Oh, BTW... the trim looks BEAUTIFUL with the caulk now that I can plainly see it all in the daylight. The coped 45's for the corners were the way to go for sure. It looks like they cut those boards from a tree with a large limb growing at a perfect 90 degree angle. The 22.5 degree scarf joints for joining them were actually difficult to get any caulk in because of how "perfect" they were. I might do a quick spot paint over them and see how they look when they dry, because when I make the ones in the future I might want to deliberately separate them about 2mm just so there is a good space to get caulk in there. If that's the case, I can always use a blade on the ones I did now to create a divot to stuff.
I'm glad I took a few hours to make backing boards out of newspaper for the couple of doors that weren't centered properly and didn't allow for the casings to join right on the return as well. Even with those backing rods I wasn't able to finish 4 doors with a single tube of caulk. The first tube I used on doors that didn't have that issue let me get 7 done with some to spare. If I didn't have those backing rods it I might not have even been able to caulk 2 doors with a tube.
That was a pretty cool idea. I didn't get that off of YouTube. I thought of it because of a video I watched about sealing the front porch next to the foundation of the house. You're supposed to use self leveling caulk on top of foam backing rod tubes about a 1/2 to an inch below the concrete slab and then just caulk it (Unless you want to spend $200 on caulk to fill it down to the dirt).
I did make sure not to have any of the newspaper closer than an inch to the floor though, especially on the bathroom door where water could seep up. Went heavy on the caulk on the bottoms to seal it all in.

My recommendation based on personal experience over the years is if anything green comes out of my throat or sinuses, I hot foot it to a doc. Cause in my case it could mean a sinus infection.

Lucky you SIX. Now it is the eastern part of Canada taking the hits. BC should be starting to warm up now that this hopefully latest storm has moved on through. Expecting rain over the next few days, so snow will start to melt but that will make a huge, yucky mess for walking and driving.
Yeah... we got that mess right now Brenda. Streets are probably fine by now, but otherwise it's an ice rink out there.
EDIT: F'in hell, it's cold now. 5 degrees with a real feel of -14.
If I'm going to finish painting those bedroom doors in the basement today I might have to take the thermometer down there and see if it's even warm enough to do that.

Got one coat on the back of the doors today, and painted all of the door frames that are going to need to be done so I can hang them. I was planning on doing a lot more since my horses were free, but I'm running out of paint and I didn't want to risk not having enough for the second coat on the doors. It should be enough to do the doors and finish the rest of the frames, but I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see for sure. Only 52 degrees in my basement right now, so while it's warm enough to do painting it's just barely and there's no reason to rush that final coat.
Although the bedroom doors are going to go straight up after they dry, it just occured to me that I'm not ready to hang the closet or linen closet doors just yet. While it's technically possible to install the baseboard in the closet with the doors up, it will be much easier to install, caulk and paint them without the doors on, so they're going to be staged until then. Gives me another incentive to work on what is probably going to be a little tricky.
I think I'm going to wait on the windows until I get everything else done... maybe even after I build the closets. I'm kind of thinking that I want to buy better wood than what I did buy for the windowsills. I'm thinking what I might do is use the existing pieces I had bought to put a 2nd layer underneath the actual sills and when it gets warmer outside and I can work in the garage again I can find all of my router bits and make some really fancy looking windowsills. No reason to rush that part of the job and put up something I'm going to regret now that everything else looks so nice.

Woke up to snow this morning here. Wasn't expecting to see that. But then again, it is winter. Figures that the year that I'm not driving 35 miles round trip to work is the year where we barely get any. I'm probably jinxing myself, but we've probably only had about 5% of the snow we had last year, and the majority of that was on Halloween.

Woke up to a bad dream that I had a moldy stick in my trachea that I couldn't breathe past because ... I felt like I had a moldy stick in my trachea I couldn't breathe past. Something was so swollen and the mucus was so sticky I started panicking about being able to breathe. So at 2AM I was digging around in the frig for my rescue inhaler (just in case! Altho an asthma attack wasn't exactly what it felt like; if I had had an aerosol steroid inhaler maybe that would have been more on target) and spent the next hour and some inhaling steam. The warm moist air seemed to sooth the inflammation, and eventually (some of) the goo liquefied enough to be able to be coughed up, and I just got too sleepy to give a damn, but that was scary. Haven't felt that bad that since the last time I had a serious virus, about four years ago, right b4 I was due for surgery (Needless to say, "they" decided I was way too sick for anesthesia.)
Fortunately, I have two doctors' appointments coming up this week, both to address the generalized inflammation that has been dogging me in one way or another for a long time. All I have to do is hang on until Wednesday. I hope I get to the bottom of all this. I can deal with the other crap, but I need a ready response for flu, since the NEXT time the flu comes around it will be another Big Deal for me.

EDITED TO ADD Tried the rescue inhaler (albuterol) and it did reduce the spasms, so I guess it was an asthma attack after all, caused by viral inflammation.
Yanno, I never had asthma until I moved to CA as a young adult and contracted a serious upper respiratory virus then. It's been dogging me ever since.

I can empathize with the dreams. I've had dreams about my teeth falling out for about 15 years now. I think my body was trying to tell me something. Recently I had a pretty funny one, and the most terrifying one I've ever had in a single week.
The funny one was about the tooth that I'm really working on loosening up so I can pull it before my appointment. It's just been kind of wobbling down around there for about a year now, impossible to keep clean because it can't be brushed and not worth the $100 to have somebody else do it. Barely even hurts. But the reason I've kept it this long is because I'm afraid that with two missing in the front on the bottom it would change the shape of my face and even worse it would give me even more speech problems than I've had to overcome with the one already missing and this one just flopping around like a fish.
In my dream, that tooth fell out (It was HUGE... they're always rediculously big when they fall out in my dreams), and not only did I start talking like Hank Azeria on The Birdcage, but in my dream the only thing keeping my tongue from just forcing its way out of my mouth and hanging out of it like an icicle was that tooth, so I couldn't even put my tongue back in my mouth without forcing it back in with my fingers.
The scary one was me brushing my teeth and thousands of small green and black spiders crawling out of the gums and covering my entire body.
I hope our upcoming appointments put an end to these dreams.
