a soldier. After, I was an engineer designing safety shutdown systems. In both jobs, reality did not listen to people's bullshit explanations minimizing problems. Too bad Trump never had a job that he could not talk his way out of a problem, at least until the coronavirus arrived. He might need to stop talking for once and start making sensible plans about the coronavirus, rather than his constant minimizing of the danger and shifting the blame. Or maybe not.

Trump's trusted method for winning his battles -- flinging disinformation, alternative facts and biting attacks at his enemies -- is being exposed by coronavirus, a rare force that is impervious to political pressure.

President Donald Trump is dodging responsibility as the coronavirus outbreak morphs into a global pandemic swiftly spreading across America and the stock market tanks. He's instead accusing Democrats and the media of inflaming the crisis.

Trump's leadership will come under new scrutiny Monday after a bruising open to the week on Wall Street where trading was halted after the Dow Jones Industrial Average plunged 7%. CNN's Kevin Liptak reported there is now growing distrust between public health officials and the White House's political team with the former trying to present a realistic picture to the public while Trump aides seek to minimize the virus.

The outbreak -- which CNN now considers a pandemic -- and signs of a disorganized response also raised questions about the President's apparent lack of concern about the latest developments. In a series of tweets on Sunday and Monday morning, the President sought to deflect the blame for the situation and downplay its seriousness.

6ix, you love the Joker movie, maybe because he lives inside a fantasy world. In real life, Joker's mistakes would end very quickly with his death, but in the movies there is always a Batman or a mental health professional around to save him from himself. Similarly, Trump lives in a fantasy world. In real life Trump's mistakes would have killed his business and political career, but there was always a Batman around Trump: Fred Trump or Roy Cohn or Deutsche Bank or the GOP to save Trump from himself.

Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) is a disease that has progressed through the United States faster than COVID19. Similar to frontotemporal lobe dementia, TDS causes emotional lability, high anxiety, anger, intellectual impairment, comprehension difficulty and perceptual disturbances.. Those suffering from TDS are advised to isolate themselves from social media of all kinds, until symptoms abate.

Trump May Use a Reagan-Era Legal Opinion to Censor Coronavirus Information

The Reagan administration invented a precedent to censor AIDS information in the 1980s.

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2020/03/trump-reagan-coronavirus-o
lc.html

As the novel coronavirus has spread across the U.S., the White House’s response has been to muzzle officials and scientists at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, insisting that government communications about coronavirus be vetted and potentially even censored. To justify the authoritarian-style power to suppress information, the White House is likely relying on decades-old legal opinions from the Office of Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice, where I once worked as an attorney. Those poorly reasoned opinions, in the hands of a president who has no regard for the truth, may be putting lives in danger.

The lawyers at OLC are responsible for defining the scope of presidential power for the executive branch. When the White House is anticipating a legally questionable action and wants a definitive statement about the scope of its powers, it will ask OLC for a legal opinion on the matter. These opinions—some are public, many are not—are then treated as precedential. They become the governing law of the executive branch.

One particularly relevant opinion comes from 1988. During the Reagan administration, as the deadly AIDS virus ravaged and terrified American communities, Congress instructed the director of the CDC to take decisive action. Congress told the director to send information about the AIDS virus to every household so that the American people could make decisions on the basis of facts, not fear. Recognizing that the Reagan White House’s response to the epidemic—dismissiveness that gave way to fearmongering—stemmed from a deadly cocktail of prejudice and politics, Congress forbade anyone outside of the CDC from interfering in the content of the mailing. The American people needed facts, not spin.

The White House balked and asked OLC whether the statute was unconstitutional. OLC assured the White House that denying the president final say over the dissemination of public health information was an “egregious” violation of the Constitution, the depths of which “cannot be overemphasized.” The opinion explained that the president has inherent power to “supervise” and “oversee the CDC’s determination of the content of” the AIDS mailers. (A subsequent opinion less subtly spells out that the power to “supervise” and “oversee … content” is the power to ensure that agency heads “revise” content according to the president’s wishes.) Essentially, OLC asserted, congressional instructions to an agency to use congressionally appropriated funds to share accurate information directly with the American people “is fundamentally inconsistent with our tripartite system of republican government.” Congress, OLC wrote, “has no more right” to prevent the president from exercising his right to “supervise” the CDC’s decisions about the AIDS mailer than “the President would have to preclude federal judges from reviewing draft opinions prepared by their clerks.”

OLC’s breathless rhetoric about the constitutional stakes was laughable. The death toll from AIDS was not.

Over 30 years later, a less deadly but still serious virus, the coronavirus, threatens a global pandemic. To manage the public health challenge, the government will need to disseminate accurate information to hospitals and the American people, no matter how politically inconvenient that information might be. Yet this specious and little-known OLC precedent seems to give the president a blank check to censor lifesaving information from the CDC and to spew misinformation in its place.

We know better, T. Trump Derangement Syndrome is used by people who are deranged followers of Trump. Although, anyone who follows Trump is deranged so that's kind of a double statement.

BTW: Matt Gaetz Twitter account sounds a bit foreboding:

Rep. Matt Gaetz

While the Congressman is not experiencing symptoms, he received testing today and expects results soon.

Under doctor's usual precautionary recommendations, he'll remain self-quarantined until the 14-day period expires this week."

I wonder if he knows that if you test negative you can still get it?

Elsewhere on Twitter:

Rep. Doug Collins — now voluntarily in self-quarantine after interacting with a coronavirus-infected person at CPAC — shook hands with President Trump on Friday ahead of his CDC visit.

Why is President Trump so obsessive about insisting that the coronavirus is no big deal, everything is under control, no worries, etc.?

This is not something that I believe Trump has thought through, but something that he’s adduced via pure, subconscious animal cunning, of which he is well endowed. Here it is:

All that matters is setting expectations. Ronald Reagan said over and over that lower taxes would bring the economy out of recession, so when the economy did finally rebound in 1984 it was low taxes that got the credit. The three previous years were all forgotten.

Likewise, what matters now is telling people that everything is OK; there are lots of test kits available; the death rate will be low; and Democrats are just a bunch of worrywarts. Eventually, when the coronavirus epidemic ebbs out, Trump will take credit for being right all along and the previous few months will be forgotten. By fall, Trump will seem like the bearer of comfort and relief while Democrats will seem like a bunch of partisan crybabies screeching that the sky is falling.

You will, of course, note that this is a completely sociopathic attitude. It assumes that Trump cares only about his own political future, not about limiting damage from the coronavirus. The fact that his rosy nonsense might actually get more people killed either never occurs to him or else he just doesn’t care.

For Trump, there’s no upside to being a pessimist. It doesn’t distinguish him from anyone else and it makes him unpopular since no one likes being constantly lectured about always washing your hands and so forth. From a purely cynical political point of view, Trump’s attitude is almost all upside and virtually no downside.

One other thing. Always keep in mind one of Trump’s axioms of management: when other people are in charge everything is terrible; when I’m in charge everything is great. He is currently in charge, so ipso facto things must be great.

Of course, Trump’s approach will fail miserably if the coronavirus mutates and turns into a scourge that wipes out 5% of the population. But it probably won’t! And if it does, Trump’s lizard brain realizes that nothing he says or does will matter anyway.

Why is President Trump so obsessive about insisting that the coronavirus is no big deal, everything is under control, no worries, etc.?

For the last time. Because he's the President of the United Fucking States. That's why.

For Trump, there’s no upside to being helpful. It will make him unpopular telling people to wash their hands. From a purely cynical political point of view, Trump’s attitude is almost all upside for himself. You will, of course, note that this is a completely sociopathic attitude. Trump cares only about his own political future, not about limiting damage from the coronavirus. That he will actually get people killed either never occurs to him or else he just doesn’t care.

If you want to laugh, Oh Toothless 6ix, laugh at Trump being his usual self -- wrapped up in his pettiness during a crisis:

From California wildfires to political unrest in Puerto Rico, the President has made a habit of going after public officials he doesn't like during moments of crisis. The latest such event, a global public health crisis, seems to have stoked his instincts for combativeness, rather than prompting a demonstration of positive leadership.

Specifically, the President's antagonism comes at a crucial time for the governmental response to the virus, which has required a nationwide coordination among states as well as the federal government.

Cuomo and New York have been at the forefront of the response, with the Empire State notching 146 confirmed cases of coronavirus by Monday. On Saturday, Cuomo declared a state of emergency in New York, giving the state government access to funds and powers to more swiftly address the outbreak.

Despite marshaling his state's resources, Cuomo is the latest governor to find himself the target of the President's invective -- but he's not the first.

While visiting CDC headquarters in Atlanta last Friday with a more friendly governor, Republican Brian Kemp of Georgia, Trump called Washington Gov. Jay Inslee a "snake" and said he had warned Pence of working closely with the Democratic governor.

Washington has been the epicenter of the virus' outbreak in the US. As of Monday, the state had reported at least 136 cases and 18 deaths, largely from the Seattle area. Last month, following a call with Pence, Inslee had taken a shot at Trump on Twitter.

"I told him our work would be more successful if the Trump administration stuck to the science and told the truth," Inslee tweeted.

Pence and Inslee appear to have maintained a good working relationship despite their different party identifications. The vice president visited Washington last week, where Inslee greeted him on the tarmac with a sanitary elbow-bump rather than the customary handshake. In public remarks, Pence and Inslee praised each other -- a gesture that seems to have irked Trump.

"I told Mike not to be complimentary of that governor because that governor is a snake," Trump said at the CDC. "Just let me tell you, we have a lot of problems with the governor and the governor of Washington, that's where you have many of your problems, OK? So Mike may be happy with him but I'm not, OK?"

Trump's characteristic bombast has not abated even at this precarious time for his presidency -- and even with his reelection on the line.

I laugh at clowns. Circus clowns pretend to be incompetent. Trump The Clown is not pretending. He is the real thing: The unique incompetence of Donald Trump in a crisis
When bureaucratic mistakes are compounded by political incompetence

www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2020/03/09/unique-incompetence-donald-t
rump-crisis
/

There are, unfortunately, three important differences between the Obama administration’s Ebola response and the Trump administration’s covid-19 response. They are all related to the unique incompetence of President Trump coping with a crisis not of his own making.

1) First, Trump’s toddler traits have exacerbated the mismanagement of the situation. The president’s short attention span and quick temper compromised his administration’s ability to handle the crucial weeks when containment was still possible. According to my Post colleagues Ashley Parker, Yasmeen Abutaleb, and Lena H. Sun, “during a late January meeting at the White House, Azar was having trouble focusing Trump’s full attention on his coronavirus briefing.”

A month later, multiple reports confirm Trump blew his stack when Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, said on the record that the virus would spread.

All of this was before Trump’s train-wreck presser at the CDC on Friday. Trump flat-out acknowledged he wanted low numbers of reported infected Americans even if that meant doing things like not actively looking for possible infections or keeping people quarantined on cruise ships. It was so disconcerting that Wired’s Adam Rogers admitted to being rattled:

As a reporter, in general I’m not supposed to say something like this, but: The president’s statements to the press were terrifying. That press availability was a repudiation of good science and good crisis management from inside one of the world’s most respected scientific institutions. It was full of Dear Leader-ish compliments, non-sequitorial defenses of unrelated matters, attacks on an American governor, and — most importantly — misinformation about the virus and the US response. That’s particularly painful coming from inside the CDC, a longtime powerhouse in global public health now reduced to being a backdrop for grubby politics. During a public health crisis, clear and true information from leaders is the only way to avoid dangerous panic. Yet here we are.

For me, the most disconcerting part of it was watching public health officials just nod along to Trump’s falsehoods. Which leads to the second difference:

2) Trump’s staff has now adopted some of the president’s worst toddler traits. According to Politico’s Dan Diamond, back in January “Trump’s aides mocked and belittled Azar as alarmist, as he warned the president of a major threat to public health and his own economic agenda.” The Post reported last week that Trump’s close advisers share Trump’s incapacity for long-range thinking:

Throughout his presidency, Trump has obsessed over hourly news cycles, looking to win each one as opposed to patiently executing long-range strategies. But with coronavirus, some of his own administration officials privately say they are struggling to impress upon the president and his close advisers that they may need to weather some difficult news cycles to win the best headline of all: the eradication of the virus.

Similarly, the AP’s Mike Stobbe reported “The White House overruled health officials who wanted to recommend that elderly and physically fragile Americans be advised not to fly on commercial airlines because of the new coronavirus.” That sounds like a White House that is trying so hard to avoid any immediate bad news that it cannot recognize

That idea scares the shit out of him. That's why all of the sudden he turned into Biden's biggest fan overnight.

During a lunch meeting with GOP senators, Trump said that he wants the payroll tax holiday to last through the November election, in order to avoid a sudden tax increase right before voters head to the polls to decide whether he returns to office.

The focus of Trump’s plan is more tailored to boosting his electoral prospects than helping Americans weather a potential pandemic.

Signym almost criticized Trump, but that is conditional on some future failure that won’t even happen if his GOP staff take control of the situation before lazy/disorganized/dishonest/stupid Trump turns it into an election catastrophe for the entire GOP:

According to some, we are where Italy was a month ago. In a month, we could be where Italy is now. Our hospitals could be in complete chaos, with COVID19 victims and heart attack victims and trauma victims all dying, equally unattended, in a crowded hospital corridor, like a scene out of Contagion.

If it gets that bad, Trump will deservedly be blamed. His first response was to blame China and prop up the stock market instead of taking prompt action to blunt the pandemic.

Nobody will blame Trump for COVID19 puncturing the stock bubble. But they WILL blame him if he fails to take effective action. (And, no, that doesn't included meaningless but dramatic publicity stunts.) Whatever the Italian PM Conte should have been doing a month ago, Trump should be doing now. That might mean closing schools and shuttering all shops except food and pharmacies. Maybe even temporarily nationalizing the healthcare system and pharmaceuticals to mobilize resources to where they're needed most.

In the meantime ... and in the absence of government action ...

And it does look like Trump's staff took the pandemic control away from Trump. His speech last night was the opposite of what he had been saying 12 hours earlier on twitter. But then Trump didn't write the speech, did he? His staff did to save the GOP from Trump.

But Trump is back to old tricks after the speech:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
“Nancy Pelosi all of a sudden doesn’t like the payroll tax cut, but when Obama proposed it she thought it was a brilliant thing that all of the working families would benefit from because if you get a paycheck, you’re going to take home more money.” @kilmeade @foxandfriends

Trump wants to stop collecting the tax that keeps Medicare and Social Security operating, but Pelosi wants Medicare and Social Security to continue operating. Maybe that is why Pelosi doesn't like Trump's idea? Does Trump even know what that tax is for?

6ix, are you still 100% certain that Trump will be reelected? The real odds have always been around 50%, but the coronavirus is causing Trump to go a little lower -- 46% today.

Luck might be that some of the old men running for President catch the virus and are taken out of the race. It could be a 3.4% chance.

It could be higher: 8% for 70-79 years old candidates.

6ix, you are being belligerent and stupid and yet convinced you are smarter than everybody. That has not worked out so well for you in Indiana, has it? You have ended up working in crap jobs at low pay or no job at all because of your delusions of superiority. That might be possible for Arthur Fleck in the movie Joker, the one you find so praiseworthy, but it doesn't work in Indiana. I do hope you are pretending to be as nutty as Arthur Fleck. When will you morph from 6ixStringJack back into 6ixStringJoker, your original avatar? That will be fun when you reveal that Joker is your authentic self, your "true nature", to your next door neighbors. They will buy a billion dollars worth of movie tickets to watch your meltdown.

August Third, 2013.

Chances are, any negative comments against me here are not without merit, and are probably totally true if from former great friends....

Yes Frem, I am an asshole.

Who am I to argue....

Any claims against my lack of Asshole-ism are unwarranted.  I'm nothing more or less than an asshole.  BTW... Go fuck yourself Frem :)

Chances are, if you're Female and know me in person, you can't explain your undeniable attraction to me.  At the same time, to me, you're nothing more than a warm, moist place to cum in.  I could just as easily be "humping" the pool-liner in my basement or a wet/dry vac.....

My entry for August 3rd was going to be about what a dickhole I was....

Asshole, dickhole, whatever...

Even in my self-martyrdome, I hold way too much "swing" than i'm comfortable with...

FREM.....   If you've seen American Psycho.... well... you know a bit of my dilemma....

There's no doubt i hate myself.  I've smoked a lot and drank a lot in an effort to mitigate those effects.  even to this day, there's not a girl over 30 years old I've met at work or otherwise that isn't smitten with me.

Maybe if they read this, they'll finally move on......

I don't think one single thing about a Woman over 30 years old is attractive.

Really, looking at it, the only reason 30 year old women or older are attracted to me is because I'm not at all attracted to them.

I'm sure that the 22 year old women at work that I'm very attracted to have long ago figured out the flip side of this equation...

If you have got a problem with the boss, confront your boss. I've tried both ways when I was an employee: be a "team player" or be confrontational. My personal preference is that it's better for the company and yourself to get fired than to meekly resign or endure some boss's goddamn nonsense and incompetence. And before you leave the hated job, punch the boss or give the boss a major scar. Sadly for America, most workers won't fight back as individuals. They won't even join a union so that it can fight for them. Instead, they passively endure, then go home and drink and make life sad for their children. I think the employee should fight and make life very sad for the boss. Hit back hard! Don't just take the boss's abuse and criminal incompetence. (That's why I hate Trump going back before the Trump Casino bankruptcy. He is all the worst bosses I have known in one fat lying sack of shit. His handling of the Coronavirus is American management at its worst.)

The idea sounds great on paper, buddy, but when you're working for these big places theses days "the boss" is nothing more than a bigger cog in the machine and has to do a lot of things they don't want to do just to keep food on their own tables.

You pretend to read things I post, but you don't really read them, although it is apparent that you at least skim over them.

I LOVED my old job. It didn't pay much, but I got the hours I wanted, the shifts I wanted and when I came back in everybody was all smiles... Even the co-workers who didn't get to dictate terms like I did. And that was because when I was there a large portion of the hardest shit in the store got done quickly and it got done right and that freed up two other people to go do other things and lessen the burden on everyone else. The manager/leads were happy, and that trickled down.

You can't do shit about layoffs though. You can't do shit about entire shifts being removed. That wasn't my manager's decision. That wasn't the decision of the guy who hired me. That wasn't the decision of the store manager that came to love me by the end. Hell... they made her cry and take a 6 month stress leave which she never came back from so they could replace her with an ex-military robot who's own corporate job had been recently eliminated. The only time I met him was when we had our final conversation.

I'm sure he sized me up immediately as somebody he didn't want on his new team going forward, just like I sized him up as somebody I would never work for.

As much as I may have wanted to, what good would punching him in the face have done me? What's the ROI?

They didn't fight unemployment. They fully vested me in what I had in the 401k even though I was more than 5 years away from being vested. They gave me a severance.

I probably would have lost all of that. I probably would have lost the willingness of other managers and team leads to give me a good recommendation for another part time near-minimum-wage job in the future. I probably would have gone to jail.

This isn't the 1950's. Even the ex-military robot running that shit show over there now isn

Google says it's not publishing a national-scale coronavirus site anytime soon after Trump announcement

Instead, a health-focused subsidiary owned by Google's parent company, Alphabet, intends to launch a small-scale website next week to begin to triage California-based patients. The website will aim to serve a broader population only "over time" -- not "very quickly," as Trump said.

Infighting, missteps and a son-in-law hungry for action: Inside the Trump administration’s troubled coronavirus response

The administration’s struggle to mitigate the coronavirus outbreak has been marked by infighting and blame-shifting, misinformation and missteps, and a slow recognition of the danger. Warring factions have wrestled for control internally and for approval from a president who has been preoccupied with the beating his image is taking.

On Fox News, suddenly a very different tune about the coronavirus

For weeks, some of Fox News’s most popular hosts downplayed the threat of the coronavirus, characterizing it as a conspiracy by media organizations and Democrats to undermine President Trump.

Fox News personalities such as Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham accused the news media of whipping up “mass hysteria” and being “panic pushers.” Fox Business host Trish Regan called the alleged media-Democratic alliance “yet another attempt to impeach the president.”

But that was then.

Or I could just, yanno, keep doing what I'm doing and always have myself set up not to worry about the future and things out of left field like what we're going through.

I really do feel bad for those living paycheck to paycheck, even in the best of times. Must be a lot of people really sweating right now.

It's not like I haven't tried joining a union before. 4 times, actually. Even got placed 54/2000 in the HVAC a few years back before I started drinking heavily, but because the economy sucked so bad they only hired 30 that year and no doubt they were other people's sons and nephews.

I was told if it was the late 90's or early 2000's, they were hiring 150+ every year and I would have easily had the job even without any nepotism on my side.

Trump disbanded NSC pandemic unit that experts had praised

Public health and national security experts shake their heads when President Donald Trump says the coronavirus "came out of nowhere" and “blindsided the world.”

They've been warning about the next pandemic for years and criticized the Trump administration's decision in 2018 to dismantle a National Security Council directorate at the White House charged with preparing for when, not if, another pandemic would hit the nation.

As the United States grapples with the COVID-19 pandemic, President Donald Trump said on Friday that he didn't know "anything about" a reorganization of the National Security Council that dismantled a key pandemics team two years ago. The head of that team, Rear Adm. Timothy Ziemer, left suddenly after the team was disbanded in 2018; he had been tasked with how the country responds to a threat like the novel coronavirus. When Trump was asked by the PBS NewsHour's Yamiche Alcindor about whether he took responsibility for the decision, the president called it a nasty question, saying it wasn't him and gesturing to other members of his administration that were part of a group of people that make decisions. "We're doing a great job," he added. The number of cases of COVID-19 in the U.S. has climbed above 1,600, and public health officials have shared concern in recent days that the U.S. does not have enough tests or hospital beds, among other supplies, to handle a widespread outbreak.

What DID happen with that, I stopped paying attention for a while there??

I'm guessing they wanted Mr. Wonderful to start at the bottom somewhere and he thought he was too special for that??

U.S. intelligence reports from January and February warned about a likely pandemic

U.S. intelligence agencies were issuing ominous, classified warnings in January and February about the global danger posed by the coronavirus while President Trump and lawmakers played down the threat and failed to take action that might have slowed the spread of the pathogen, according to U.S. officials familiar with spy agency reporting.

Bad guess. The only jobs I've worked in the last 10 years have been so far at the bottom that you'd have to be dead to go any lower. It wasn't that.

I imploded in massive self destruction after a failed interview or two, right around the same time that I had gotten fired from a job and found out my teeth were going to fall out despite the fact that I've never had a single cavity. At that point, I let my drinking ramp up to insane levels, and just like I did with a lot of my family at the time, I burned any and all bridges I had at the college where I was the first and only person to get all four certifications.

To be fair to you here, I may not have mentioned that here on the forums. I dunno. I was pretty far gone at that time and my memory of it isn't very clear. Not one of my proudest moments, to be sure.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Oye. You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but if you can't at least fake interpersonal skills, you won't be going anywhere with people.

Maybe you should look around ... when all this is over... and see if you can't find a job that doesn't require you to be around people as much??

My kids new job, she has NO supervisors. She got training, she goes in and does her job. She gets to say hi to some people she likes, but other than that, no dealing with people crap. It's perfect for us.

It wouldn't hurt to use some of the stimulus money, if we ever get it, to go get some mood stabilizers just to get past interviews either. After the first one bombed, doing the same thing again was your mistake.

YOU HAVE TO LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES ON THIS PLANET IF YOU WANNA GET ANYWHERE...

Wow. An actual human response. How the hell did I draw that out of you after all of these years?

Now I actually feel kind of shitty calling you out just 2 minutes ago in another thread.

Did you honestly think I thought that you wouldn't??

You need a place to start. You got yer diet better, now start by getting your brain better. Use the next months.

Start by acknowledging reality. Every day, in every way. Stop running from it by downplaying everything.

Anxiety is there to help decide appropriate threat levels. It's STRESS you need to stop.

Maybe find a hobby to read about online, learn something?? I read at least 4 medical articles all the way through every single day.

LEARN... SOMETHING.

May I suggest Psychology??
