We should have a pool about which new Two Minutes Hate will crop up after the whole Russia thing dies. I bet if I look hard enough somebody online has already created one for us.

I didn't manage to find a pool before I had to go, but I found this great article on the subject...

https://techcrunch.com/2019/01/27/the-new-two-minutes-hate/

Quote:

I’m not suggesting that these tsunamis of online outrage are bad because their targets are invalid. Sometimes they are, but that’s not my point. My point is that participation in them is harmful — to you, and to us all — even though, maybe even especially when, its targets are completely valid.

It’s a weird and crazy and utopian notion, I know, but here’s an odd proposal. Maybe it’s too much to ask that you stop tweeting snd sharing your outrage and hate. But how about this: if you do participate, then for every ejaculation of fury, add another one, a balancing tweet, a quick thoughtful Facebook post, wherein you express some compassion — again, not sympathy, not agreement, but compassion — for someone with whom you bitterly disagree. You never know. It might become a habit.

Is John Bolton a little fish?

Well, let me ask you this: Is John Bolton furthering his own strategic interests? Does he even have strategic interests?

And if not his interests ... whose?

John Bolton is a greedy dumb bastard, overly articulate, who works for bigger and greedier bastards who don’t speak as well as Bolton. In 2018, the White House reported that Bolton's total income for 2017 had been $2.2 million which included $569,000 from Fox News and $747,000 in speaking fees from, among others, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation (a Ukrainian NGO), Deutsche Bank, and HSBC.

There is no secret conspiracy by some mysterious group of people within a "Deep State". How do I know? I worked for the greedy dumb bastards who are forever pushing the Federal government to do extraordinarily stupid things because that makes them rich. I graduated from Sam Rayburn High School, Pasadena, in 1970. That summer I went to work at a drafting board for Brown & Root in Houston. It had contracts to build in Vietnam. You probably don't know, but Mr Brown was bankrolling President Lyndon Johnson, infamous for the Vietnam War, back in 1940 as a member of the House of Representatives.

B&R was a big cheerleader for the Vietnam War, as were all its office employees. B&R was owned by Halliburton, Dick Cheney’s company. Remember Cheney? Bush’s V.P. and also a big cheerleader for the Iraq War. Halliburton made billions from that war, as it did from Vietnam. This is all out in the open. Your so-called "Deep State" is just a bunch of greedy dumb asses like Bolton or Cheney or LBJ, chasing after money.

Bolton sees some future Iran War as another opportunity, much like Vietnam, to make a big pile of money. That's why he promotes a war with Iran. He won't admit it, but that motivates him.

So SECOND, who benefits from destroying multiple nations in the Mideast and South/ Central America? John Bolton? If not John Bolton ... who? Can you name them? Can you even imagine what those strtegic interests might be? I doubt it,
:)

Thankfully, you misspelled strategic as "strtegic" interests. Trump has told everyone, over and over, what he thinks America's "strtgic" interests are and there is always more and more missing from his "strtgc". My explanation is that since WWII, America has been living inside a tale told by many idiots, full of sound and fury signifying almost nothing. Signym, if you want to explain Federal government policy as a conspiracy run by a Deep State, I can't convince you that real explanation is widespread American avarice and stupidity disguised as generosity and wisdom by hundreds of thousands of highly articulate spokesmen whose full time jobs are to beautify Americans’ motivations. Then there are millions of Americans who make it their part-time job. Then there are hundreds of millions of Americans that want to believe these beautiful & glowing tales about themselves being spread by full and part time spokesmen heaping praise upon them. As you can probably tell, I woke up grumpy. That is because I’m going to watch my lawyers beat some more sense into a greedy Texas businessman, another blowhard liar like Trump or Nixon (or Rudy or Bolton), who has a much higher opinion of his personal integrity and the quality of his work than the cold hard facts will support.

Hey. We could actually agree on a lot of things, Second, if you would apply all the hostility you have toward members of your own party as well. I seriously can't understand why you give any of them a pass, since they're all con men and women.

Avarice... nice word.

6ixStringJack, there are only two parties for me to pick from, unless I want to be an ineffectual idiot and go with a third party (remember Ralph Nader?) that can't win, and I picked the Democrats, the least-worse of two major parties. If I want the least-worse to win, I can't be making the same arguments as the worst-worse party, the GOP, makes.

We cannot. I knew Trump from his reputation as a businessman. That guy gave off the fumes of corruption since the days of Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City going bankrupt. Hillary stunk far less than Trump.

A reminder of what Trump did in Atlantic City: www.nytimes.com/2016/06/12/nyregion/donald-trump-atlantic-city.html

Trump in the West Texas town of El Paso . . .
