We cannot. I knew Trump from his reputation as a businessman. That guy gave off the fumes of corruption since the days of Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City going bankrupt. Hillary stunk far less than Trump.

A reminder of what Trump did in Atlantic City: www.nytimes.com/2016/06/12/nyregion/donald-trump-atlantic-city.html

If it smells like shit, it's still shit.

Keep that in mind when you realize that some people find different offensive odors more or less palatable than others do.

I'm fine with the fact that neither of us agree on which of the pieces of shit running the country are the lesser of two evils.

I won't abide anybody from the left claiming that their side is everything that is right and good in the world, however.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Thankfully, you misspelled strategic as "strtegic" interests.
Why is this even an issue? I was working on a tablet with a VERY slow response, it would take literally a minute for it to display what I had just typed. I'm surprised that I didn't have more typos.

Quote:

Trump has told everyone, over and over, what he thinks America's "strtgic" interests are and there is always more and more missing from his "strtgc".
What does this have to do with anything other than your incessant requirement to diss Trump over any failing, real or imagined?

Quote:

My explanation is that since WWII, America has been living inside a tale told by many idiots, full of sound and fury signifying almost nothing. Signym, if you want to explain Federal government policy as a conspiracy run by a Deep State, I can't convince you that real explanation is widespread American avarice and stupidity disguised as generosity and wisdom by hundreds of thousands of highly articulate spokesmen whose full time jobs are to beautify Americans’ motivations. Then there are millions of Americans who make it their part-time job. Then there are hundreds of millions of Americans that want to believe these beautiful & glowing tales about themselves being spread by full and part time spokesmen heaping praise upon them. As you can probably tell, I woke up grumpy. That is because I’m ...
An asshole?

And one that's just as stupid as the people he claims to despise?

Here's where your logic falls to your permanent grotch: You have demonstrated that many people are FOOLED into supporting greedy, avaricious policies. Now, if these people were greedy and avaricious, would they NEED to be fooled that our policies are for "democracy" or because we represent a "shining city on a hill" or because of "WMD" or some such nonsense?

Hell no! It would be sufficient to say that "Venezuela is a competing oil interest and is destabilizing the petrodollar, therefore we want to install our hand-picked rightwing IMF toady so we can corral oil and currency markets again" The reason WHY the deep state needs to construct such elaborate hoaxes to cover our real regime-change rationale is NOT because people are greedy, and NOT because people are powerless, but it's exact opposite: "The people" might actually affect policy if they got off their hind legs and figured out what was going on, and the deep state cannot afford to have that happen.

Now, those who spend many hundreds of thousands of words convincing "the people" that various imaginary fables are true (like you, or Rachel Maddow, or Elliot Abrams) ... are you or they the decision-makers? Is there a scintilla's-worth of truth in anything you - or they - say? Or are they just covering for the real reasons of the real decision-makers?

It's been my experience that when a foreign (or domestic) event doesn't make sense ... when the reasons given don't square with reality ... it's not that the people who're deciding don't have extremely good reasons (from their POV) to do what they do. They've just managed to throw enough chaff into the air to confuse you, along with all of the other "stupid" people out there.

But if you think about it long enough and gather enough information and maintain an open mind when answering the question cui bono? you'll eventually figure out the why, and the who.

And now, since you're so hate-filled and vicious that it must be because you're in some sort of pain, there's no point in continuing this discussion further. Basically, you're being driven by something to the point of irrationality and can't maintain a conversation.

John Dean: "I testified against Nixon. My appearance before Congress helped take down a president. Will the same thing happen to Trump?"

There are several parallels between my testimony before Congress in 1973, about President Richard Nixon and his White House, and Michael Cohen’s testimony this week about President Trump and his business practices. Setting aside the differences regarding how we got there, we both found ourselves speaking before Congress, in multiple open and closed venues, about criminal conduct of a sitting president of the United States.

Polls varied widely after my testimony. One said 50 percent of Americans believed me, 30 percent did not, and 20 percent were not sure.

While my testimony was eventually corroborated by secret recordings of our conversations made by Mr. Nixon, before that it was other witnesses who made the difference. I was surprised by the number of people who surfaced to support my account. The same, I suspect, will happen for Michael Cohen. The Mafia’s code of omertà has no force in public service. I have heard no one other than Roger Stone say he will go to jail for Donald Trump.

Just as Mr. Nixon had his admirers and apologists, so it is with Mr. Trump. Some of these people will forever be rewriting history. They will put words in Mr. Cohen’s mouth that he never spoke. They will place him at events at which he wasn’t present. Some have tried rewriting my life, and they will rewrite his, too. Presidential scandals tend to attract a remarkable number of dishonest “historians.”

Mr. Cohen read a closing statement. He told the legislators, “Given my experience working for Mr. Trump, I fear that if he loses the election in 2020 that there will never be a peaceful transition of power, and this is why I agreed to appear before you today.” This was the most troubling — actually, chilling — thing he said in his five hours before the committee. Mr. Trump is the first authoritarian president since Mr. Nixon, and neither he nor his supporters will play fair. Mr. Cohen will be dealing with these people the rest of his life.

Absolutely no evidence that Trump ever had bone spurs, but he absolutely did avoid Vietnam using bone spurs as his excuse.

Meh... I used fake urine to pass a drug test for the job that gave me the money to get into my current position of owning my house free and clear.

We've all got similar tales...

Democrats were against that war anyhow. Something I happen to agree with. NeoLiberal Corporatist Democrats of today love war.
