Schiff: Impeachment may be 'only remedy' to Trump keeping whistleblower complaint and Ukraine call private
"If the President is essentially withholding military aid at the same time that he is trying to browbeat a foreign leader into doing something illicit that is providing dirt on his opponent during a presidential campaign, then that may be the only remedy that is coequal to the evil that conduct represents," the California Democrat told CNN's Jake Tapper on "State of the Union," stopping short of calling on Congress to immediately launch proceedings.

Trump confesses: "Sure, I Did It. So What?" If the GOP Senators say it is not a crime for me to commit that crime, what are you going to do about it?
President Trump acknowledged on Sunday that he discussed former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. with Ukraine’s president. While Mr. Trump defended his July phone call with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine as perfectly appropriate, he confirmed that Mr. Biden came up during the discussion.
It’s pretty clear at this point that Trump realizes the truth of what happened is likely to come out. So he’s doing what he usually does: preemptively declaring that there’s nothing wrong with it and getting the entire conservative machine to publicly agree with him. I don’t know if it will work, but if Trump did what we all think he did, then he has to be impeached for one reason, only: Senators have to go on record either approving or disapproving of his conduct. Then the voters will decide if they approve of Republican Senators decriminalizing a crime when the criminal is Trump because Trump is so very loved and very special to the GOP Senators.
In case you can't recognize a crime, it is Trump using Federal money as a bribe for the President of Ukraine, who then takes down Joe Biden, Trump's rival.

The GOP Senators will say Trump did not "intend" to bribe Ukraine. Since Trump's heart is pure, no crime was committed, despite appearances. The GOP Senators will not prove the purity of their own hearts, claiming the people already know they are pure and good.
It will be left to voters to decide whether bribery is a crime, or not, when Trump does it to get Ukraine to destroy Trump's political enemy, Joe Biden. If Biden does not get nominated, the voters will be told by the GOP and Trump that bribery doesn't matter. The Democrats will say bribery doesn't become legal just because Trump says it doesn't matter. Around and around we go, with nothing being solved until the election in 2020.
